Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother-Chapter 467: When Free
Lin Lin saw Su Jiaojiao nod and immediately felt her whole body relax, with the clouds in her heart dispersing.
Lately, because she often came to the Bao Family home, she occasionally saw Bao Shaojin himself. Unfortunately, his attitude towards her was quite indifferent and distant. Gradually, she began to seriously doubt whether the Bao and Lin families would unite through marriage. Su Jiaojiao’s words once again gave her confidence.
Lin Lin’s gaze fell on Su Jiaojiao, and even her tone softened, "From now on, we must remain in frequent contact and go shopping together."
Su Jiaojiao saw Lin Lin’s eyes twinkle, seemingly full of anticipation. She smiled slightly, though the smile didn’t reach her eyes, "Alright." Ever since she got engaged to Bao Cheng, Su Jiaojiao had mastered the art of perfunctory responses.
She knew Lin Lin wasn’t genuinely inviting her; it was just that both of them were destined to marry into the Bao family. Lin Lin’s words were merely to maintain appearances between them.

T University building.
After class, the crowd surged. An Yin, as usual, waited until most of them had left before she stepped out to avoid the congested hallways.
Reaching the spacious corridor, she slowly pulled out her phone, her eyes lingering on the name "Bao Shaojin" in her contacts.
While descending the stairs, her eyes flickered, as if she were brewing a difficult decision.
Reaching the corner, she focused entirely on the phone screen, ignoring the stairs beneath her feet. In a daze, her foot slipped, but she quickly grabbed the nearby railing, tightly clenching her phone in her other hand.
Once she steadied herself, she was so tense that cold sweat covered her body.
Whew...
So close, she almost tumbled down the stairs.
After taking several deep breaths to calm her fright, An Yin was about to put her phone in her pocket when she accidentally saw the screen.
The words "In Call" made An Yin hold her breath.
Until she saw the name "Bao Shaojin."
00:29.
00:30.
00:31.
...
The call duration was increasing second by second.
How did she accidentally dial the man’s number just now?
Whimper...
An Yin gripped her phone tightly with her fingertips, nervously raised her hand to her ear.
No sound came from the other end of the line.
An Yin, dragging her stiff body, fearfully went to a relatively uncrowded spot on the third-floor corridor.
"Hello?" She cautiously spoke.
An Yin had already thought it through: if the other side didn’t respond within three seconds, she’d hang up immediately.
"Hmm."
The man’s deep and husky voice came through the phone, startling An Yin as if an electric current passed through her body.
"Bao—Bao Shaojin, I—I..." An Yin’s mind went blank, and her words stuttered out.
"Speak properly."
The man enunciated clearly, in stark contrast to An Yin, and his tone seemed to carry a hint of indulgence.
An Yin propped a hand on the railing, her gaze falling on the distant sports field, watching the energetic boys gathering to play basketball. She suddenly lowered her eyes, and her anxious heart finally calmed down.
An Yin hesitated and said, "Last time, you paid the hospital expenses."
"Yes." Bao Shaojin uttered a single word.
"I want to know how much it was in total, so I can transfer it to you." An Yin said gently.
For a long time, the other side made no sound, and An Yin thought he had hung up until she saw on the screen that they were still connected, whereupon she sighed with relief.
"Bao Shaojin?" An Yin called his name again.
"One thousand." Bao Shaojin said coldly.
When An Yin heard the man’s words, she was slightly incredulous. However, recalling she had stayed in that hospital before and considering that Assistant Lin had mentioned Bao Shaojin had deep ties with the hospital, maybe they waived some miscellaneous fees for her?
An Yin dared not ask the man about the specifics of the hospital bill; his temper was bad, cold and dismissive—she couldn’t handle it.
After some consideration, An Yin softly murmured, "I’ll transfer it to you later."
"Anything else?" Bao Shaojin knew the girl’s nature; when it came to money, she was very exacting and didn’t like owing favors.
An Yin, blinking her bright eyes, put on a proud and imposing stance, speaking quickly, "Are you free now?"
After speaking, she was even breathing hurriedly.
"I am." The man’s low and husky voice softened tenderly.
An Yin quickly realized her question was too abrupt. To ease the awkwardness, she continued, "You’ve helped me many times, and I’d like to invite you to a meal."
An Yin’s explanation was weak. Heaven knows, unwittingly, her desire to see the man had grown stronger and stronger.
"I’ll make arrangements." Bao Shaojin unexpectedly replied.
"N-no way." Afraid he might overthink it, An Yin muttered, "The restaurants you choose are too expensive, I can’t afford it."
"This time, I’ll pick a cost-effective one." Bao Shaojin suddenly spoke.
He insisted on choosing the place himself, fearing the girl might take him to eat some bizarre dishes. The hotpot meal from before still left him apprehensive.
"Alright." Since he put it that way, An Yin had to agree, "This time I’ll foot the bill, and you can’t pay."
"Okay." His voice was cold and deep, inexplicably giving a sense of urgency, "Shall I send someone to pick you up?"
"No need, just send me the location." It’s easy to get a ride from school to the city, not to mention the man’s car was too conspicuous, always drawing others’ strange glances.
To live quietly at school, it’s best to avoid suspicion wherever possible.
"Hmm."
The man agreed succinctly.
After the call ended, the first thing An Yin did was transfer a thousand yuan to him. A few seconds later, seeing that he received the money, An Yin finally felt reassured.
On her way back to the dormitory, An Yin walked briskly.
What she didn’t know was that her face, recently filled with worry, now radiated with a sweet smile.
In less than seven minutes, An Yin returned to the dormitory. After putting down her backpack, she went to her wardrobe, looking at the pile of clothes, trapped in a difficult decision.
The pink jacket was too flashy, making her look childish.
The white one seemed too plain, ordinary.
An Yin took out each piece, laying them on the bed...
Shi Qing had just finished eating in the cafeteria and thought of staying in the dorm for a while. Upon opening the door, she saw An Yin holding a stack of clothes, standing by the bed with a bewildered expression.
The two had lived in the same dormitory for two or three years, and Shi Qing knew An Yin usually dressed plainly.
Now, suddenly wanting to dress up, Shi Qing found it hard to understand.
Shi Qing was about to pass An Yin and head to the bathroom to wash her hands, but An Yin, sharp-eyed, lit up upon seeing her arrive. She quickly approached Shi Qing, blinking her bright eyes, "Shi Qing, can you help me see which of these clothes go better with my jeans?"
There was a hint of urgency in An Yin’s eyes.
Shi Qing paused, putting away her scrutinizing gaze, and seriously observed An Yin’s clothes.
An Yin’s clothes were mainly sporty and loose, with generally light colors. After looking around, Shi Qing felt that no matter which piece, there wasn’t much difference.
