Peaceful Farm Life-Chapter 1922 - 1923: The Longer, the Better!
After a brief pause, An Yiqing asked, "Why did you come to the Imperial City alone? Aren’t you afraid something might happen on the way?"
Gong Le sat cheerfully next to the couch, holding An Yiqing’s hand. "I disguised myself as a boy to come here, nothing happened on the way."
An Yiqing was used to Gong Le clinging to him since they were little, always holding his hand, so he didn’t find it unusual at all for Gong Le to be holding his hand. He simply said, "Answer my first question."
Gong Le then replied, "Didn’t Sister Qingqing just have a baby? My parents were planning to take me to see her and attend the baby’s full month banquet. But halfway there, I heard you were already back in the Imperial City, so I sneaked off the carriage to find Big Brother Qing. Don’t worry, I left my parents a note, they know I’ve come here to see you."
"Luckily you’re alright." An Yiqing gently flicked Gong Le’s forehead, "Otherwise, your parents would surely skin me."
Gong Le immediately said, "They won’t. I’ll protect Big Brother Qing, so they wouldn’t dare do anything to you."
An Yiqing just snorted and didn’t say anything more.
Gong Le, however, held her stomach and said in a slightly aggrieved tone, "Big Brother Qing, I’m hungry."
An Yiqing was taken aback, "How long has it been since you ate?"
"I was in a rush to see you, so I skipped lunch," Gong Le replied honestly.
It’s already almost dark!
An Yiqing’s expression immediately turned a bit sour, "Who told you to go hungry?"
After scolding Gong Le, An Yiqing quickly ordered someone to bring food for her.
Gong Le just grinned foolishly, not caring at all about An Yiqing scolding her.
Looking at Gong Le’s silly smile, An Yiqing couldn’t help but murmur softly, "Uncle Gong and Aunt Ye are so shrewd, how did they end up with someone like you..."
"Big Brother Qing, what are you mumbling about?" Gong Le asked curiously, leaning closer to An Yiqing.
Gong Le’s face was so close, just like she always used to be. An Yiqing didn’t find it inappropriate at all, but he naturally pushed Gong Le a bit farther away, "I’m not mumbling anything."
As Gong Le began to eat, she couldn’t stop talking, continuously chatting with An Yiqing.
"Big Brother Qing, I told my parents that I want to stay in the Imperial City for quite a while before going back."
An Yiqing was meditating with his eyes closed, initially not wanting to pay attention to the chatterbox Gong Le, but upon hearing this, he opened his mouth to ask without even opening his eyes, "How long is ’quite a while’?"
Gong Le immediately replied with a smile, "Of course, the longer the better! Especially since you’re here, Big Brother Qing. I want to stay by your side!"
An Yiqing suddenly felt a bit of a headache. He wished she would go back after just two days.
Even though An Yiqing didn’t say anything more, he had already decided in his mind to write a letter to Gong Juechen, urging him to come quickly and take Gong Le back home.
Gong Le was completely unaware of what An Yiqing was thinking. She continued to talk happily with him, saying all the things she wanted to say. Seeing An Yiqing made her genuinely happy.
She truly wanted to stay by An Yiqing’s side for as long as possible.
...
The next day, regardless of whether Gong Le was in the Royal Palace or not, An Yiqing went out to have fun as usual, leaving Gong Le without even a trace of him to be seen. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Unable to find An Yiqing in the Royal Palace and not knowing where he had gone, Gong Le was genuinely unhappy.
