Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 284 - 281: She Was Always Wonderful
Simon Forrester immediately reacted, exploding: "What era do we live in, Grandpa, and you’re still concerned about this kind of thing? Are you planning on preparing a white handkerchief for our wedding night too?"
In his view of love, many things were far more important than so-called "purity" when considering if someone was suitable to be a lifelong partner.
Before dating Sienna Thornton, he had never been troubled by this issue.
But now, Old Master Forrester openly placed the issue on the table, as if if Sienna had been with another man, he wouldn’t agree to their marriage.
Simon Forrester felt this was unfair to Sienna Thornton.
No one should require their partner to remain chaste for an unknown person before meeting them. It’s inhumane, and unscientific.
He was very angry, and his face didn’t look good.
Old Master Forrester looked at him for a while, then said helplessly: "Fine, fine, as long as you think it’s okay."
At these words, Simon Forrester exploded again.
Though he disdained to emphasize it, he didn’t want Sienna Thornton misunderstood by the Forrester Family: "What do you mean by ’as long as I think it’s okay’? There’s no need for just my opinion, Candy has always been great! Before me, she never even had a boyfriend!"
Simon Forrester spoke these words suppressing his full dissatisfaction.
Although he was a bit excited, Old Master Forrester truly understood his meaning.
The elder finally felt relieved and smiled, saying: "Then I’ve got it clear in my mind. In the future, if anyone comes to me with gossip about Thornton being with other men before, I’ll have the confidence to scold them."
Simon Forrester then remembered what Thomas Reed said in the morning about Sylvia Langley digging around for past rumors about him and Sienna Thornton, and bringing them to Old Master Forrester.
Thinking of how Old Master Forrester ended up in the hospital because of it, Simon Forrester felt embarrassed to be upset with the elder, so he softened his tone, stood up to adjust the elder’s thin blanket, and flashed a smile: "Grandpa, your grandson is no fool; I’ve got a sharp eye. Anyway, no matter what anyone says bad about Candy in front of you, don’t believe it! Just trust in us!"
"Okay!" The elder also had no temper left, waved his hand, and closed his eyes, indicating he wanted to rest.
Simon Forrester returned to the sofa to lie down, checked emails on his phone, and received a WeChat message from Sienna Thornton, saying she was home.
After reminding her to close the doors and windows and rest early, he too closed his eyes to take a short nap. He didn’t dare sleep deeply because an hour later, he had to go out and call the nurse to change the IV bag.
-
The next morning, Sienna Thornton arrived at the hospital at seven-thirty with breakfast.
Though it was porridge once more, it had clams and vegetables added, and was cooked with chicken broth, making it delicious. Old Master Forrester ate with a big smile.
At nine, Thomas Reed came to switch shifts, and Simon Forrester took Sienna Thornton home, promising to make lunch and bring it over later.
The two returned to the apartment, first buying groceries for the whole day from the fresh food supermarket downstairs, then went home to make lunch, which Simon Forrester quickly took to the hospital for Old Master Forrester and Thomas Reed to eat.
Since Thomas was there, he didn’t want Sienna Thornton to go meet him, so he used the excuse that Sienna should stay home to clean the kitchen and prepare the ingredients for dinner.
Sienna Thornton was quite straightforward, and because she was upfront and honest with Thomas, she didn’t think much about it and obediently stayed home to prepare dinner.
Simon Forrester soon came back; the two took a nap, woke up to cook dinner, and again went to the hospital to eat with Old Master Forrester.
Simon Forrester stayed to keep watch overnight while Sienna Thornton returned home, bringing breakfast again the next morning.
They continued like this for four or five days until Old Master Forrester was discharged.
On discharge day, everyone came, including Zane Forrester and his wife, who had not shown up since their visit the day after Old Master Forrester was admitted.
Sylvia Langley appeared quite content, no longer wearing the cold, stern demeanor she had toward Sienna Thornton days ago. Instead, she smiled warmly at her several times.
Sienna Thornton felt uneasy with her cheerful demeanor and asked Simon Forrester in the car after leaving the family estate, "Why do I feel like your mom’s attitude towards me has been strange these past few days?"
Simon Forrester, driving, asked casually, "How so?"
"On the second day after Grandpa was admitted, her attitude towards me was still harsh, wasn’t it? Yet today, she kept smiling at me," Sienna Thornton said with a shiver.
"Maybe she encountered something pleasant; don’t worry about her."
Simon Forrester couldn’t explain it either, so Sienna Thornton let it go.
Returning home, both felt exhausted, drew a warm bath, and went to bed early, preparing to go back to work tomorrow.
Laying in bed, Simon Forrester hugged Sienna Thornton from behind, intertwining their legs and burying his face in her neck, softly saying, "I didn’t do much hard work at the hospital, but coming back every day, I felt so tired."
"The atmosphere’s oppressive," Sienna Thornton replied.
When Melinda Linton was ill, she had spent many days in the hospital caring for her, deeply understanding what Simon Forrester was feeling.
She turned around, wrapped her arms tightly around him. His chest was firm and strong, his embrace warm and indulgent, carrying the scent she was most infatuated with.
Sienna Thornton nestled deeply in Simon Forrester’s arms, inhaling his scent, her senses, her brain, her heart filled with it, as if the whole world had reduced to just him.
Thinking of the days Melinda Linton spent in the hospital, she reflected, "When my mom was sick, I was so scared and helpless. If you hadn’t been there with me, I might have fallen apart."
So, during Old Master Forrester’s illness, she supported him with all her heart, both to repay his companionship during Melinda Linton’s illness and because she understood the desperation and helplessness that comes when a close relative falls ill.
Noticing Simon Forrester’s silence, she shifted and asked again, "Why did you go back home with me then? We didn’t really have anything at that time."
Simon Forrester laughed, his chin on top of her head moving as he chuckled: "We were living together then, and yet we had nothing?"
Actually, at that time, he couldn’t imagine that Sienna Thornton’s relationship with the Raines Family was so bad. He simply saw her off home because she couldn’t drive due to inconvenience. He thought, once she was safely home with her family, he could return to the city.
He could have easily arranged for a Forrester driver to take Sienna back overnight, but he insisted on taking her himself because, truthfully, he already had a liking for her and wanted more opportunities to be together.
In the end, events unfolded as he wished, which was why she was now nestled softly in his arms, loving him tenderly.
He snapped back to reality, suddenly speaking in a low voice. "Did that leave?"
She blushed, softly responding with an "Mm."
