Chapter 533: Chapter 533: Plaything

Zeng Yun closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, everything was clear. A smile returned to her face as if the sorrowful emotions from before had never existed.

"Jiang Keke, we’ve never been on opposing sides." Zeng Yun reminded as she saw the young girl in front of her remain silent.

Jiang Keke’s face flickered for a moment, and she pressed her lips together without speaking.

Seeing this, Zeng Yun kindly advised, "These wealthy heirs are heartless. In their eyes, people like us are no different; we’re just their playthings."

Upon hearing the word "plaything", Jiang Keke immediately showed a sinister smile.

"Miss Zeng must be brainwashed by men, right? A plaything? Hmph, not me." After saying this, Jiang Keke walked out arrogantly.

Her fleeing appearance seemed very childish in Zeng Yun’s eyes.

Thinking of Jiang Keke’s tender face, Zeng Yun murmured ominously, "Jiang Keke, you’ll understand someday."

When Jiang Keke and Zeng Yun returned to their seats one after the other, the desserts had already been delivered to the table.

The atmosphere between them was somewhat delicate, leaving only An Yin and Huang Yiyi to exchange a few pleasantries.

An Yin, worried that Jiang Keke felt uncomfortable, suggested leaving early, to which Jiang Keke naturally agreed.

Before leaving, Jiang Keke settled the bill for everyone. An Yin stood next to her, feeling quite uneasy as she listened to the cashier announce the amount.

An Yin walked absentmindedly out of the dessert shop, closely following Jiang Keke, "Keke, let me pay half of the expenses this time." After all, Huang Yiyi was considered her friend.

"Don’t fuss over this amount of money; it’s really nothing to me." Jiang Keke’s tone was somewhat heavy. After speaking, she noticed the other’s nervous expression and took a deep breath, trying to speak gently, "Yinyin, I’m not as strained as you imagine."

When the other person looked over, An Yin’s eyes dodged slightly. For a moment, An Yin felt that her friend beside her was somewhat unfamiliar.

"Alright, I know." An Yin mumbled.

Jiang Keke worried she wouldn’t believe her, so she said, "I’ve opened a shop."

"A shop? What kind of shop?" An Yin looked at Jiang Keke in shock.

Over the years they had known each other, Jiang Keke had talked about her family background, which was just as ordinary as An Yin’s.

Mentioning the shop she opened, Jiang Keke held her head high, brimming with confidence, "It’s still being renovated now, a bit of mystery for now, I’ll invite you to come and see it when it opens." Over the years at school, Jiang Keke frequently heard others talk about how impressive someone’s family background was and how remarkable their parents were, but now, she too had her own house and shop...something she couldn’t even have dreamed of before.

"Keke, you’re amazing!" An Yin congratulated her with a smile, but suddenly, she seemed to think of something and said, "Opening a store must require a lot of money, right?"

The two walked side by side in the spacious corridor, with a bustling crowd in the large shopping mall, mostly young people.

Jiang Keke was carrying a high-end luxury bag, dressed and accessorized with top-tier brands. She walked with her head held high, exuding a sense of superiority.

Hearing An Yin’s words, she didn’t want to hide anything, "I’ve been with Ah Cheng for so long, he ought to compensate me with something, right?" In reality, this shop had nothing to do with Bao Cheng; it was all supported by President Li behind the scenes.

"Then are you and Bao Cheng..." An Yin hesitated over whether she might stir up unpleasant memories, stopping midway to see the other’s reaction.

Seeing An Yin’s cautious appearance, Jiang Keke laughed, "He and I are the same as always."

The same as always?

An Yin was puzzled, "You haven’t broken up?"

"No." Jiang Keke’s eyes were calm; she couldn’t even see Bao Cheng’s shadow now, so how could she talk about breaking up? The messages she sent went unnoticed, and no one answered her calls. Evidently, he didn’t care about her.

An Yin fell silent, unsure of what to say next. The last time she had clearly seen Jiang Keke walking with a stranger at a hotel, and they were quite intimate.

Sensing An Yin’s silence, Jiang Keke combed her hair, "Don’t worry about me; let’s talk about you instead."

"Me?" The topic suddenly shifted to herself, causing An Yin to immediately think of Bao Shaojin, her cheeks quickly blushing, making her seem uneasy.

"Are you nervous?" Jiang Keke turned and stopped, smiling mischievously, clearly wanting to hear the gossip.

"No, I’m not." An Yin shook her head.

"Yinyin, whenever you’re nervous, you start to stammer." Jiang Keke pointed out.

Looking at An Yin’s blushing cheeks, she wouldn’t even need blush; her exquisite face was both delicate and radiant. A hint of jealousy arose in Jiang Keke’s heart, which she quickly suppressed.

"I just don’t know how to say it." Under Jiang Keke’s glare, An Yin quietly stuttered.

Regarding her previous relationship with Bao Shaojin, An Yin herself was somewhat confused; she could feel the man’s utmost care but their relationship still hadn’t progressed.

Quickly, An Yin thought of another issue, wondering if the reason their relationship hadn’t progressed was because of Bao Cheng?

"It’s alright; take your time, I’m listening." Jiang Keke observed An Yin’s face turning pale and softly comforted her.

"Bao Shaojin, do you remember him?" An Yin shyly asked.

"How could I not remember."

That man left such a strong impression, like a favored son of heaven, that Jiang Keke found it hard to forget.

"He treats me..." An Yin struggled to find the right words to describe their ambiguous relationship, feeling guilty, "He treats me quite well."

"Looks like I was right before; he likes you." A faint shadow appeared on Jiang Keke’s face.

Thinking that such a noble man had eventually fallen for An Yin, the dark side of Jiang Keke’s heart emerged.

"We’re just friends now." An Yin hurried to clarify their relationship.

Friends? Jiang Keke smirked. She wasn’t blind; previously at "Night Charm," she had seen that man hold An Yin in his arms with her own eyes, a scene of them nestling together still lingering in her memory.

Looking at the innocent and cheerful An Yin, Jiang Keke thought of herself and felt a pang of sadness. How was it that An Yin always attracted male attention without lifting a finger and was tenderly loved in relationships, while in contrast, although Jiang Keke gave her heart, the result was losing herself, both body and soul.

An Yin hadn’t noticed Jiang Keke’s expression. Standing there, stammering for quite a while, she planned to reveal her thoughts to her friend.
