Oops, I had a ONS With My Secret Ex-husband-Chapter 522 Taking Care of Someone
Madam Ji had always treated her like a daughter, so now she felt that Ji Yu had suffered greatly.
"You silly girl, don’t overthink everything. We know this must be a very painful time for you, so why don’t you stay at home with us for a while?"
Being surrounded by so many people was certainly better than living alone in the villa.
Ji Yu knew her mental state hadn’t been right lately. If things continued like this, it might lead to psychological issues, so she agreed without hesitation.
With their company, Ji Yu gradually began to feel more relaxed, both physically and emotionally.
Feng Qinqin, seeing her this way, finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Yuyu, you really scared me this time. I thought you wouldn’t make it through, but fortunately, things turned out okay in the end. Uncle Hu must have been hoping you’d continue living your life well."
The two of them were best friends, so there was no need for avoidance in their conversation.
Ji Yu had been wanting to ask a question.
"Qinqin, have you and my brother broken up?"
It had been a long time since the two of them were seen together. This was highly unusual, and something about it didn’t seem right.
Feng Qinqin’s hand holding the wineglass paused slightly, her expression turning bitter. She had been hoping to keep this a secret for the time being, but she hadn’t expected Ji Yu to notice.
"We did break up. But it’s nothing dramatic—just a peaceful separation. It’s a pretty normal kind of relationship outcome."
She didn’t see the breakup as a big deal. Their relationship had already been on the decline, so splitting up like this might actually be for the best.
"If we had kept dragging it out, we would’ve ended up hurting each other even more. Letting go now is better for both of us."
It was just that neither of them could completely move on for the time being.
Ji Yu didn’t know what to say. She could only acknowledge that the situation was indeed quite messy.
"Qinqin, if you and my brother can’t be together for now, why not take it slow? I believe that you two might have rushed things before."
Not everyone is suited to a fast-paced romance. Perhaps they needed some time to better understand each other. If their hearts still held feelings for one another, breaking up would never truly be the end.
Ji Yu expressed her thoughts plainly.
"Yes, yes, but the truth is, my relationship with your brother has always been full of ups and downs. Everyone we meet seems to come with their own baggage. But things between you and Gu Qixiao seem even harder to untangle."
No one could have anticipated the mess Gu Qixiao was in now or the fact that he had lost all his previous memories.
"Are you really ready to give up just like that?" Feng Qinqin didn’t quite believe it. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
If it were so easy to let go, they wouldn’t have been entangled for this long. Their relationship was full of complexities, but no third party had ever intervened.
"You already know, don’t you? I have a fiancé now. Given this, we’re like ships that pass in the night. I’m happy with my current life."
Ji Yu didn’t dwell on situations like this. Without the fate to be together, holding on would only bring pain to everyone involved.
By now, it wasn’t about who was right or wrong.
Their breakup was inevitable. Since that was the case, there was no need to cling to or struggle against it anymore.
"If I had your kind of resolve, I wouldn’t be so upset about all this. But honestly, the way you’ve handled things might hurt him deeply."
Feng Qinqin knew Gu Qixiao well. Once he fell in love, he would forget who he had been before.
"I just feel like you two are destined to meet again, and your connection won’t be broken so easily. Trust me." Feng Qinqin was never wrong when it came to judging people.
Besides, they had already spent so much time together, and they were on the verge of marriage. If they couldn’t be with each other because of this, how painful would that be? It would be better to carefully reconsider things.
"There’s nothing to reconsider. My dad wants me to find a good match, someone who can take care of me, so I’ve chosen my current fiancé. There’s nothing wrong with that."
Ji Yu initially chose this person as a way to temporarily detach herself from her predicaments.
But on second thought, it wasn’t really fair to him. Lin Shuyu didn’t seem to have anyone he loved—otherwise, wouldn’t this be wasting his time and youth?
"Let’s stop dwelling on these messy issues. Let’s have a drink and enjoy ourselves. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a chat like this."
God knows how much Feng Qinqin had missed the old days during this period, when life wasn’t so exhausting. At least back then, they had more time to rest.
"Qinqin, I have some work to finish, so let’s call it a day for now. I’ll find time to drink with you again next time."
Ji Yu knew how terrible her emotional state was right now. Handling the company’s matters seemed like a better idea. If somebody took advantage of this opportunity to replace her, she’d never forgive herself.
"Don’t push yourself so hard. If your health breaks down, Uncle Hu wouldn’t be happy to see that. Besides, work can always wait—you shouldn’t stay up late and ruin your body." Feng Qinqin sometimes felt like a nagging caretaker. How else could she say such things?
"Thank you for saying that. I know this situation is complicated, but hearing your words has made me feel a bit better."
Sometimes sharing one’s struggles with a good friend was the only way to ease the pain.
Ji Yu was a strong person at heart, so she didn’t let herself feel too overwhelmed.
But when she saw Hu Qianqian, Ji Yu still felt deeply irritated. She couldn’t understand where Hu Qianqian got the nerve to linger in the company.
"I’ve said this before—I don’t want to have any communication with you."
