Oops, I had a ONS With My Secret Ex-husband-Chapter 535 No Need
"Your help is completely unnecessary for me, so this time, you handle it yourself. I don’t want to have any communication with you, and I don’t need to see a psychologist. I just need some time to rest on my own."
Ji Yu had always felt that there was nothing wrong with her mental state. If she were really struggling because of their issues, she probably wouldn’t have made it this far in life.
"The reason I’ve managed to survive up to now is because I have a fairly open mind. As long as you’re not around me, I think I’d be quite happy."
She had already made herself clear, but Jiang Huai still showed no signs of getting upset. Instead, he gently ruffled her hair with a soft expression.
"I know you’re definitely feeling uncomfortable right now, but it’s okay. As long as I’m by your side, nothing like this will continue to trouble you."
But the one causing trouble was clearly him.
Ji Yu couldn’t even bother ridiculing him anymore.
"Say whatever you like. I don’t really know you that well anyway."
"Yu, you and I can’t possibly be unfamiliar with each other. How could I, someone who loves you so much, not know you well?" he said with a smile, his gaze on Ji Yu filled with an almost obsessive determination.
Ji Yu didn’t know what to say. "Fine. Do whatever you want. I need to start working. Shouldn’t you get back to your own matters? Also, regarding my father’s situation, I don’t want it dragging on any further."
She would keep her promises, but she wouldn’t compromise on certain things.
"I understand what you mean. You don’t have to worry. These things are just trivial matters to me. I’ll make sure Uncle comes back to you safe and sound."
Ji Yu took a deep breath and didn’t respond further. She couldn’t tell whether she believed him or not.
Seeing her like this, Jiang Huai suddenly chuckled. "Yu, sometimes you don’t need to think so negatively. I’m always by your side—I won’t let anything unexpected happen to you."
"Is that so?" Ji Yu didn’t know how to describe her current situation; she only knew that her emotions were an intricate mess.
"Can you leave now? I need some space."
Jiang Huai left after all.
But even when he wasn’t at the office, he still arranged for bodyguards to follow Ji Yu everywhere.
Sometimes Ji Yu had this illusion that she wasn’t a free person, but a prisoner. Otherwise, why would she be monitored every single day?
Thinking about it made Ji Yu frustrated. This kind of situation was truly unsettling.
"I want to go out."
The two bodyguards didn’t refuse; they simply followed Ji Yu, staying close to her in every situation. To an outsider, they might have seemed like regular bodyguards, but Ji Yu knew they were the shackles binding her.
"Miss Ji, there’s no need to resent us like this. Our sole purpose is to ensure you don’t meet people you’re not supposed to. Take yesterday’s events, for example—they made Mr. Jiang very upset. All you need to do is cooperate with us." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
So apparently, no matter whom she met, it was deemed inappropriate.
Ji Yu found the whole thing absurd.
"I don’t have the time or energy to argue with you. I’m going to see my friend now. Are you seriously planning to keep following me?" Today, she was heading to see Feng Qinqin.
There were some things Ji Yu couldn’t stand being kept in the dark about anymore.
After all, only the people closest to her would know about these matters.
Their purpose was to stop Ji Yu from meeting Gu Qixiao, but Feng Qinqin was still deemed acceptable.
As long as they didn’t talk about things they shouldn’t, it was allowed.
When Feng Qinqin saw Ji Yu, she froze for a moment.
"Yuyu, who are those two people with you?"
It was common knowledge that Ji Yu didn’t usually have the habit of bringing bodyguards around.
"Just two crazy bodyguards. They’ll be sticking with me no matter what. Let’s just talk about our stuff and ignore them."
Ji Yu found them annoying, but for now, she couldn’t shake off these chains. After all, her father was still in their hands.
Feng Qinqin’s gaze turned worried. It wasn’t often Ji Yu referred to someone as crazy. The only person capable of earning that label from her was probably Jiang Huai.
"Yuyu, did you have another quarrel with Jiang Huai? That man is truly impossible to shake off. I don’t know what kind of methods he uses, but I just hope you can stay true to yourself."
Feng Qinqin’s heart ached for Ji Yu and all the hardships she had endured recently—it was such a mess every single time.
"I’m fine. Jiang Huai can’t be offended right now. He’s helping with my father’s treatment. You know how bad my father’s condition is."
Mentioning this made Ji Yu’s heart ache. She genuinely didn’t want to have any more interactions with Jiang Huai.
But some things could only be handled through him.
"So what exactly is the situation between you and Jiang Huai? Are you seriously planning to stay by his side for the rest of your life?" Feng Qinqin couldn’t accept such a fate for Ji Yu. In her eyes, Ji Yu deserved a happy life, free from these kinds of troubles.
Ji Yu didn’t think it was that big of a deal. "For now, my father’s health is my priority. If Jiang Huai can genuinely help, then even staying by his side for the rest of my life is something I can accept."
But if he failed, that would be another matter entirely.
Ji Yu was practical about these things. She couldn’t just sit by and let something happen to her father, nor could she allow the situation to spiral further out of control.
"Yuyu, don’t push yourself too hard. Uncle Hu wouldn’t want to see you like this. If he wakes up and learns everything you went through, it would break his heart."
Everyone knew just how complicated this was.
And besides, Jiang Huai wasn’t trustworthy at all. His words could only be half-believed, and even that half was difficult enough to discern.
"I know what I’m doing. I came to you today because there’s something I can’t quite figure out. Qinqin, have you heard of someone named Gu Qixiao?" Ji Yu felt a bit of relief after saying the name out loud.
But Feng Qinqin hesitated.
After all, Ji Yu was still under Jiang Huai’s watch. Thinking about Gu Qixiao couldn’t possibly lead to anything good. Even talking about it wasn’t a safe idea.
"I want to know who he is."
