Chapter B4 Ch36: Para Fights Bianca

The amount of options Para had was staggering. It was beyond fighting close or attacking from afar.

She had absorbed multiple abilities from many of her victims, maxing out her Alpha and Beta Skills. Her traits dripped heavily with powers that enhanced her nightmarish profile. She even had a Thematic Law that made it impossible for others to take over any part of her, even if it was a separate strand.

Then there was her ability to use Aura Ignition, her trump card against those who had an edge against her in a physical setting. It worked as a double-trap against spellcasters who would think themselves safe from afar, such as Zarian, when in reality, Para could close the gap even faster with Aura Ignition.

She could beat Bianca instantly if she went all out.

But that would cost her the true prize – breaking Bianca’s inexhaustible and soulful spirit. Such a thing went beyond even the trappings and protections of the Willpower stat. Bianca was the type who would keep going even with broken Willpower.

I must hunt down her self-esteem and end it. I must do it at her level. So, Para held back, and that limitation cost her the first true hit.

For one second, she was tearing apart mountains and valleys with caustic dark spells and sorceries that enhanced the damage. In the next second, she was split into a hundred pieces sent scattered many miles in a cone of light.

There was a flash of pain and horror from all of her pieces. Bianca’s swordsmanship and intense power were damaging and scary, challenging Para’s dark nature, making it a little harder than usual for Para to pull herself together.

That proved to be her next mistake.

The moment her many pieces centralized, an immense blue sword came crashing down as if sent by the sun itself. If one were to look at it from space, it was like a vast entity had stabbed the world.

The attack broke through the crust and reached far below into the mantle. Lava squired out in great fountains like blood would. The volcanic geysers broke through the atmosphere and spread swiftly through space.

Bianca smiled down at the destruction as she absorbed the light from the lava. She fashioned a second personal sword in her free hand, pairing the glaring red light of the inner world with the bright blue light from the star.

Para reconstituted herself with a growl. Instead of separating from being crushed and skewered underneath the mighty sword, she endured. She pointed up and activated a powerful Beta Skill: Continent-Breaker Umbral Bolt.

The molten rock around her raced away in a concussive wave upon emission. The umbral bolt darted up the length of the massive sword, skimming the surface before colliding with the guard and annihilating the top in a brilliant dark explosion. The rest of the sword construction rained down as glittering shards.

Bianca had already dodged away swiftly. Para was tracking closely this time as she used another beta Skill: Fate-Eating Spider Snare.

The names were fanciful. It made sense since she’d taken them from godlings.

Para flew out from the earth mundanely as webs spun from fate phased into the material world. Each thick strand appeared in Bianca’s direction, forcing the wondrous woman to divert constantly or get captured.

She tried slashing them, granting her some success. But each attack slowed her marginally. That made it easier for the next stand and the next after that to threaten her. They didn’t seem like much, but once caught, Bianca would get stuck like a fly in a web.

“I hope you understand it’s not enough for me to just beat you, Bianca,” Para said smoothly. “You’ve dared to challenge me, an Ultra Goddess. And you’ve embarrassed me. I need you to be broken, please.”

“Huh? What? Sorry, I’m busy dancing!”

Bianca flipped around another fated snare meant for her back. She twirled like a majestic bird as multiple strands tried to cut her off, each still missing their mark. She grew more comfortable despite the mounting pressure, making a mockery of Para’s power.

Para’s eye-twitched. Why did it feel like she was getting caught up in Bianca’s game when it should be the other way around?

Moving on, Para added void magic carefully while using sorcery to protect the fated skill. Void and fate didn’t mix well. No matter. She only needed access to the void to spew her hidden army of eldritch and parasite-turned monstrosities.

They came rushing out, some caught on the strands and consumed by the spiders of fate. Others consumed the strands of fate in return. The pressure Bianca had to face rose to a degree that should have been too much to overcome. Spidery snares shot at her from the air, and eldritch horrors filled with Para’s deadly power attacked from all directions.

I’m sorry, Bianca. But … this is the way of things.

