Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 3: The Most Virtuous Ex-Boyfriend
Ryan Ford, that wild and frenzied dog, obediently softened at the instant Julian Ford’s cool words fell, and greeted:
"Bro."
"Right at the company entrance, you dare to fool around."
Julian Ford’s voice was calm like water, without waves, yet carried a force that was deeply intimidating.
For a moment, the scene was quiet as a chicken.
Scarlett Shaw took the opportunity to sneak away.
Just kidding, being caught by the boss for being late is too embarrassing.
At the entrance, Julian Ford and Ryan Ford faced each other, the former’s gaze indifferent, "Weren’t you just playing around? Playing right at the company entrance, trying to let everyone know the green pastures over her head are all yours?"
Ryan Ford’s face turned black with a hint of green, "Bro, I know what I’m doing."
"If you know what you’re doing, then scram."
Julian Ford’s voice was slightly cold.
"The company is not a place for your romantic affairs."
Ryan Ford knew he was in the wrong, stifled by anger with nowhere to vent, and kicked his own Cayenne hard.
Julian Ford turned and went into the company.
...
Investment department.
After a day’s work, Scarlett Shaw received three personal messages.
One was from a creditor demanding payment after her father’s bankruptcy and suicide.
Another was from her aunt Penelope Shaw, asking for living expenses.
The last was the hospital bill from the nurse taking care of her grandmother.
Scarlett Shaw glanced at her bank card balance, sighed, and contacted Yana Yarrow, asking for help in finding suitable side jobs.
Yana Yarrow, having been her friend for years, knew her situation and agreed immediately.
Soon after, she called Scarlett, "Ryan Ford, eh? Playing dead again?"
"We broke up."
Scarlett Shaw worked overtime, intending to leave only when it was late at night.
Yana Yarrow said, "Finally broke up, Scarlett-the-Turtle-ninja-Shaw."
Scarlett Shaw’s mouth twitched, she touched her nose, "Do you think now that I’ve broken up with Ryan Ford, he’ll ask back the millions he gave me when my grandmother was critically ill?"
"Can’t say for sure."
Yana Yarrow dared not make definitive statements either.
"But Ryan Ford, apart from being a playboy, has a pretty good reputation in the circle; he’s generous to women. If he made you a hat stand and then asks for the money back, that’d be really cheap, he’d disgrace the Ford family."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
Maybe it was Yana mentioning the Ford family.
Julian Ford’s aloof and perfect face suddenly intruded into her mind.
Scarlett Shaw gathered her thoughts, chased this imposing figure out of her head.
Hanging up the phone, a perfume scent wafted by her, and Scarlett Shaw paused.
If she remembered correctly, the scent lingering in Ryan Ford’s car was the same.
"Sis."
Just exiting from the neighboring finance department, Chloe Grant, also getting off work at this time, looked coolly at her and nodded as a greeting.
Scarlett Shaw’s eyes narrowed slightly, using the elevator hall’s light, her gaze fleetingly fell on the faint kiss mark on her pale neck.
"Are you in a relationship?"
She asked casually.
Chloe Grant’s expression flickered, she laughed lightly, "Yes, if there’s a chance, I’ll introduce them to you."
Chloe Grant is Penelope Shaw’s daughter, Scarlett Shaw’s cousin, their ages close, only two months apart.
They had a good relationship as kids.
However, since Scarlett Shaw’s family incident, after her father passed, her mother disappeared, leaving her in her aunt Penelope Shaw’s care, her relationship with Chloe Grant gradually became distant.
The two sisters, seemingly amiable but secretly distant, parted ways after a few words.
Scarlett Shaw received a callback from Yana Yarrow the next day.
A high-end restaurant’s pianist happened to have issues at home, needing someone to cover.
Scarlett Shaw hurried over after work.
The manager, knowing she was recommended by Yana Yarrow, asked her to try playing two songs. Seeing no issues, he had her start immediately.
After playing for an hour, Scarlett Shaw unintentionally glanced up at the restaurant entrance, locking eyes with Julian Ford’s indifferent dark eyes.
The man seemed to have just glanced unintentionally, his detached gaze did not linger, and he quickly started conversing with the similarly attired businessmen beside him.
Ryan Ford, that dog-man, a jerk indeed, but his face is undeniably handsome.
After looking at Ryan Ford’s face for years, Scarlett Shaw considered herself immune to handsome guys.
Yet her gaze lingered on Julian Ford for a few extra seconds.
No other reason, just pleasing to the eye.
She suddenly recalled three years ago, still in college, when she had a direct encounter with Julian Ford.
At that time, Julian Ford donated a building under his name to their school, becoming the youngest honorary director, and gave a speech at the school celebration.
Ryan Ford brought her and Julian Ford out for a meal that day.
The man’s innate sense of pressure and detachment was too intense, Scarlett Shaw’s heart was set on Ryan Ford then, and she barely exchanged glances, only peeking at him from afar when the gathering ended.
He stood tall by the street, indifferent and noble.
His sharp eyebrows and eyes, cold and tough, his facial features deeply etched, truly the top-tier looks.
That day, Julian Ford drank alcohol, and a young woman came to pick him up, the two walked hand in hand to the car.
Scarlett Shaw heard that Julian Ford attended college abroad, and donated funds because his first love attended that school.
She remembered the name Ryan Ford mentioned the night before—
Zoe Sutton. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
This revelation hit her hard, realizing that even a gifted individual like Julian Ford resorted to drinking over a breakup with a woman.
When Yana Yarrow arrived, Scarlett Shaw was resting on the side.
Playing piano at the restaurant required a special formal gown, she was wearing a long dress, sitting quietly, seemingly desolate, yet her bright almond eyes stood out.
Yana Yarrow walked over, wrapped her arm around her shoulder, "I was worried you’d be lamenting over breaking up with Ryan Ford, but now it seems I was overthinking."
Scarlett Shaw looked at her faintly, "I made the breakup, why would I be sad."
"I told you back then, the idea of a reformed rogue is only something you find in novels, right?"
Having been close for years, Yana Yarrow unreservedly jabbed at her soft spot.
"Besides, nowadays, even the rogues in novels have to be fake rogues, clean and proper, Ryan Ford is such a rogue, there’s no going back."
"Not to mention, his reckless nature, even his father can’t handle him, only in front of his brother Julian Ford will Ryan Ford turn from a mad dog into a meek Pekingese."
Scarlett Shaw was annoyed hearing Julian Ford’s name.
They promised to delete the photos, but turned around and reneged, being a dog isn’t far from Ryan Ford.
"But speaking of which, Scarlett," Yana Yarrow suddenly lowered her voice, curiously asked, "Ryan Ford never touched you but dated you for three years, what was he after?"
Yana Yarrow truly found it curious.
Her Scarlett, with her alluring looks, Ryan Ford managed to hold back, yet went for outside affairs; it must be a wiring issue somewhere in his brain.
Scarlett Shaw had no clue.
Thought for a moment, she casually said, "Probably wanted to prove he could maintain gentlemanly conduct with his girlfriend."
Yana Yarrow agreed, nodding, "True, in novels the most gentlemanly conduct is usually shown by the heroine’s ex, not even touching a finger after the breakup or divorce."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
After a brief chat with Yana Yarrow, Scarlett Shaw was about to continue playing piano.
The phone buzzed, a message came.
She opened it.
"..."
The photo she sent to Julian Ford, an intimate picture, was sent back to her by him!!
