Peaceful Farm Life-Chapter 1925 - 1926: Quick to Run Away
"Brother Qing, you’re back!" Seeing An Yiqing, Gong Le was overjoyed, but she only took two steps towards An Yiqing before everything went black, and she fainted.
"Lele!" An Yiqing was so frightened that he couldn’t even hold onto his umbrella. He dropped it and caught the falling Gong Le.
Carrying Gong Le horizontally, he headed indoors, while urgently instructing, "Hurry up and call the Imperial Physician!"
Once inside, An Yiqing ordered the palace maid to use hot water to wipe Gong Le’s body and to change her into dry clothes.
An Yiqing stayed outside the door, anxious beyond measure, pacing back and forth incessantly.
As soon as the Imperial Physician arrived, he started taking Gong Le’s pulse. An Yiqing watched intently from the side, and the moment the Imperial Physician withdrew his hand from Gong Le’s wrist, An Yiqing anxiously asked, "How is she?"
The Imperial Physician respectfully reported, "In response to the Third Prince, Miss Gong has only succumbed to the cold, which caused her to faint. After she wakes up, a few days of medication will suffice."
Still not reassured, An Yiqing asked, "She fainted, and just a few days of medicine will do?"
The Imperial Physician replied, "Miss Gong’s constitution is strong; an ordinary girl would have developed a high fever after such a long exposure to the rain, but Miss Gong only has a slight fever. Under normal circumstances, she should recover after a few days of medicine."
Only then did An Yiqing cease his questioning and instructed to quickly prepare the medicine.
After the Imperial Physician left, An Yiqing sat by the bed, looking at Gong Le, who lay quietly with a pale face. He had never seen Gong Le so weak, nor had he ever seen her so quiet. To be honest, his feelings were quite complex; he wasn’t used to seeing Gong Le like this.
Gong Le should be cheerful every day, even when sad, her spirit was usually full of vigor.
She should be the embodiment of vitality.
But now...
An Yiqing’s face originally bore a worried expression, but at this thought, his gaze darkened, and his expression turned somewhat cold. He turned his head and asked the palace maid and guard serving in his courtyard, "Why did Miss Gong stand in the courtyard getting drenched in the rain?"
The palace maid and guards immediately responded respectfully, "We don’t know."
"You don’t know?" An Yiqing sneered, "You are all serving in this courtyard, and she came here to be drenched yet you didn’t even ask?"
The palace maid and guards were silent, not daring to reply.
It was the Guard Commander who bravely spoke up, "At that time, the Fifth Prince, Sixth Prince, and Seventh Prince were also here, chatting and laughing with Miss Gong; we did not dare to approach and ask."
"Go, summon the Fifth Prince, Sixth Prince, and Seventh Prince to me!" An Yiqing immediately ordered.
"Yes!" The Guard Commander quickly went to find An Yiqi and the others.
But when the Guard Commander returned, he reported, "To inform the Third Prince, the Fifth Prince, Sixth Prince, and Seventh Prince have already braved the rain to go to the Imperial Palace, saying they haven’t seen the Emperor for a long time and wish to visit him."
An Yiqing immediately harrumphed, "Quite swift in escaping."
"Third Prince, then..."
"You all may leave." With all three of his younger brothers having gone to the Imperial Palace, he had nothing more to contest.
The palace maid and guards promptly withdrew. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Although their Third Prince appeared to have returned to normal, they could feel that his mood was still sour. They thought it best not to linger around him to avoid any repercussions.
...
Imperial Palace.
Jun Palace.
"Uncle, you must take us in today, otherwise, third brother will certainly kill us."
Both An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi knew that while their third brother cherished them, they were even more aware that if they made a mistake, their third brother would not hesitate to punish them harshly.
