Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 207: She Made All Her Own Choices
Ezra Ford’s face, rarely showing much expression, briefly furrowed his brow, and an ambiguous emotion flickered in his eyes.
But it was very brief, and since he was used to being expressionless, Ryan Ford was currently overwhelmed with anger, only focused on demanding the truth, completely missing these details.
"Old man, what exactly did you say to Scarlett when you met her alone?!"
Ezra Ford, being a cunning old fox, understood with just two words from Ryan what was going on and said with a smile, "She parted ways with Julian after all."
"It really was you!!"
Ryan was mad with rage, wishing he could kick over the entrance cabinet.
Ezra Ford merely glanced at him indifferently and said unhurriedly:
"What’s the use of your impotent rage at me? Wasn’t it you who initially suggested to me that Benjamin Shaw’s company had good prospects?"
"Since he was unwilling to cooperate, only downfall awaits. In business, it has always been a life or death struggle, survival of the fittest. He lost, so he must bear the consequences."
"Moreover, to truly trace the root cause, wasn’t it your actions that led to the inevitable separation of Julian and Scarlett?"
Ryan’s peach blossom eyes full of anger froze due to Ezra Ford’s calm yet mocking words.
His expression stiffened slightly.
Soon, it was covered with a layer of ice, and he said coldly, "I can bear the consequences of my actions, but what gives you the right to interfere in Scarlett’s departure?"
"I merely told her the truth, and the choices were hers to make. However, since she chose to leave at this point, it seems her feelings for Julian were shallow, unable to withstand any storms."
Ezra Ford, adjusting his suit, spoke breezily.
At this moment, he returned to his cold and ruthless demeanor, as if the sleepless father worrying about his son a few days ago was just a facade.
Ryan clenched his fists tightly, veins bulging, his body full of hostility:
"Ezra Ford, you’re fucking heartless!"
"The doctors and Josiah have emphasized to you countless times that my brother’s illness has severe nervous problems! His emotions can’t be further agitated! You controlled him for so many years, and even when he’s most vulnerable, you fucking took the opportunity to hurt him!!"
"I admit I did foolish things; I have no excuse. When my brother recovers, he and Scarlett can hold me accountable as they please! But why did you do it? Why did you have to tell Scarlett at this point? I think you fucking want my brother dead!"
"Bastard!"
Ezra Ford raised his hand and slapped Ryan across the face, his chest heaving with anger.
"Since when do you have the right to point fingers at your father?!"
"I must have indulged you too much over the years, allowing you to be so disrespectful and presumptuous before me!"
Ezra Ford, too, was fuming due to Ryan’s words.
Yet he had no intention of reasoning with this stubborn and rude son.
With just a glance, the bodyguards at the door rushed in, surrounding Ryan tightly in a wall of human bodies, impermeable by any means.
"It’s my negligence as a father to have indulged all your bad habits." Ezra Ford calmly and elegantly adjusted his cuffs as he spoke.
"You’re not young anymore; you’ll be thirty in two years. You’ve played enough. Now that Julian needs to recuperate, stay home and focus, learn to manage the company, and eventually help Julian with his burdens."
Leaving these words, Ezra Ford got in his car and departed the Ford Mansion.
As for the leftover bodyguards, they weren’t to be trifled with.
No matter how good Ryan’s skills were, it wasn’t possible to fight eight men alone; he’s no Alvin Zane and didn’t have a spear in hand, after just a few moves, he was tightly pinned down.
"Second young master, apologies."
Three to five sturdy men directly pushed Ryan back to the upstairs room.
At the door, sounds came from the end of the corridor, and Ryan instinctively turned his head to look.
Freya Pierce stood in the distance, against the light, her face indistinct, but her slim and fragile body, under the sun, made her skin seem transparent, and her silhouette appeared particularly straight.
...
Julian Ford woke up that evening.
Upon receiving the news from the inpatient department, Josiah Sutton felt inexplicably complex, as if a stone was just lifted from his heart, only for a heavier weight to press down right afterward.
On the way to the inpatient department, Josiah Sutton called Ryan.
The latter was, of course, already locked in his room at the Ford Mansion, with specialized bodyguards keeping watch, hardly different from the Monkey King trapped at Five Finger Mountain, utterly unable to escape.
"I really commend you, you rushed out with such momentum this morning, I genuinely thought you’d accomplish something major."
But who would’ve guessed that he’d end up being unable to take a step.
Josiah Sutton found it both infuriating and amusing.
Ryan: "The old man just left, probably going to the hospital to see my brother. You’ll have to keep an eye on him; that old fart might say something shameless to agitate my brother again!"
"What exactly did Mr. Ford say to Scarlett?"
Josiah Sutton asked the key question.
"What words could make Scarlett leave so resolutely?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Ryan choked up, thinking that Scarlett was gone and hiding things was meaningless; in brief, he recounted how he had bankrupted Benjamin Shaw’s company many years ago.
Josiah Sutton paused mid-step, "What about Julian Ford? Did he intervene?"
"No," Ryan’s voice sounded a bit defeated, "but my brother knew the whole time."
Josiah Sutton: "..."
With Julian Ford’s indifferent nature, in a situation having nothing to do with Scarlett, to watch coldly from the sidelines indeed aligns with what he might do.
But nonetheless, Josiah Sutton felt a surge of anger and speechlessness, cursing, "If I weren’t hurrying to see Julian now, I’d really like to give you a beating; what the hell have you been doing? Is this how you exact revenge?"
Ryan was annoyed, also regretting, but --
"If I knew this would happen today, I wouldn’t have chosen to retaliate against Serena Ford’s family long ago. I would’ve only targeted Serena Ford!"
Well, it turns out this guy only regretted half of it; the other half persistently wants to ruin Scarlett’s mother.
"Regardless if today would come, what you did back then was wrong. Just because Scarlett’s mother had your mother’s Jade Pendant on her, you’d think she harmed your mother? Aren’t you like ’Li Kui handling a case,’ recklessly hitting around?"
Josiah Sutton found it extremely infuriating.
"You never considered that they might be good friends, possibly that Serena Ford was trusted by your mother, which led her to give the Jade Pendant?"
"Impossible! My mom told me that the Jade Pendant was more important to her than life itself! She didn’t even let me touch it, so why give it to Serena Ford?"
Ryan denied firmly.
"Moreover, I had caught Serena Ford at our house once when I was a kid. At that time, my mom was particularly unwelcoming; for my mom, usually gentle, to show such angry and upset expressions, what kind of good person could she be?"
"She came only that once, which left mom feeling despondent for many days, even if she wasn’t involved in my mother’s death, she deserves it!"
"And given her ability to hide for so many years, forcing me repeatedly to lose track when searching for her, it shows this woman definitely has issues!"
Josiah Sutton found it impossible to converse with Ryan, this stubborn mule, any longer; he hung up the phone and went straight toward the inpatient building.
Unexpectedly, he saw Jasper Spencer and Yana Yarrow at the door to Julian Ford’s ward.