Para stuffed the brief note of sadness underneath the internal sea of hunger and anger. She watched the mass of horrors clash into a violent and maddened orgy of flesh, bone, and caustic blood, all squeezed into one big ball. Strands of fate wrapped around the withering mass to consume, be consumed, and trap it all together. Then Para applied another powerful Beta Skill: Banquet of Entropy.

The webbed-up and fleshy eldritch ball became the subject of a different hunger. A cold death that would spread to every system eventually. The fated strands lost their glossy luster and became brittle, adding to the banquet.

The slavering, gibbering, maddened monsters enjoyed the opposite effect. Since they were things of the void, entropy was a close friend. They became even more empowered, absorbing the weakened strands. Their gory orgy intensified, making it so that no creature of light and goodness should be capable of escaping them unmarred and untainted.

Yet, something was wrong.

Para didn’t understand the issue until she closed the void portals and stopped pouring forth her horde. The moment the last parasite-ridden thing latched onto the ball of entropy and madness, it became obvious that the sphere was lighter than it should be.

Or less dense.

Para felt it like a gravity well that was losing its hold. Or like how there was less taint and evil being spread about than there should be. She watched as the impossible happened: an unstoppable force hollowed out Para’s summoned forces. Eventually, Bianca burst free in a cascade of swift and sharp sword swings, all blue and red and bright.

Only then did Bianca stop, swords lowered at her sides.

Para blinked. “Did you just cut your way out from the middle on purpose?”

“Si!” Bianca smiled proudly. “It was a good workout! Great for my growth. Those were some strong baddies.”

“You foolish girl! One mistake would’ve ended you!” Para searched Bianca’s person. Miraculously, there was not a parasitic strand inside of her. For now. “Why are you tempting your doom? I’m only allowing this nonsense because it’ll be too pathetic for me to end you outright!”

“That’s why I’m doing it, silly. You’re my friend, and fighting you is unpredictable and fun! Zarian’s busy, and Naomi isn’t much of a challenge for me right now until she catches up.” Bianca flapped her iridescent wings and swooped through the air like a multi-colored bird. “And I can tell you’re having fun, too! You can try out your new powers on me and see what happens.”

“He’s going to leave us behind, you know? To finally put to rest the issue with Aunt Ariana,” Para said darkly. “He’s breaking the oath.”

Technically, Zarian hadn’t declared an oath to bring his friends with him. But he’d acted in a way that suggested it. The weight of those actions had left their mark, enough so that it would become a significant enough betrayal even if everybody understood why.

Bianca shook her head. “He’s not breaking anything. He’s provided all that he could. It’s on us to catch up and stay glued to his hip. And if that means I’d have to carry the others so Zarian could worry less, then I’d do it.”

“You can’t be serious. Are you declaring yourself as the leader?”

“Si!”

“Is Naomi going to allow that?”

Bianca nodded enthusiastically. “In Naomi’s words, ‘Bitch, you’re strong and badass. I got your back.’” Bianca burst into a fit of giggles before carrying on. “Gilbert’s fine with it. Hannah’s annoyed, but you know how Hannah can be. She’ll follow me even if she’s jealous.”

“I still can hardly believe it.”

“That’s okay! I’ll just show you and Zarian! I’ll be the leader, and let Zarian be himself, our friendly neighborhood dark god!”

Bianca’s words rang with promise. More importantly, they rang with potential greatness that went beyond her mortal capability.

Somewhere up above, a seat of power made itself known. The Throne of the Adventurer King became a powerful figment in Para’s imagination. There was a new heir for it now, and Para wasn’t sure what to think of that. Her hesitation invited another voice, one that was more sinister than any other.

“Hello, new niece of mine. May I stay in your corner and pass down some wisdom?” the voice of the greatest evil appeared from beside Para. It could only be her, The Dragoness.

“Hey, Ari!” Bianca waved cheerily while slowing her buzzing flight. “I was wondering when we’ll get to meet again!”

