Chapter 313: Chapter 301: Simon Forrester’s Family

The nurse shouted at the door—"Simon Forrester! Is Simon Forrester’s family here?!"

Sienna Thornton was startled, lifted her head, and ran towards the surgery room door, ignoring the tissue Harrison Rowe offered.

Harrison Rowe and Jack Hawthorne, who were standing by, followed her. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

The nurse was short and wore flat nurse shoes. She looked up at the three tall men and women gathered around her and loudly asked, "Who is the family member?"

"I..." Sienna’s voice trembled, her tone clearly crying, "I am the patient’s family! How is he?"

"The patient has a fracture in the eighth thoracic vertebra, with displacement. It’s been fixed with internal stabilization through surgery. Post-surgery, make sure to rest in bed and pay attention to..."

There were many people outside the surgery room, and from time to time, other patients undergoing surgery were brought out.

The nurse spoke rapidly and hadn’t finished her words when someone behind her pushed out a gurney. She then instructed, "Send the patient to the ward first, the attending doctor will come by later," and stepped aside.

Two young male doctors in green surgical gowns pushed out the person lying on the gurney, calling out, "Simon Forrester’s family!"

Sienna quickly approached, leaning over to look at Simon, who lay unconscious with a scratch on one cheekbone.

"It will be okay, it will be okay..." Her eyes were red, her hands tightly gripping the edge of the gurney as she walked along, muttering to herself.

At this moment, she felt chaotic but forced herself to stay calm. While waiting by the elevator, noticing Simon’s eyes were still tightly shut, she urgently asked, "Doctor, why isn’t the patient awake yet?"

One of the male doctors replied, "Give it another half hour to an hour, the anesthesia will wear off and he will wake up."

Harrison and Jack also followed, together squeezing into the fairly large elevator.

Sienna kept bending over, watching the still sleeping Simon, occasionally tucking him in or tightly holding his cold hand.

Harrison chatted with the two attending assistants, "The patient should be okay now, right?"

After asking, he realized his question was vague, cautiously glanced at Sienna, and rephrased, "Will it... affect his future life?"

The doctor said, "The attending will explain the patient’s detailed condition to the family later."

These words made Sienna hold her breath, anxious.

Harrison and Jack were also very worried, their expressions grim.

The elevator descended into a deathly silence, with no one saying a word, each tasting their anxiety alone.

.

The two male doctors carefully moved Simon onto the hospital bed while the nurse came to administer anti-inflammatory medication and explained some precautions to Sienna.

Harrison and Jack stayed in the ward for a while, noticed the attending hadn’t arrived, and said they’d go buy some daily essentials for Simon, then temporarily left.

Sienna sat by the bed, holding Simon’s hand, unable to control her chaotic thoughts because she didn’t know his current condition, tears falling uncontrollably.

"It’ll be okay, you’ll be okay," she spoke as if to Simon, but really to herself, "Even if you’re paralyzed, I won’t leave you..."

As she spoke, overwhelmed by her immense grief, she collapsed onto the bed, crying silently.

After crying for a while, someone knocked on the door. She hastily wiped the tears from her face, her eyes red, and went to open the door.

Harrison, Jack, and a doctor in a white coat stood outside. She quickly stepped aside, inviting them in.

The four of them stood by the bed, Harrison asked, "Doctor, is the patient alright?"

The doctor approached to check the IV bottle, smiling, "Fortunately, there’s no spinal cord or nerve compression, nothing major. After surgery, ensure the injured area is stabilized, rest on a hard board bed, and come back next year to remove the internal fixation."

At these words, everyone breathed a big sigh of relief.

Sienna finally let go of half of her worries.

She wiped her eyes again and asked, "In his current state, how long does the patient need to stay in bed?"

Her voice was dried out and rough from crying, grief, and not speaking or drinking water all afternoon.

The doctor replied, "Basically, one month, but during surgery, I noticed the patient’s body and bone condition were quite good. In 2-3 weeks, he can try getting out of bed wearing a plaster vest, ensuring the thoracic area remains stable."

Sienna felt more ecstatic and excited at this moment than when she heard she was admitted to Harvard Law School.

She looked at the doctor gratefully and solemnly said, "Thank you, thank you for your hard work."

The doctor smiled, gave a few more instructions, and then left.

The tension on Harrison and Jack’s faces finally eased somewhat. Jack even had the mood to joke with Sienna, "Sister-in-law, this month will be hard on you! Take care!"

At this time, Sienna was filled with joy and gratitude. Despite knowing Jack’s underlying meaning, she didn’t mind and just walked to the bed, holding Simon’s hand, tenderly saying, "The doctor said you’re fine, that’s wonderful..."

.

Sienna stayed in the ward that night to care for Simon.

Harrison and Jack found a hotel nearby for the night, in case Sienna needed their help.

Before leaving, Jack suggested hiring a nurse, but Sienna refused, saying she could manage.

After they left, Sienna went to the bathroom, fetched a basin of hot water, and helped Simon wash his face and body, also changing him into clean underwear and pajamas from home.

Since the doctor had said the thoracic area couldn’t be moved, she only washed his chest and arms, leaving his back untouched.

After doing all this, she took a quick shower in the bathroom herself, and when she came out in clean pajamas, Simon was awake.

He lay in bed, pale lips forming a slight smile, his slightly reddened eyes looking at her intently.

She was delighted, forgetting to put down the dirty clothes in her hands, and ran to him, throwing herself onto him, holding him and crying loudly.

"You scared me! You scared me! Boo hoo..." She nestled in his neck, wailing, tears soaking his freshly cleaned neck.

He smiled weakly, struggling to lift his hand to hug her slim body, his large hand lightly stroking her casually tied hair, "I’m sorry for worrying you."

She continued crying, her emotions chaotic, grateful yet still worried, "I was so scared something would happen to you... please, don’t go to the construction site anymore, okay?..."

He smiled with relief, "Alright, I won’t go to the construction site anymore. I’ll change careers in light of this incident."

"Okay." She cried, sobbing heavily, lying on his chest for a long time. Once her mood gradually stabilized, she wiped her eyes, half-crying, half-smiling, and sat up.

Simon reached up to gently caress her face, the pad of his thumb rubbing around her swollen eyes, his gaze deep, his voice indulgent, "Cried for a long time? Your eyes are all swollen."

She embarrassedly turned her face slightly, using the back of her hand to wipe her still-reddened eyelids, "No... it was just when I was showering, water got in my eyes accidentally..."

He knowingly smiled, not quite sincerely, suddenly pulling her back towards him.

He looked at her intently, his finger tapping his own lips.

Her face was already flushed, she lowered her head and lightly pecked him.
