Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 139: Battle of Heavenly King Mountain
Ryan Ford had never seen Scarlett Shaw like this before.
He never realized that her affection could be so intense and scorching, so bold and daring, every fiber of his heart twisted up, his whole body wracked with unendurable pain.
It had been almost a year since breaking up with Scarlett Shaw.
For the first time, Ryan felt a despair down to his bones—it told him he had already, completely and irreversibly, lost Scarlett.
And the man who took Scarlett away, hadn’t even been with her a year, yet had made her love so deeply, so fiercely, had made her cry so bitterly—that man was Julian Ford.
His older brother.
As the agony of loss came rushing in, so did a feeling of betrayal so deep he couldn’t put it into words.
The moment Julian pulled Scarlett into his arms right before his eyes, a lot of strange, inexplicable memories suddenly lined up in his mind, forming a clear, undeniable thread.
Ryan suddenly understood everything.
Aaron Carson had nothing to do with any of this.
From beginning to end, it was always his brother.
It was Julian Ford, who, on the very night Ryan and Scarlett broke up, in this black Bentley right here, right under Ryan’s nose, held her tight and left those ambiguous, carnal marks on her skin.
All that crap about women on the side, just playing around—total bullshit.
Ryan knew Scarlett, and he knew Julian.
His brother would never waste his time on someone he was just casually seeing. For Julian to keep her close, to make her his girlfriend, then Scarlett must mean...
She must matter a hell of a lot to him.
Realizing this, Ryan’s already tormented heart twisted in agony even more.
With a dark, sullen face, fists clenched tight, he stood in front of Scarlett and Julian, and his eyes were even redder than Scarlett’s after she’d been crying.
Ryan didn’t hold back at all with his punch; Julian’s cold, sharp face now had blood on his mouth, and Scarlett glanced up, a flicker in her eyes.
Ryan caught that look and couldn’t help but growl, "He made you cry like this and you still care about him?!"
Scarlett hadn’t expected Ryan to catch her and Julian together in a moment like this.
She frowned, instinctively snapped back, "I’d feel sorry for a pig too, and it’s none of your business."
The one being called a pig spoke up, cold and low, right above Scarlett’s head: "Step back."
Scarlett froze for a moment.
Julian had already taken off his suit jacket, his long fingers undoing his shirt cuffs and rolling up his sleeves to his elbows. When Ryan’s second punch came, Julian dodged quickly and countered with one of his own.
Both men were skilled fighters; for a moment, neither had the upper hand.
Who would’ve thought, in the underground parking lot of Capitoline’s most valuable investment firm, the mighty President Ford and the Fords’ Second Son would be going at each other, sparks flying, neither backing down.
This kind of scene—you wouldn’t even dream it up.
But as fate would have it, Skyler Miller and Lily had just come out of the elevator, ready to head home, and after witnessing the huge PDA moment between Scarlett and Julian, they were now witnessing the "Battle of the Gods vs. the Buddha"—a scene for the ages.
Lily stared blankly, "Wh-what is this? The Heavenly King Mountain battle?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Skyler was still stunned: "Definitely got that vibe."
Lily: "If I’m not mistaken, those two who are tussling... they’re President Ford and the Fords’ Second Son, right?"
Watching your boss fight someone was shocking enough.
But now the guy fighting the boss was his own younger brother.
Besides, the boss was the elite son of the wealthy Ford family—is that crazy, ruthless Julian Ford, face bruised, oozing hostility, really the elegant, gentlemanly President Ford they knew?
Lily’s mind was blown. "Skyler, is our luck off the charts or what? We just watched a romance flick, now it’s an action movie, and it’s the same cast! Even short dramas don’t ramp up the pace this fast!"
Skyler sneaked a glance at the other "actor," Scarlett, and said quietly, "Maybe... this is still the romance flick."
Lily: "..."
Skyler and Lily wanted to find a discreet spot to munch popcorn and spectate, but Scarlett spotted them, turned on her heel, and quickly walked over.
"Skyler, Lily, you two getting off work?"
"Y-yeah, we are."
"Mind giving me a ride?"
There were still traces of redness under Scarlett’s eyes from crying, but her expression was calm, as if she had nothing to do with those two men at all.
Skyler: "No problem."
Scarlett: "Shall we go now?"
Though they wanted to keep watching the "movie," Skyler knew Ryan was Scarlett’s ex, and today’s mess made everything clear. Thinking about Scarlett’s situation, she drove Scarlett and Lily away from there quickly.
As for brawling with Ryan, Julian didn’t hold back, but most of his attention was locked on Scarlett.
Seeing her leave, he threw Ryan against the car door, took out his phone, and dialed Scarlet’s number.
It surprised him to find out Scarlett had added his number to the blacklist.
Seeing Julian’s ugly look, Ryan didn’t throw another punch. He just leaned lazily against the car door, let out a cold laugh and said, "Bro, looks like you and I are in the same boat now."
Julian: "Since you’ve seen me with her today, don’t bother her again."
"But I just heard you two are breaking up." Ryan’s face was bruised up, but his eyes hooked into a smile, "Scarlett doesn’t go back to exes, I’m living proof."
Julian ignored him, walked around to the driver’s seat, and got in the car.
Ryan shamelessly climbed into the passenger seat.
When he saw all those girlish touches inside the car, Ryan’s smile vanished.
For anyone, the car is a pretty private space—especially for someone like Julian Ford, who has intense boundaries and personal space, and keeps everyone at arm’s length.
Ryan’s face darkened. He said, "Bro, you should break up with Scarlett—you can’t give her a lifetime of happiness."
Julian: "My relationship with her is none of your business. Do you seriously think you’ve got any shot at getting back together?"
"It’s because I know it’s impossible, that I really don’t want to watch her jump into another pit."
Ryan dropped his usual devil-may-care attitude, got serious and grave.
"Are you actually going to marry Scarlett?"
Julian’s profile was shadowed and deep, his hand resting on the wheel, gaze fixed ahead.
After a long pause, he replied coolly, "It’s not impossible."
Ryan froze, disbelief flickering in his eyes, then his brow furrowed even harder. "So you mean you’d have Scarlett suffer with you in the Ford family’s hellhole? After what your mom and Ezra Ford have done to you, you want her to suffer all that too?"
To outsiders, the Ford family was everything—wealth, privilege—and Julian Ford, born with a silver spoon, was the golden child, born at the top of the pyramid.
But in Ryan’s eyes, his brother’s life was far more repressed and pitiful than his own, even as a bastard child.
Ryan had a rough childhood, but he had his mother, Nina Shawcross, who loved him—he knew what real love was.
But Julian?
Sure, everything his brother showed the world was flawless to the point of perfection.
But in the Ford family, with Freya Pierce and Ezra Ford, Ryan never saw any genuine love from them toward their own child.
A mother who could hurt her own child physically, a father with a pile of mistresses and no feelings at all—can you even call that a family?
"She just cried her heart out—doesn’t that prove you can’t give her real happiness?"
"I may be dead to Scarlett, but at least I never made her cry like that."
"But, bro, if it’s you, things like this are never just a one-time thing."