The draconic monstress appeared as a young woman with long talons extending from every digit. Her wings stretched far for hundreds of feet in both directions despite her short frame draped in a simple slip of a white dress. If it weren’t for the crushing evil she exuded, and the obvious monstrous parts of her, she would’ve seemed innocent.

“My dear, it would be best if you eliminated this one,” Ariana said, ignoring Para’s hesitation. Para couldn’t imagine herself turning away her aunt. The avatar felt too heavy, too powerful, too dark.

Ariana took that as consent to continue. “It’s obvious that you’re more like me. The anger and hunger fill your entire being, don’t they? Granting no relief. Yet, you must suffer it alone while our male counterparts get to gallivant freely and enjoy themselves without true burden. Is that not fair, oh new niece of mine?”

Para opened and closed her mouth, afraid to speak. The anger was endless. The hunger hollowed her to the root. To give voice to either would risk breaking the thin thread that kept her sane.

“Even now, Zarian turns away from his responsibilities while fulfilling his pleasures with some old elven wretch. You can easily teach him the error of his ways now.” Ariana waved her taloned hand toward Bianca.

“Hey! Don’t be so mean to Abuela Ruvaria! She’s trying her best! And Zarian makes her happy, and she makes Zarian happy!” Bianca sounded serious.

Something inside Para snapped. “But what about my happiness?! I belonged to him, and he belonged to me! Why did he cast me away like that?! What good is this freedom if all my existence is nothing but suffering?!”

By the time she finished, Para found herself held in Ariana’s arms. It was an awkward arrangement, with Para’s body being larger and more multifaceted until she shifted into a simpler form. She relented to The Dragoness, to her aunt, knowing what this meant.

“Share your anguish fully. Make it your weapon, Para,” Ariana whispered into her ear. “End Bianca Garcia. Consume her. Make her one of yours. And teach Zarian a lesson.”

“Yes, yes, you’re right.” Para slowly separated from her aunt. “What’s our saying? Fuck around and find out? I suppose you must bear the brunt of that, dear Bianca.” Para smiled widely. “But do not worry. Once you’re mine, all will be well. It will feel like you were always meant to be mine.”

Para unleashed a host of powers from her traits, alpha skills, and beta skills. Leading the forefront were some of the more creative skills she’d stolen from consuming the children of the gods.

Madness Fermentation created a vacuum that removed sanity and worked on destroying the Willpower of Para’s prey. It appeared as a darkened zone that made the air laugh and weep, the earth melt and ripple, the rivers bleed and scream. The zone covered half the planet while centered on Bianca.

Great Aura-Life Leech created an ecto-plasmic worm that faded out of Para’s body, its maw turned toward the nearest source of aura. It crashed down into the ground below and broke through the crust. It gulped aura and life out of the world and fed it directly to Para, killing every weak creature touching the ground.

Spite Ward Armor layered Para’s body in reactive defense arrays that promised to return pain to anything that struck her. By using Force of Stolen Sorcery, she enhanced the ward armor even further. She added a spell from her Grimoire of Hungry Hexes that could trigger a blood price along with her ward armor’s magic.

She coated the air with void magic around her, wearing it like a cape that made reality screech in horror.

Only then did Para reshape her body into something like an Amazonian, beautiful and powerful. She fashioned a bone sword in her right hand and a strapped kite shield in the other. Then she unlocked 5% of Devouring Darkness and layered it over her sword and the edge of her shield. Her void cape fed into her darkness, too.

The power at Para’s disposal would scare Ruvaria. It was killing the world beneath them. Yet Bianca remained undisturbed and ready to face her head on, shining like a beacon of hope against the overwhelming tide of evil.

Para came to an interesting conclusion. If there is one person who is Zarian’s greatest achievement … it is her. The heart of freedom. The light who exists in harmony with his darkness.

With anger and hunger, Para dashed in to snuff that light. It only took a few exchanges, their blades colliding at rapid speeds, sparks of light and darkness shooting in all directions, when Para cut the back of Bianca’s left hand and infected her.
