Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 202: How Can Giving a Ring Be So Careless?
She was willing to stay by his side all the time, which naturally made Julian Ford happy.
But, she was being unusually clingy.
He couldn’t quite place what was odd about it; Julian didn’t have time to think deeply as his face was cupped by Scarlett Shaw, and she kissed him voluntarily.
When she let him go, it seemed to have grown quiet outside the window. Scarlett dashed to the window to take a look.
"The rain has stopped!"
Her apricot eyes gleamed with an excited smile.
"Let’s go out for a walk!"
Even though Julian had been admitted to the hospital, apart from necessary examinations, there was no need for him to be confined in the ward.
He nodded.
They didn’t drive; instead, they walked hand in hand, simply and leisurely, down the summer rain-washed streets.
The night was thick, the ground moist, and the humid warm air was still filled with the refreshing scent left by the heavy rain.
"Have you ever thought about investing on your own?"
Julian suddenly asked.
"Instead of working for a company, why not make money for yourself? I’ll provide the capital, and you can explore directions on your own. What do you think?"
The feeling of being with her was getting better and better, and even the brief absence due to objective factors was becoming increasingly hard for him to bear.
The anticipation and planning for the future naturally came onto the agenda.
Letting her be the boss, so they both have flexible time and her career is not hindered, was the best plan.
"Sure."
Without thinking, Scarlett agreed, snuggling against his arm, "Once you have your surgery and get better, I’ll get started! Right now, all I can think about is your health; I can’t do anything else, I don’t even have the heart to go to work!"
The warm steam rising from the ground enveloped her passionate and frank love, melting his heart as well.
He gazed into her eyes, "Okay."
The future seemed full of infinite beautiful possibilities because every mention of the future in their conversations included each other.
When they passed by a mall, Scarlett suddenly stopped and glanced inside.
Julian asked, "Do you want to buy something?"
Scarlett didn’t answer directly, instead pulling him inside and stopping in front of a jewelry counter. Her gaze finally settled on the glass showcase displaying rings.
After studying the row of rings seriously for a while, Scarlett finally pointed to a simple and understated pair of rings, "Try this pair."
The sales associate took out the rings and smiled, saying, "You have a keen eye, ma’am. This pair of rings is from our new collection this year, representing a love that never leaves, and the inside can be engraved with each other’s names."
"How long does the engraving take?"
Scarlett was a bit surprised, taking the men’s ring and pulling Julian’s hand over, earnestly and sincerely putting the ring on him.
The sales associate responded with a smile, "Very quick, three days."
Immersed in the act of putting a ring on Julian, Scarlett didn’t reply immediately. It wasn’t until she securely put the ring on her boyfriend that she looked satisfied.
Julian’s fingers were long and clean, with distinct joints, and his skin was very fair. The simpler the style, the more elegant and noble it appeared.
She then took the women’s ring and placed it in Julian’s palm, offering her hand.
But Julian unexpectedly didn’t move.
His dark eyes grew increasingly profound, fixedly watching her with a scrutinizing gaze.
Scarlett was displeased, whispering in his ear, "So many people are watching, you can’t embarrass me."
Of course, Julian didn’t intend to ruin her mood.
He just felt she seemed too hurried.
The pair of rings between lovers often symbolized a commitment to a forever future. He was determined, and he didn’t doubt her, but this should be something proposed by him.
Choosing rings should not be done so hastily or spontaneously.
Yet, the ring on his finger sparkled like a star, simple and pure yet dazzling and captivating, gripping his heart just like her.
Julian put the ring on Scarlett’s finger, held her hand, and lowered his head to kiss the back of it.
They looked perfect standing together, and even being intimately close didn’t make anyone feel awkward.
Even the sales clerks in the neighboring stores were attracted, looking at them with envy and a hopeful desire for love to find its way.
"Let’s take this pair!"
Scarlett was very satisfied with the effect.
Julian didn’t disagree, heading to pay, only to be stopped by her.
"I’m buying this." Scarlett declared domineeringly, "You’re the big boss, giving a ring shouldn’t be so casual; I won’t let you get off so easily."
Julian replied placidly, "I pay, it counts as you buying it."
He went ahead and made the payment.
The sales associate asked once again if they needed engraving.
Scarlett waved her hand, "No need."
She truly liked the ring, and even after they returned to the hospital, she warned and threatened Julian repeatedly: "Since you’re wearing it, you’re not allowed to take it off, or I’ll be angry and ignore you forever!"
"I won’t take it off."
Julian kissed her forehead, looked into her eyes, and said:
"Now that you’re wearing it, doesn’t it also mean you’re considering marrying me?"
She had taken the opportunity of choosing the rings from him, and if he didn’t mention marriage, wouldn’t it be a waste to be with her?
Her clear bright eyes instantly gathered a mist of water.
Tears burst uncontrollably, and she plunged into his arms.
"Okay."
She nodded repeatedly with a crying voice.
"As soon as your surgery is over, we’ll go right away!"
Tears soaked the fabric on his shoulder, as if seeping through the skin and into the heart, seeing her cry, even if for a good reason, he couldn’t help but feel his heart tighten.
"Didn’t you refuse to even live together before?" He gently patted her back and said, "Now you’re willing to marry me so soon; it’s not because of my illness that I get sympathy points, right?"
"Of course not."
Scarlett sniffed, lifting her head from his shoulder, her eyes still full of tears looking at him.
As always, he gently wiped her tears, "Then why?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Because I love you."
The tissue that touched her flushed eyes suddenly paused, the warmth dampening his fingers, as if pouring onto Julian’s heart.
It was because of her burning fervor, solely because of her.
"Julian Ford."
Her vision blurred by tears, she could still vividly imagine his features and eyebrows in the midst of a mist, biting his lip.
"I love you so much."
Scarlett had told Julian innumerable times that she liked him, but this was the first time she told him she loved him.
Even the cold, harsh-tongued, initially uncaring Julian Ford, she loved dearly because he was a part of him. As long as it was him, she would love him wholeheartedly.
Her tear-stained cheeks were gently and reverently cradled by a large hand, the metal texture of the ring pressing closely against her skin.
The kisses were tender and lingering.
Outside the window, the night was serene; the rain, like a beast, seemed to have temporarily retreated, leaving only the occasional drip from the eaves. The wetness between their lips was no longer the moistness from the rain but Scarlett’s tears falling, making Julian’s heart ache.
"I love you too."
The man’s cool voice carried profound tenderness, and he softly called her:
"Scarlett."
