Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother-Chapter 490 Speaking
Bao Shaojin stood beside the hospital bed, looking down at her.
An Yin clutched the bedsheet tightly with both hands, not daring to meet the man’s sharp gaze.
What had she said to him just a short time ago? An Yin couldn’t recall at the moment, but she was sure her tone had been unkind.
Ugh...
An Yin wished she could dig a hole and bury herself in it, so she wouldn’t have to face the man’s stern face.
"Weren’t you quite spirited just now?" Bao Shaojin’s thin lips parted slightly, his sharp eyes falling on the girl’s delicate face.
An Yin bit her lip and remained silent.
"Gastroenteritis from eating spicy crawfish," Bao Shaojin said without anger despite her silence, "this is already the second time, isn’t it?"
The man’s tone was calm, giving no indication of anger, yet upon closer thought, the way he elongated the end of each sentence felt slightly off.
The ’second time’ he referred to made An Yin’s heart tense. She hadn’t expected his memory to be so good. The first time was at the man’s home when she ate cherries and ended up hospitalized that evening. Including now, this was indeed her second hospital visit.
The bedsheet was already wrinkled from her grip, and her face was ashen as she dared not make a sound.
If he was going to slaughter her, let him make it quick!
Was there any point in torturing someone like this?
"An Yin, speak."
The man wore a well-tailored black custom suit, the lines hard and the fabric exquisite, casting an unmistakable aura of luxury. At this moment, beneath those ink-like eyebrows, his eyes seemed like deep pools radiating a cold chill.
His voice was deep and hoarse with an indescribable dominance.
An Yin knew that if she didn’t speak up now, she was bound to offend him.
She pressed her lips together, the faint pallor on her face showing traces of fear, "How did you find this place?" After racking her brains, An Yin could only come up with this question, realizing the moment she spoke how stupid it sounded.
Hadn’t he said before that it wasn’t difficult for him to find out anything? Apparently, this was indeed the case.
Bao Shaojin lowered his eyes, his high nose below his lips forming a straight line. His gaze on An Yin contained a hint of darkness.
"What I said, have you forgotten so soon, hmm?" There was a glint of predatory sharpness in his black-and-white eyes.
Faced with his proud and aloof gaze, An Yin could only play dumb. She glanced around, hoping Aunt Zhang or Mrs. An would rescue her, but seeing the empty ward with just the two of them, An Yin ultimately fell into despair.
If she weren’t sick, Bao Shaojin would still want to give her a scare. He suppressed his inexplicable anger, speaking softly, "Is lying down uncomfortable?"
Bao Shaojin noticed her frequent squirming like there were fleas on the bed.
Two blushes immediately appeared on An Yin’s face. She had something embarrassing to say, and if Mrs. An were here, it would be okay. But it had to be a man standing here.
Bao Shaojin, seeing her silence, spoke sternly, "An Yin!"
The man’s face was cold and solemn, his words domineering. Just calling her name gave an inexplicable sense of urgency.
"I, I’ll say it." An Yin decided to just go for broke and closed her eyes, saying, "I soiled my pants, it’s uncomfortable."
Bao Shaojin froze, his brows deeply furrowed.
After saying what was on her mind, An Yin didn’t hear a reply for a while. She sneaked a peek with one eye open, only to see the man looking at her with a strange expression.
The man seemed to ponder for a moment, then forced out a sentence, "I’ll have Aunt Zhang come over."
An Yin was full of question marks; combined with the man’s cold and aloof face, she looked at him with embarrassment, "I, I got my period and soiled my pants."
Seeing the man’s face that seemed like he wanted to say something but couldn’t, An Yin felt intense shame and couldn’t help but curse herself inwardly.
Her previous statement was ambiguous. The man might have thought she had an accident in her pants? With this thought, An Yin just wanted to disappear quickly from the man’s sight.
"Hmm." Bao Shaojin let out a soft hum.
He had... misunderstood earlier.
However, seeing the young girl’s red and flustered face, Bao Shaojin was certain she had only just realized.
Seeing the timid demeanor of the girl, Bao Shaojin took a few steps back, then turned and walked towards the window, taking out his phone to make a call.
Seeing him walk away, An Yin quickly covered her burning cheeks with her hand, her breathing even becoming rapid.
Within half an hour, Assistant Lin arrived with bags of various sizes containing clothes for changing and some toiletries.
Even An Ying’s share was prepared.
When An Yin saw these things, she felt a complex mix of emotions, realizing she owed Bao Shaojin more and more.
Finally, she took the change of clothes to the bathroom. Since there was a needle in the back of her hand, she had to be extra careful not to get it wet while bathing. After her shower, she felt much better.
When she returned to the ward, she saw Aunt Zhang bent over the table by the window, placing bowls on the table from the food box one by one.
An Yin, with her keen sense of smell, smelled the aroma and her face lit up with joy. She cheerfully approached, "Aunt Zhang." After speaking, she swallowed, her bright eyes fixed on the plate of shrimp dumplings and various side dishes, ignoring the bowl of millet porridge.
Aunt Zhang turned her head to see An Yin with a gluttonous expression. She couldn’t help but glance not far away and seeing Mr. Bao’s gloomy face, she could only harden her heart and say, "The doctor mentioned you can only have bland foods right now. That bowl of millet porridge is quite suitable. Would you like to have it now or wait for it to cool a bit more?"
An Yin looked longingly at the table full of food, feeling torn inside, "I...," just as she was about to say she’d only eat a little, she felt a tall silhouette behind her, casting a shadow over her like Mount Tai, making her small figure tense and silent.
"What were you going to say?" Bao Shaojin didn’t miss her drooling appearance, his cold and sharp gaze resting ominously on her.
An Yin’s small body trembled, and she timidly replied, "I, I’m hungry and want porridge."
Aunt Zhang nearly laughed at An Yin’s pitiful tone. Only Miss An, with her soft and timid nature, would succumb to Mr. Bao’s intimidation.
"Aunt Zhang, give her a small bowl but don’t overindulge," Bao Shaojin instructed coldly.
"Alright," Aunt Zhang replied. She scooped a few spoonfuls into a small bowl, and when she turned, she saw An Yin’s bright eyes still hopelessly fixated on the delicious food on the table. Aunt Zhang’s heart softened, but with Mr. Bao present, she could only strengthen her resolve and look at the thin, weak girl, "Eat up."
"Aren’t you two eating?" An Yin asked instinctively, looking at the array of dishes on the table.
