Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 169: Because I Like You So Much
Last time at Scarlett Shaw’s house, although the two didn’t exactly part on bad terms, they haven’t been in touch much these past few days.
Scarlett Shaw knew she was at fault this time.
She was planning to find him anyway, but half an hour ago, Ryan Ford happened to call.
"Scarlett, there was an unpleasant argument at home just now because of you and my brother."
When Ryan Ford left the Ford family with Julian, he felt that the latter was too calm, unusually so. Who wouldn’t break down after hearing such things from their parents repeatedly?
His brother’s kindness to him showed that his heart was warm; the cold and indifferent facade was just a habit of endurance.
At this point, aside from telling Scarlett, Ryan couldn’t think of anything else to do.
"My brother faced a lot of accusations at home, and given his personality, he wouldn’t tell you a single word about it."
Ryan took a drag on his cigarette, sighing deeply.
"My brother has never had the inclination to share his joys and sorrows with those close to him; he processes all his emotions himself. Others see this as strength, but I’m really afraid it will make him sick eventually."
Ryan mentioned this casually, and Scarlett’s heart skipped a beat, feeling too upset to speak.
After hanging up the phone, she headed straight to the Cloud Mansion.
When Julian Ford stepped out of the elevator, his suit was immaculate, his expression indifferent, as calm as ever.
The calmer he was, the tighter Scarlett’s heart felt.
Even when she hugged him tightly, she couldn’t find peace.
Julian Ford wrapped an arm around her waist briefly, released her quickly, and looked down at her, asking, "What brings you here all of a sudden?"
Scarlett was slightly dazed, holding onto his hand, "I wanted to see you, so I came over."
Julian nodded, led her inside, chatted for a while, and asked, "Are you staying here tonight, or should I drive you home?"
If he had only briefly responded to her hug at the door, Scarlett might have thought it was her misunderstanding.
But now, she was almost certain he was pushing her away.
The Julian standing before her showed no trace of coldness, yet Scarlett felt that the distance between them was further than ever before.
"If there are things you don’t want me to know, I won’t ask."
She softened her attitude, opened her arms to hug him once more.
It was like using all her strength.
"But at least, let me stay by your side."
Julian was silent for a moment, not only ignoring her words but calmly stating, "Did Ryan say something to you?"
Scarlett froze all over.
Julian patted her on top of her head, his palm cold, and said in a light tone, "Don’t worry about me. It’s not the first time I’ve argued with them; it’s not as serious as you think."
Her slender arms clinging to his waist didn’t let go, but tightened their grip.
"I’m sorry."
Her voice was muffled, carrying a restrained grievance. Julian scooped her up with one arm, laid her on the bed, and as he pressed his lips to hers, he softly said:
"Didn’t I tell you before? The core conflict between my parents and me isn’t about you, so you don’t need to feel sorry for me."
Scarlett clung to his neck, her tearful eyes gazing into his, saying:
"I feel sorry because, even knowing our relationship has brought you a lot of pressure from your family, I still don’t want to part from you. I can’t help but think that if you left me because of it, I would definitely hate you."
A flicker of surprise passed through the clarity of the man’s eyes. Leaning down, he kissed the corner of her lips, and as they landed on the soft flesh, he said:
"I’ll return those words to you as well. If you leave, for any reason, I’ll hate you too."
His palm slid over her thin dress.
Scarlett thought for a moment and pretended to sound relaxed: "Doesn’t that mean I lose out? I only set one condition, while you include them all."
Julian continued without pause, burying his head against her neck, humid and lingering, "If the result is leaving, the reason doesn’t matter to me."
"What if there’s no choice?"
Scarlett arched her body, her voice trembling slightly.
Julian raised his head, looking at her dangerously, "What unavoidable reason would you have?"
Scarlett: "..."
Alright, at least right now, she really couldn’t think of a reason she had to leave him.
Julian’s kisses trailed down Scarlett’s slender white spine, finally gripping her ankle, pulling her to the edge of the bed beneath him, and reaching for a condom from the bedside table.
"Slow down!"
Scarlett kicked her lower leg back, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Julian clutched the base of her thigh, flipped her to face him, pinning her against his legs.
"Who said just now they wanted it fast?"
He stared into her eyes, speaking calmly yet maliciously.
His charming lips brushed closer, kissing away the tears that spilled from her eyes.
It went on until midnight.
Scarlett’s body was exhausted, but her sleep was restless, and she woke early the next day to see Julian dressed casually, looking ready to leave.
On instinct, Scarlett called out, "Where are you going?"
Julian hadn’t expected her to wake so early. He turned back to her, speaking softly, "You’ve only slept four hours."
Scarlett: "And neither have you."
As she spoke, she wrapped herself in the quilt, wanting to retrieve the clothes discarded on the carpet the night before.
Julian emerged from the wardrobe with a new set of clothes and personally helped her get dressed. Scarlett paused, suddenly remembering something, and asked:
"Your past relationships were arranged by your family, but how do I remember there being women’s clothing at your place a long time ago?"
Julian zipped up her dress, raising an eyebrow, "Digging up old scores, are we?"
Scarlett snorted softly, acknowledging it.
"It was to deal with the family."
Julian patiently explained.
"Although my mother no longer comes to Cloud Mansion, when Zoe Sutton and I started dating openly, she visited a few times."
Hearing Julian mention dating Zoe Sutton, although she knew it was fake, Scarlett still felt uncomfortable; she wasn’t like this before.
Julian glanced up and saw the displeasure in his girlfriend’s eyes.
"The clothes you’re wearing now aren’t from that batch, are they?"
If Julian said they were, no matter how bad his mood, she might just tear into him.
"Just check how well they fit."
Julian led her to the mirror.
"The clothes were bought by Aaron Carson according to your measurements, on the day you agreed to be my girlfriend. The old ones were thrown out."
Looking at themselves in the mirror, Scarlett was touched. She turned slightly, kissing Julian’s Adam’s apple.
After everything, the atmosphere between them was much softer than the night before, sparking Scarlett’s mischievous side again, as she clung to Julian’s arm and demanded: 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Are you planning to sneak out and cry alone?"
Julian chuckled, his handsome face breaking into a grin, "Do you think I’m like you, crying over nothing?"
"It’s because I like you too much."
Scarlett muttered softly.
She was never this fragile before.
Who could blame him for being her weakness now?
Scarlett hung her head, her ears turning red with the confession, while Julian lowered his head to nibble on her earlobe, then moved to her lips, the kiss tinged with the dampness of rain from outside.
