PAMPERED BY MY THREE BROTHERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEGLECTED HEIRESS-Chapter 1794: One kill
Chapter 1794: One kill
Mint calmed her breathing, feeling the slight heat of the muzzle against her temple. She raised her hands slowly, knowing that one blow from the shotgun would end it all.
"I’m not going to fight," she said. "I still want an open casket to brag that even in death, I look good."
The person beside her didn’t respond or entertain her remarks. Instead, he reached out to grab the strap of her rifle.
"Move, and I’ll blow your head off," the man warned, yanking the strap up to her head. He then shouted, "I found her!"
Mint didn’t take her chances right now. She kept still, letting the man disarm her. The strap went from her torso to her head, then down to her shoulder and arm. She didn’t move an inch, her eyes locked on her arm.
She kept her gaze fixed there until she felt the shotgun on her forehead loosen slightly.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Mint quickly reached for her rifle and slid onto her knee. With her weight on the rifle as the man held the strap and her back hitting the mud, she didn’t hesitate to fire, shooting him straight in the chin.
Thud!
The man’s body went limp, falling to the side and almost landing on her. Thanks to her quick reflexes, Mint managed to roll onto her side.
"Hah," she breathed out, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Damn it."
As she sat up, her eyes landed on the man before faint voices echoed through the field. Perking up, she clicked her tongue and pulled the rifle from the man’s grip. She even picked up his shotgun just in case, before quietly moving away.
Meanwhile, the others who had heard the gunfire rushed toward the source. But when they reached the area, all they found was one of their men lying in a pool of his own blood.
"Find her," one of the men said, looking up at the others. "FIND THAT BITCH!"
---
Continuous gunfire rang out through the field as people sprinted, desperate to catch the woman.
BANG!
Mint ducked instinctively, glancing back as the shot rang out from behind her.
"Damn it!" she hissed, continuing her steps, searching for a way to shake them off. "This isn’t what I came here for."
What she wanted was to reach the mansion and infiltrate it with her team. After all, that’s where they were regrouping. But with these people chasing her in the field, they were wasting too much of her time.
BANG!
"Aw—" Mint’s steps faltered as pain suddenly shot through her shoulder.
She clasped her shoulder, feeling the sticky blood on her palm. But when she raised her hand to check, she realized she’d only been grazed.
"This is not good," she muttered to herself, her eyes scanning the surroundings before choosing to change direction. Instead of continuing ahead, she veered to the side and hid in the field, staying low.
Her breathing slowed as sweat began to form on her forehead. Mint crouched, rifle in hand, her senses heightened.
Soon, she heard footsteps—fast, hurried footsteps approaching. Keeping herself concealed in the tall grass, she waited until one of the men ran past her hiding spot.
"Where did she go?" one man asked his companion, scanning the area. "I’ll go in here, and you take that side."
The other man nodded, and they split up in search of Mint.
Little did they know, Mint was lying just a few feet from where they’d stopped. She sat behind the tall grass, even holding her breath in case they heard her. Once the sounds of their footsteps grew fainter, Mint cautiously moved back to her original position, knees bent to keep low.
Her destination was still the mansion, but staying on course would only take her farther from the main road. She had distracted them enough, leading them to search the area, but not the one they had already passed.
Besides, the trucks had likely already passed the main road.
With this in mind, Mint carefully navigated the field and retraced her steps back to the main road. Just as she expected, she was able to pass the dead body in the field without any issues.
This time, she didn’t rush. She carefully checked the road ahead, ensuring no one was lying in wait. When she was sure it was clear, Mint glanced back at the field and dashed forward.
"Suckers," she smirked, running alongside the road, her hand still clutching her injured shoulder.
But as Mint thought she had gotten away, something glinted at the corner of her eye. The smug smile on her face faded, even before she turned to check. Her steps slowed as a sharp pain seared through the back of her leg.
"Shi—" she stopped completely, reaching back to grab the wound, teeth clenched, before she collapsed forward, her body crashing to the road.
Thud!
Her body hit the road with a violent thud. However, she barely felt it as numbness rapidly spread throughout her body.
"Ugh..." she groaned, her vision blurring as her ears rang.
’No...’
She fought to stay conscious, her hand reaching out for her rifle to continue fighting. But just as her fingers brushed against it, her strength slipped away like water.
’Damn,’ she thought as her consciousness faded. ’I’m... I’m screwed.’
Mint struggled to keep her eyes open, catching sight of a pair of feet approaching. Her mind screamed for her to move, but in the next blink, her eyes closed, and everything went black.
The man who had shot her with a tranquilizer stood over her, his expression cold—no anger, no emotion. He looked at her the way one might look at a caught animal. Without a word, he pulled a pistol from his side, cocked it, and pointed it at her.
But then, somehow, despite Mint already unconscious, she was able to reach his feet and grab his ankle. The man paused and just stared at her. He quietly kicked her hand away, and this time, her hand just limped.
The man drew his lips into a thin line, then pointed the pistol at her.
BANG!
