Chapter 218: Chapter 216: Flowers

"When Lawyer Jefferson walked in at the mansion today, I was quite surprised. I’ve never heard that she’s particularly close with Partner Reed, but now it seems that the two have suddenly hit it off..." Sienna Thornton played with the water in the bathtub.

Simon Forrester enveloped her in his arms, leaned back, closed his eyes for a brief rest, and replied leisurely, "Thomas Reed is the type who likes to ’graze at home.’ His ex-wife is rumored to be the sister of one of his buddies."

"Hehe," Sienna laughed, scooping up some water and splashing it onto Simon’s body. "If he likes ’grazing at home,’ then what kind of ’grazing’ do you prefer?"

"I don’t want grazing; I want flowers—the most outstanding bloom on the entire mountain!" He said as he opened his eyes and gently nibbled on Sienna’s clean and slender fingers.

Giggling from his playful nibble, Sienna’s other hand splashed water around in the bathtub, wetting her freshly washed hair again.

After horsing around for a while, the couple finally left the bathroom and prepared for bed.

They had departed from Wrayhaven at around seven this morning, spent the day traveling, and endured a somewhat restless afternoon at the mansion. Exhausted, they lay in bed, trying to doze off while chatting quietly.

Simon recalled a conversation he overheard a year ago between Jane Jefferson and her colleagues at Vantage while he was visiting Sienna. Reflecting upon it now, Jane probably started messing around with Thomas back then. And due to rumors within Vantage about Thomas and Sienna, Jane spoke of Sienna with a certain passive-aggressive undertone.

Indeed, there’s often a rationale behind people’s peculiar behaviors.

"What are you thinking about?" Sienna nestled into his arms, playing with the stubble just emerging on his chin.

He snapped out of his thoughts, hugged her tightly, and softly asked, "Everything is set up; now, as soon as the civil lawyer is in place, the firm can officially apply for a license, right?"

Sienna nodded, "Partner Reed agreed to help me find someone. He has many lawyer friends, so it shouldn’t take too long."

Because she only has three years of experience, she can’t establish a personal firm. She needs to find two other lawyers with more than three years of experience to form a partnership.

Though the thought of Thomas helping find someone was unsettling for Simon, he had to admit that Thomas was well-connected within legal circles. Plus, he was eager for Sienna’s firm to open soon. It would provide her with work and income, positively impacting her mood and emotions. Moreover, he could transfer The Forresters’ legal business to her at a premium so that she could earn more.

Despite her being quite well-off now, after all, no one ever complains about having too much money.

"Why are you silent again? What are you thinking about?" The person in his arms squirmed restlessly.

He held her still, steering the topic elsewhere: "Half the year has passed. Your law firm is about to be established, so when’s the promised trip to Europe happening?"

"Hmm," Sienna pulled out her phone to check the calendar. "Why not go in a couple of days? Anyway, we’re temporarily unable to find partners." Pausing after her suggestion, she countered herself, "No, no, I promised your grandpa tonight to accompany him at the mansion for a few days."

"... Who’s more important, Grandpa or me?"

"You’re so childish, arguing with your own grandfather?" Sienna rolled back to her spot and turned off the room’s only floor-standing night lamp, "Alright, sleep."

"..."

-

During the New Year, Sienna and Simon went to the mansion every day to chat and keep Old Master Forrester company, which made him very happy, looking a few years younger.

Occasionally, Uncle Grant would bring his little grandson Ronan over for a visit. While Uncle Grant played chess with Old Master Forrester, Ronan would stick to Simon, although Simon only wanted to be near Sienna. This led to Ronan always trailing behind Sienna and Simon.

This day, after several days of gloomy weather, Brimfield suddenly cleared up. Seeing the nice weather, Old Master Forrester and Uncle Grant took their bird cages to the park for a stroll.

Sienna, Simon, and Ronan started a game of landlord at a stone table in the courtyard.

The afternoon sun was warm and pleasant, casting a comfortable glow.

In the midst of their card game, a servant from the Grants suddenly rushed over to report that Ian Grant, the second daughter of the Grant family, had arrived, and Uncle Grant needed to hurry back.

Upon hearing his aunt’s name, Ronan abruptly abandoned the card game in fright and ran home.

Simon and Sienna had to restart the game. As they played, Sienna asked curiously, "Is the second daughter of the Grant family that scary? Why did Ronan run at the mention of her name?"

Simon casually replied while handling his cards: "The wife of the Court G president, probably quite stern; I suppose Ronan has been often reprimanded by her."

"Oh my!" Sienna exclaimed, momentarily forgetting her cards, turning her head to look at the gray walls and brown tiles of the courtyard next door. "I didn’t realize we lived next to such powerful judicial connections."

Simon: "Are you calling landlord?"

Sienna, without even glancing at her cards, instinctively replied, "... Not calling."

Simon chuckled, unexpectedly playing a sequence from 3 to A. With a "snap," the cards scattered across the stone table, leading Sienna to turn around and sigh, "Can’t beat that."

After a few rounds, seeing herself on the brink of being penniless, Sienna began to act up and refused to play.

Caught up in his winning streak, Simon, persuading Sienna to continue, proposed she could name any reward if she won.

Sienna pouted, staring skeptically at her likely losing hand, "I truly don’t need anything right now."

Knowing that money, cars, or houses couldn’t allure her, Simon decisively offered: "If you win, you get to dictate tonight’s agenda!"

Sienna rolled her eyes at him lackadaisically. "I’m already in charge of the agenda."

Simon: "..."

As he racked his brain trying to find a way to entice Sienna, Ronan dashed over again, shouting from the doorway: "Cyrus, my uncle and cousin are here too, are you coming over to play?"

Simon waved him off: "Bro is busy gaming with your sister-in-law, not coming over, you go have fun yourself."

"Alright." With that, Ronan scurried back home.

Kicking off her short boots, Sienna poked Simon’s leg with her toes, asking, "Is Ronan’s uncle the president of Court G?"

Simon hummed, his focus still on his cards.

Sienna nudged his arm again, nodding towards the neighboring wall, "Shall we go? I’d love to meet the Court G president in person."

At this, Simon finally lifted his gaze, brows raised, eyes scanning Sienna playfully, "Alright, we’ll visit, but then back to our game? If you lose, then tonight I’ll call the shots?"
