Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 88: Trying to Run Again?
Scarlett Shaw glanced at the hand stopped in front of her.
Saying she’s not moved, doesn’t want to grab it, must be a lie.
But——
Scarlett straightened her body, hands tucked behind her back, and said, "Julian Ford, kissing you just now made me feel guilty. Can you just not be ambiguous with me anymore?"
Julian’s expression didn’t change. Seeing she wouldn’t extend her hand, he simply took her hand directly, leaving her no chance to resist.
Scarlett was led by Julian back to the BMW.
Julian sat in the driver’s seat, glanced at her, and seeing she was still tense, mercifully leaned over to buckle her seatbelt, and then said:
"My marriage with the Walsh Family is a business alliance, without any emotional foundation. You must have heard about the long-term cooperation news between Veridian and Walsh Bank at the company recently."
Scarlett frowned, "What do you mean by this? You’re married, which means you have a family. Are you planning to betray your family? Even if you want to, don’t involve me."
Julian took off his coat, tossed it onto the back seat, and with his long fingers, unbuttoned two shirt buttons and said:
"Just playing their own games."
Scarlett recalled the few times she ran into the Walsh Family’s daughter and said, "You’re too grandiose. I saw Miss Walsh, she seems quite interested in you and wants a proper life."
Julian gazed at her indifferently, "You barely know her; what do you understand."
"I don’t understand others, but I understand myself. Julian, if you want to fool around, that’s your business, but you can’t drag me into it."
Scarlett firmly waved her hand at him.
Julian chuckled, "Scarlett, don’t deceive yourself. You actually enjoy this feeling too, don’t you."
Scarlett glared at him, "I certainly don’t. Don’t just cause drama for me."
Julian started the car, his hand on the steering wheel, his expression calm, "Don’t forget, that night at the bar, you were the one who flirted with me first. Deep down, you also seek excitement. Oh, and you even sent Ryan Ford those kinds of photos, only mistakenly sent them to me."
Scarlett was rendered speechless by these words.
That night at the bar, she was just venting her frustration; anyone who drank too much and saw a handsome guy could barely control themselves.
The fault was Julian’s face was just too attractive, hitting every aesthetic point for her.
Getting carried away, alcohol in play, blinded by lust.
With all elements in place, wouldn’t she still be a woman if she didn’t kiss him?
Of course, Scarlett would never disclose her true thoughts to Julian. The fact she liked him already put her at a disadvantage. If he learned she had a crush on his face, he would definitely stomp her confidence to the ground.
Regarding that photo.
Scarlett thought for a moment and said, "At that time, Ryan was my boyfriend. What’s wrong with sending such photos to one’s boyfriend?"
Besides, the photo wasn’t as indecent as Julian said.
It was just that her expression was intentionally exaggerated.
However, as soon as she said this, the car sped up suddenly. Scarlett reflexively grabbed the seatbelt, feeling uneasy and nervous, she said, "Julian, can you not drive like Jasper Spencer, as if you’re on a death wish!"
One mention of Ryan, another of Jasper Spencer.
Although Scarlett was speaking the truth, these words in Julian’s ear were like stepping into a landmine.
Julian remained silent, expression unchanged, yet the car’s interior felt chilled, as if permeated by ice, despite the heater being on, Scarlett felt inexplicable cold rising from her back and head.
This bastard, unhappy again.
Scarlett felt ashamed of her sense of insecurity, possibly heightened by her emotional involvement, making her overly sensitive to Julian’s mood swings.
"By the way, Julian, why were you at the bar alone that night?"
To ease the tension, Scarlett shifted the topic to the angry man.
The speed of the car slowed down instantly, Julian’s gaze deepened, and his side profile grew slightly stiff.
He glanced at her without the previous coldness and said, "What’s this about your boyfriend that Jasper Spencer mentioned?"
Scarlett reflexively countered, "I asked you first."
Julian calmly said, "I don’t need to answer every single one of your questions."
"..."
Scarlett softly said, "Then I refuse to answer too."
Julian spoke quietly, "You sure?"
"..."
Scarlett’s not-so-firm resolve crumbled under Julian’s calm gaze as she said, "What else could it be? It’s obviously fake. I explained to you at the ski resort too."
"That’s not what I want to hear."
Julian leisurely parked the car, got out, walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, and looked down at her slowly asking:
"Scarlett, what I want to know is, who were you thinking of when you mentioned ’boyfriend’ to Jasper Spencer."
Scarlett’s foot on the ground stiffened, her expression slightly stunned.
At that moment, her thoughts naturally revolved around that unlucky Aaron Carson.
But now, the word ’boyfriend’ coming out of Julian’s mouth sparked a fleeting inappropriate fantasy in Scarlett’s mind, causing her heart to pound heavily, her mood plummeting abruptly.
She pressed her lips together, remaining silent.
Julian’s gaze turned cold, "Still thinking of Ryan, huh."
"Julian, I’m not obligated to explain everything I think to you."
Scarlett unbuckled the seatbelt and got out of the car, closing the door and facing Julian directly.
"I’m single now, so naturally I have the freedom to date a boyfriend. Besides, whoever I’m thinking of, you’re just my boss; outside of work, none of it concerns you."
Scarlett said these words, maintaining a calm facade.
But inside, she was terribly nervous.
Although she felt what she said was reasonable, Julian’s thought process was not like ordinary people, unpredictable as he was, one wrong word might provoke him to create unnecessary trouble for her.
However, Scarlett didn’t anticipate Julian’s reaction to be calmer than she expected.
Even the chill he emitted earlier faded a bit.
He suddenly said unexpectedly, "So, who do you plan on dating then?"
Scarlett was momentarily dumbfounded and blurted out, "Definitely not you."
Julian chuckled softly, his voice low.
Despite the circumstances, when the man laughed, still strikingly handsome, it intimidated Scarlett more than when he’s indifferent.
She straightened her back, defiantly glaring at him, "Why are you laughing."
Julian raised his hand to squeeze the back of her neck, "Had an amusing thought."
"?"
Scarlett was puzzled, unconsciously dodging his touch.
Perhaps with a pang of conscience, Julian didn’t continue touching her, casually retracting his hand and stepping towards the elevator area, signaling for her to follow.
When the elevator reached the first floor, as Scarlett stepped out with one foot, she was pulled back by her collar by Julian, "Trying to run again?"
