Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 414 - 393: The Finale
On Saturday noon, Sienna Thornton received coordinates sent by Quentin Thorne.
The Thorne family would be having dinner at a hotel in Brimfield that evening.
At that time, she had just returned from Melinda Linton’s place, showered, and was ready to take a nap with Simon Forrester.
The April weather in Brimfield was pleasant, neither needing heating nor cooling. Sienna Thornton wore a thin cotton nightdress, nestled in Simon Forrester’s arms.
The two were casually chatting.
"The Thorne family is having dinner at a Brimfield hotel tonight. I’ll head out around five-thirty."
Simon Forrester was playing with her slender, fair fingers and teased, "The food at Brimfield Hotel is terrible. Why didn’t you suggest to Old Thornton to go to ’The Imperial Court Club’?"
Simon Forrester said this because he wanted her to have a good impression in front of the Thorne family. After all, those smart folks at "The Imperial Court Club" treated her like a big boss.
Sienna Thornton pondered and replied, "This is a family affair. How could someone like me, who’s only meeting my relatives tomorrow, give suggestions?"
The Forrester Family had always been small in number. Since Simon Forrester could remember, all matters large and small were decided if he chose to give advice. So hearing that in a big family like the Thorne’s, Sienna Thornton had no say at all, he was a bit irritated, worried she might get bullied in the evening, and clung to her asking, "Take me with you tonight?"
Sienna Thornton asked, "Aren’t you supposed to return to the old house for dinner tonight to discuss tomorrow’s tomb-sweeping matters?"
"My parents will be there. I can go or not go."
Sienna Thornton considered for a moment and said, "Next time, next time I’ll definitely take you, okay?" After saying that, worried Simon Forrester might get upset, she proactively kissed him.
Seeing she was unwilling, Simon Forrester shifted his approach, "Then how about this, I’ll take grandpa and the others to dinner at Brimfield Hotel tonight as well. If anything happens on the Thorne side, you can call me right away, and I’ll be there immediately, how’s that?"
Without waiting for Sienna Thornton’s agreement, he added, "Let’s do it!" And with that, he promptly picked up the phone to call the old house.
Hearing that his grandson wanted to host a dinner outside that night, Old Master Forrester agreed joyfully.
Sienna Thornton, amused yet helpless, watched Simon Forrester’s swift actions, and it was too late to refuse.
.
When Simon Forrester got up after four o’clock, Sienna Thornton was no longer in his arms. He got out of bed, went to look outside but didn’t see her, so he went to the dressing room to find her.
Sienna Thornton, wearing a cotton nightdress with her long legs bare, was standing in front of the wardrobe selecting clothes, with several dresses tossed on the soft stool behind her.
He leaned against the door, smiling, and asked, "What are you going to wear tonight?"
Sienna Thornton glanced at him, "You’re just in time, come help me pick out clothes."
For family weekend gatherings, they tended to dress relatively casually and simply. She didn’t want to dress too grandly and end up looking out of place if everyone else was dressed casually. But given it was her first appearance in front of the Thorne family, she also wanted to make a striking impression.
Because of this, she had been standing in front of the wardrobe, undecisive, for half an hour.
Having been with her for two years, Simon Forrester naturally understood her thoughts.
He walked in, wrapped one arm around her waist, kissed her hair, and selected some clothes from the wardrobe. He quickly picked out a pair of blue, cropped jeans, a white thin knit shirt with subtle rhinestone embellishments on the collar and sleeves, and a fitted khaki trench coat.
Pointing at the knit shirt with the slanted V-neck design, he asked, "This top is from Italora, right? How much was it again?"
"I think it was a few thousand?" Sienna Thornton grabbed the jeans and started pulling them up her bare legs, "I bought some other stuff at the time, so I didn’t really check the price closely."
She put on the jeans, took off the nightdress, put on her underwear, and then wore the knit shirt over it.
Looking at herself in the mirror for a moment, she smiled and said, "Seems pretty good."
Her skin was fair, her figure slender and tall, wearing cropped jeans showing her slim ankles, paired with flat shoes, it actually looked very chic and youthful.
The knit shirt with understated white rhinestones might seem ordinary at first glance, but upon closer inspection, the slanted V-neck design accentuates one side of her sensual collarbone. Also, under the lighting in the hotel room, anyone with a discerning eye could tell it was expensive.
This was the effect she wanted. To appear understated, casual, youthful, but for those who knew, they could see these pieces weren’t cheap.
Simon Forrester gave an approving nod and headed to the watch drawer to select a watch for her.
To match the outfit’s style, Sienna Thornton gathered her hair up and tied it into a high ponytail.
She applied a light base, drew a subtle eyeliner, paired it with earth-toned eyeshadow and a nude pink lipstick. Her features were prominently defined and her face was exquisite, so she didn’t use any contouring. The entire makeup looked fresh and natural, as if she hadn’t put on any makeup at all.
Walking out of the room, Simon Forrester, who was drinking milk at the bar, looked at her for a moment and asked, "You’re about to go out, haven’t you put on makeup?"
She was looking for shoes in the shoe cabinet and turned to smile at him, "I did put on makeup! It’s just a nude makeup look, you couldn’t tell."
Simon Forrester came over, examined her carefully and said, "It really is. I can’t pinpoint what, but you do look more lively and prettier."
Sienna Thornton laughed, "That’s nude makeup for you! It’s normal for guys not to notice."
Most of the shoes in the cabinet were heels for commutes or sneakers and canvas shoes for weekends. She looked for a while before finding a pair of handmade suede flats with rhinestones from Italora she got last year.
After putting on the shoes, she yelled inside, "Are you ready?"
"Just rinsing my mouth, almost done."
While waiting for Simon Forrester, she found their car keys from the key bowl on the entryway cabinet.
Soon, Simon Forrester came out fully dressed, and the two left, taking the elevator to the garage, getting into their respective cars.
.
Leaving at five thirty, the road had started to get a bit congested. Sienna Thornton looked at the traffic on the GPS, estimating they would reach Brimfield Hotel by six ten.
Quentin Thorne had instructed her to be there at six. She could have left earlier, but she purposely chose to be ten minutes late, just to make a grand entrance.
She could already imagine that Quentin Thorne would be waiting for her in the hotel lobby, and then they would go up together. With everyone already present, Quentin Thorne would naturally introduce her table by table.
Arriving a bit late would ensure she receives the full attention of the Thorne family.
Sure enough, by six, she was still on the road when Quentin Thorne called, asking if she was caught in traffic, advising her to drive slowly and that he was waiting for her in the lobby.
At six ten, Sienna Thornton parked the car and took the elevator from the hotel’s basement to the lobby, where Quentin Thorne was sitting on a sofa flipping through a magazine.
She walked over and greeted, "Dad, I’m sorry, there was traffic on the way, sorry to keep you waiting."
Hearing this, Quentin Thorne put down the magazine, stood up, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and laughed, "I knew it must be the traffic. It’s fine. Let’s head up; the relatives are all waiting."
