Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother-Chapter 492: Crybaby
An Yin’s eyes flickered wildly; she just didn’t dare to meet the man’s deep gaze. Her breathing gradually quickened, the male presence was palpable, and she blurted out, "We, we are on the same team."
Bao Shaojin, hearing this, significantly softened his otherwise sinister expression. He quickly straightened his back, pulling away from her, as if the scene just now was merely An Yin’s imagination.
Seeing that the man had let go of her, An Yin hurriedly scrambled onto the bed. Only after covering herself with the blanket did she take a deep breath.
Bao Shaojin, now sitting on the sofa by the hospital bed, noted how the girl was like a turtle hiding in her shell, not daring to come out. He suddenly said, "If you want to eat shrimp in the future, tell me."
An Yin, "..." Is it about the shrimp now? Wasn’t it that he almost bullied her just now?
Seeing her silence, Bao Shaojin continued, "Aunt An did it for your own good. She stayed by your side all night, and because she wasn’t feeling well, she gave you a few instructions."
"I know she did it for my own good." An Yin poked her little head out of the blanket, her voice listless, "I didn’t mean to be rude to her just now."
Growing up, An Yin rarely angered An Ying. Even if An Yin was occasionally naughty, An Ying would indulge her.
However, An Ying overlooked the fact that her daughter was growing up and her self-esteem was getting stronger. Even if An Yin usually seemed timid and weak, she would talk back if she was uncomfortable.
Bao Shaojin listened quietly to her words, noting her guilty expression, and shook his head. The girl’s temper flared up quickly and subsided just as quickly.
Earlier she was like a fierce little leopard, but just a moment later she was back to being a little white rabbit; Bao Shaojin found it quite unsettling.
"Aunt An won’t blame you."
"I know." An Yin pouted slightly.
Then, in a rush, she sat up from the bed, hurriedly put on her shoes, and ran towards the lounge.
Soon, the room was filled with intermittent sobbing.
Bao Shaojin furrowed his brow tightly, feeling quite helpless, while inwardly lamenting: Crybaby!

During this time, Shi Qing discovered something very strange. Her always money-hungry mother would constantly come to her for money, yet since the New Year, her mother seemed to have vanished.
Out of curiosity, Shi Qing took a day off from her part-time job. When she stood at the gate and saw the completely renovated little house, she stood there dumbfounded.
It wasn’t until a neighbor passed by her house and saw Shi Qing standing at the door, hesitating to enter, that they remarked sarcastically, "Xiao Qing, did your family come into a windfall? Your mom’s been staying at the mahjong parlor, spending lavishly like a nouveau riche....."
The neighbor stood by, chattering non-stop, spilling all the gossip they had heard.
After listening, Shi Qing only felt a chill sweep over her body, "Auntie, I’ll head home first."
"Alright." The neighbor, seeing Shi Qing’s distracted demeanor, left on her own accord.
The once rundown house had new tiles on it, looking from afar like a new house.
Despite having so many doubts at the moment, Shi Qing tried to remain calm. When she approached the door and saw the newly installed smart lock, a deeply sarcastic smile crept upon her lips.
She didn’t believe her mother could have enough money to renovate the house.
Perhaps the inside had also been redone!
Shi Qing stood in front of her house but couldn’t get in, so she just waited.
At that moment her mother was definitely at the mahjong parlor. Shi Qing didn’t dare to call her mother because she knew that once her mother was at the mahjong table, she became maniacally absorbed. If she made that call now, she’d probably only get a scolding later.
In her mother’s heart, gambling had become her top priority.
Standing by the corner of the wall, Shi Qing could still smell the pungent scent of fresh paint, indicating that the renovation had just been completed.
At noon, her mother came back swaggering with a bag. Upon seeing Shi Qing, she paused momentarily before lifting her head arrogantly and gave Shi Qing a sweeping glance.
"You’re back." Her mother said, then moved in front of the door, lightly tapping the lock with her thumb. There was a "ding dong" and the door slowly opened.
"Mm." Shi Qing replied plainly and followed her mother inside.
Sure enough, the interior was a new sight altogether. Even the household appliances were all set up; Shi Qing looked at the bright interior and was momentarily stunned.
Was this her previously shabby home?
When her mother turned around, she saw her daughter’s astonished expression. She lifted her head proudly and sat down at the all-ceramic dining table in the center, gloatingly saying, "Surprised?"
This daughter had always been at odds with her, and if it weren’t for the sake of her deceased eldest daughter, her mother wouldn’t want to keep her around. Previously, things had escalated to the point of severing relations. Her mother had been in a rage at that time, and later, after realizing she had no money to spend on the New Year, she went out of her way to reconcile, finally burying the hatchet.
However, when the new semester began and the daughter set off for school, the mother braced herself for the difficult days ahead, only to encounter once again that notable benefactor.
The benefactor not only generously gave her a sum of money but also helped her renovate the old, run-down house, a windfall that seemed to fall right out of the sky for her mother.
However, she couldn’t let Shi Qing find out about this.
"Why did you come back all of a sudden?" Her mother placed the exquisite handbag on the soft chair beside her. Looking at the stuffed bag, her mood was perfect.
"Do I need a reason to come home?" Shi Qing’s eyes fell on her mother’s face, noting her ruddy complexion and even the new clothes she wore. Her heart filled with suspicion.
"You girl, do you never speak properly?" Her mother’s good mood vanished when she saw her daughter’s righteous face.
Shi Qing lowered her gaze, "Where did the money for the renovation come from?"
Although she knew her mother had some man friend, he wasn’t a fool and wouldn’t be foolish enough to spend so much money on her mother. Moreover, the men around her mother didn’t seem wealthy, as her mother often complained about their stinginess, which Shi Qing had heard clearly.
"What’s wrong with you, coming home with such a long face, as if I’d committed some heinous crime?" Her mother suddenly stood up, slapping the table loudly with her hand.
Her palm throbbed with pain as her mother let out a cold "hmph."
"I just want to know where you got the money." A thought suddenly flashed through Shi Qing’s mind, and she quickly asked, "Did you accept a dowry from someone again, trying to arrange for me to get married?"
Shi Qing was slight in build, with oversized glasses covering half her face and a defiant light in her eyes.
Her mother opened her mouth to retort, but upon considering her daughter’s stubborn nature, she knew that if she didn’t provide a convincing explanation, this wretched girl wouldn’t let it go.
