Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 296 - 292: Supporting Each Other
Simon Forrester probed, "But what?"
"But how are you going to prevent this from happening again in the future?" Sienna Thornton’s voice was stern. "What if it happens again? If your mom uses similar tactics to push you together with Nina Sinclair, can you avoid it once or twice, or a hundred times?"
In her view, encountering a problem is not the issue; the most important thing is how to face it and avoid it in the future.
"Isn’t it simple?" Simon Forrester grinned, grabbed her hand on the table, and intertwined his fingers with hers. "We get married quickly, and my mom won’t be able to meddle anymore."
"I’m serious!" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"I’m serious too!"
Sienna Thornton was speechless.
Seeing there was no good way to solve the issue, and with Simon Forrester proposing at such a frustrating moment, Sienna Thornton felt both angry and helpless, and she didn’t want to talk to him any longer. She got up and went back to her room.
.
Simon Forrester tidied up the dishes and returned to their room to find the lights off. Sienna Thornton was already lying down. He went to the bathroom, washed up, then lay down next to her, wrapping her in his arms.
In the darkness, neither spoke.
Seeing that she didn’t resist his embrace, he relaxed a bit and said earnestly, "I admit I haven’t made any efforts to get my mom to accept you because I always felt my marriage was for me to decide. I didn’t think I needed her approval, so I never took the issue seriously. This is my fault, and I’ll find a chance to have a proper talk with my mom."
With her eyes closed, Sienna Thornton said calmly, "You’re wrong. The union of two people involves two families, not just the couple. If you were alone, that would be different, but you’re not. Behind you is the entire Forrester Family and the Forrester Group. Your indifference to your mother can make her think you won’t really stand up to her arrangements for your marriage."
Simon Forrester hadn’t realized Sienna Thornton’s views were quite traditional.
This kind of tradition was something he actually liked.
He hugged her tighter, kissed her earlobe, and said softly, "It’s my fault. I simplified the situation too much before. I’ll communicate well with my parents."
Actually, just telling Zane Forrester and Sylvia Langley that Sienna Thornton was Quentin Thorne’s eldest daughter would solve all the problems easily.
Quentin Thorne was someone even Old Master Forrester didn’t want to offend, let alone Sylvia Langley and Zane Forrester.
But knowing Sienna Thornton wouldn’t like being accepted in this way, Simon Forrester decided not to let his parents know about her connection to Quentin Thorne.
As he pondered how to get his parents to accept Sienna Thornton willingly, the person in his arms shifted, turned back to hug him, and her voice softened, "I also have my faults for not reminding you sooner and addressing it earlier. Now that we’ve both realized our issues, let’s put this matter behind us."
Her voice was a bit somber. Before Simon Forrester could speak, she continued, "And about your parents’ divorce, don’t worry too much. We’re in this together!"
Simon Forrester gently replied, "Mm. I realized while making a midnight snack that I don’t want to stress about their problems anymore. What matters now is our own little family."
"Same here," Sienna Thornton said. "I thought about it while taking a bath."
"Haha," Simon Forrester laughed, "So you were thinking about it while bathing, just as I was making a snack? What a coincidence, we’re in sync!"
With that, he turned over to lock her in his embrace, feeling grateful, "Thank goodness you didn’t break up with me over this."
Sienna Thornton couldn’t help but laugh, "My love for you isn’t so easily shaken by things like this."
Simon Forrester felt reassured, as her words "my love for you" warmed him entirely, dispelling the dark cloud left by his parents’ issues from his heart.
It was like the clouds had parted to reveal clear skies.
He held her, doing nothing more. The two of them just embraced tightly, warmly, even though they were tired, neither was sleepy. Instead, they felt a thrilled excitement from resolving the small conflict.
Sienna Thornton kept analyzing how to prevent Zane Forrester and Sylvia Langley from finalizing their divorce. Simon Forrester, who deeply wished his parents wouldn’t divorce, nodded frequently, moved, "Do you remember what I said—how two people are supposed to pull each other up? I was about to fall, and you lifted me back up."
After speaking, he feigned a pitiful look and snuggled into Sienna Thornton’s embrace.
Covering her mouth with her hand, Sienna Thornton laughed for a moment, then said, "It’s really just about ’mutual support’! Why say it in such a long-winded way instead of in four words?"
Simon Forrester was speechless.
He realized he’d probably never hear any sweet talk from Sienna Thornton.
.
They had both slept late the previous night, and were awakened by the vibration of Simon Forrester’s phone the next morning.
Sylvia Langley called, saying she and the brothers were taking an afternoon flight back to their hometown and wanted Simon Forrester to arrange a car to take them to the airport.
Simon Forrester had been planning to have a proper talk with Sylvia Langley, so he agreed to her request.
After he left, Sienna Thornton got up too, made herself something to eat, tidied up the house, and then went downstairs to the fresh supermarket to buy groceries, preparing to cook dinner.
Simon Forrester returned after seven o’clock. As Sienna Thornton, who was in the living room reading on her Kindle while waiting for him, quickly poured him a glass of warm water.
Seeing he looked in good spirits, Sienna Thornton set down the glass and sat down next to him, asking, "Did they board the plane?"
Simon Forrester pinched her cheek, soft with collagen, and smiled, "Yes. My mom hasn’t gone back to her hometown in years. She’ll probably stay there for a while."
He took a sip of water and continued, "I’ve talked to her, and she agreed not to interfere in our matters anymore. She’ll explain to the Sinclair Family herself."
"That’s good," Sienna Thornton said, pinching his cheek in return. "How did you convince her?"
"I just told her about the time you were caring for me when I broke my leg and how I fainted from stomach pain at night."
"That’s it?" Sienna Thornton was a bit skeptical, "Your mom doesn’t seem like someone who’d be so easily appeased... didn’t she suspect I was just trying to get close to you by taking care of you?"
Simon Forrester was speechless.
Sylvia Langley indeed had the exact suspicion.
Of course, Simon Forrester couldn’t tell Sienna Thornton that, so he instead said, "I also told her about how I bought a holiday home without you knowing, and when you found out, you immediately canceled the deal, sold your house to repay the loan, and almost broke up with me over it."
Sienna Thornton then understood. That must have been what touched Sylvia Langley—the fear that her son’s money would be drained by another woman.
She smiled wryly, "So you understand why I was so angry about you buying the holiday home behind my back, right? It affects my position in this relationship. Sure, it’s easier for a woman to depend on a man than to strive on her own. But in the long run, a balanced relationship is best when you walk side by side."
Simon Forrester nodded, "When my mom married my dad, she faced fierce opposition because her family’s status wasn’t on par with the Forrester Family. She’s actually the one who can understand you the most, so when I explained today, she understood everything."
"I’m really curious," Sienna Thornton supported her chin with her hand, looking at him sharply, "How did you address your mom’s concerns about me in the eyes of someone in your high-class Old Money circle, seeing me as both poor and ambitious?"
