Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 66: Win & Lose, Departure
Chapter 66: Win & Lose, Departure
In the next moment, Rakin’s aura surged and he turned like a reaper with shining dark green wind.
Azeliz’s expression changed. "Stop!"
*Slash!*
John’s hand still holding his pistol flew up while blood spurted out like a fountain.
For a second, John felt a blur before an intense pain flooded his mind.
But when he looked ahead, he saw a familiar face closed in with his cut off hand flying towards him and sticking back.
Azelis grabbed his hand before using a skill, healing him.
Meanwhile, Rakin dropped his sword as a clang rang, his face pale.
"I’m sorry...I am truly sorry," Rakin said as he knelt, his head down. "I just felt threatened and instinctively used my Pet Monster’s skill."
Using Soul Synergy and Pet Monsters’ skills was not allowed in this duel ring!
The audience was dead silent before the talks began.
"Well, what’s done is done. But who won?"
"I never thought I would see Rakin mess up like that."
"It’s fine, brother Rakin. Mistakes happen."
"But that just means this John Wicked made him make the mistake."
"Yeah, that slide-dodge and no-look-back shot from his pistol was crazy."
"The Gun is quite a weapon, eh? Not many use it though. No one is even selling them in the city..."
"Yeah, the gun is quite powerful. The bullet’s speed and power this guy displayed was scary."
"You also need the skill to use a gun like him."
"Yeah, this guy’s combat is messy but strangely cool and precise."
"That Geno Ability is helping him make those moves."
But the audience suddenly turned silent again as Azelis looked past John’s shoulder and straight at Rakin with a glare. "That’s not a great example to set for other Tamers, Rakin. If you can’t properly act at a threat, what’s the use of training and control? Go and do 1000 push-ups, right now!"
John looked at his hand that Azelis fixed before turning his head slightly and coldly glancing at Rakin. ’This motherfucker did that deliberately.’
’I’ll pay you back for this.’
"Alright, John. Enough sparring. Let’s go and get ready. We’ll depart in a bit."
Azelis stood up as she completely healed John’s hand and waved her hand, causing herself and John to envelop into a shadow before they vanished and arrived back at the courtyard.
The audience was silent briefly while Rakin had already vanished like a wind and so did the Executives.
Lesly awkwardly smiled before she clapped her hand, attracting attention, and said, "Alright, everyone! We are going to do a small tournament of combat duels right now. As you all see, if you don’t rain, juniors like John will overtake you."
"Sounds great! What’s the prize for the first-place winner, teacher Lesly?"
"Yeah, I’m in! I feel like having some good combat after seeing that John Wicked fight."
"He’s talented. Maybe teacher Azelis knew his potential and that’s why she wanted to make him her first apprentice."
"True, but I wish I saw his pets."
"Yeah, I heard he got a powerful Silver-rank wolf of some elite high-ranking potential species."
...
"Teacher, that bastard did that deliberately," John said with a snort.
"I know," Azelis said as she summoned her dragon and got herself and John on it as they flew away in the southeast. "That bastard thought he could hide it from me, but it was as plain as daylight in my and the other two Executives’ eyes."
John blinked. "Why did he do that?"
Azelis shrugged. "No idea. Maybe he didn’t want to lose and get knocked down by you. If that 100 soul energy bullet struck him, he would been knocked out completely with a wound at his back."
Smiling, she added, "Not bad. I wasn’t expecting you to win, but your thinking threw Rakin off and you got him. It’s your win."
John rubbed his nose. ’No way in hell I can lose to a wet-eared brat, especially that bastard.’
John had high soul sensitivity, so when Rakin was cursing John in his mind after finding out about Azelis wanting to make John her apprentice, John could feel the nasty intent directed at him from Rakin.
John didn’t know what Rakin was thinking, but he could feel it wasn’t anything good. And given that Azelis also told him not too lose, John wanted to win.
That was why he was super focused from the start, made use of Rakin’s own wind, and made that confusing move to dash at Rakin head-on even though that was completely foolish for a range-fighter with a gun like him to do.
But by doing that, he baited Rakin, slid-dodged, and was going to end the battle with a bang.
"Heh, it was going to be an ugly loss for him," John grinned. "Well, if not today, then later. Now I am even more determined to beat the crap out of him five days later."
"For that, you will really need to train your Pets a lot," Azelis wryly smiled. "Rakin’s Silver-rank Pets are at the peak. Each of them has an Innate Talent, at least one level 2 Mastery, and proper skill-sets, not to mention their stats are as close as they can be to 100 or have reached 100 in one or two parameters of his Monsters."
"To do all of that in five days is almost impossible without having super-talented pets as well as resources," Azelis said, her expression turning somber. "John, don’t let this fight influence you. Train with a stable mindset. Don’t be reckless and end up doing something you might regret."
"The important thing is not to defeat Rakin five days later, but to defeat him and others in the Nexus City Tournament next month."
"Not just to become my first apprentice, but to also gain momentum as a Tamer and resources."
John smiled. "Got it. I am not going to be reckless. No worries. But my pets are super talented and I am a super tamer, so I might even defeat him five days later, who knows?"
"Yeah, yeah, cheeky brat. I hear you. Now sit tight and lean against the barrier. I am going to speed up."
A barrier appeared around John, and in the next second, the black dragon’s body glowed before black wind currents suddenly hummed around and... zoom!
John’s back was struck by the barrier as the dragon flew at a crazy fast speed!
’Holy crap! What speed is this? Mach 3? Mach 4? Damn!’
