Only You: The Billionaire's Obsession-Chapter 212: The Sudden Truth
Ye Zhilin suddenly gripped her collar nervously, as if doing so could warm her body, frozen to the extreme by a chilling presence. "You... you’re Gu Qiyun, here to claim my life?"
"Yes," Gu Jiayin drawled with a lazy, chilling smile, each word meticulously articulated to instill the deepest fear in Ye Zhilin. "My soul has remained at Crocodile Bay, unable to return to Heaven. It’s so cold and gloomy there, it’s unbearably sad. I’m not happy, so I had to find you, to let you share in my sorrow."
Ye Zhilin’s face turned pale, her lips trembling uncontrollably, her heart pounding so wildly that it rendered her incapable of hearing anything else. "Gu Qiyun, please don’t harm me. It was Qin Zhennan and Gu Shaohua who conspired against you and your child. I had no part in it."
"!"
It was like thunder cracking in a clear sky, shattering the barriers in Gu Jiayin’s mind.
Gu Shaohua.
She had only ever believed that it was the Qin Family who wanted to harm her and her children, never considering that Gu Shaohua could be so ruthless. She assumed the rift between Gu Shaohua and her mother, Gu Qiyun, was just because of personal grievances.
Her previous feelings towards Gu Shaohua were merely of dislike, not hate.
But now, a seething hatred stretched her body taut, the rigidity fraught with intense pain and trembling. "Say it again. What did Gu Shaohua do?"
Ye Zhilin was scared out of her wits, her reasoning completely shattered. "I had nothing to do with it all. It was Qin Zhennan and Gu Shaohua who conspired to estrange you and Sheng Lanzhang, to sabotage your relationship. Later, it was also their scheme to sink the boat and drown you and your child. I had no part in it."
So, it was a conspiracy hatched by Qin Zhennan and Gu Shaohua all along.
Gu Jiayin’s eyes glowed with a sinister red hue, her fists clenched tightly. Through gritted teeth, she spat out each word, "Even if you didn’t participate, you were eagerly hoping for my death, weren’t you? When they committed the crime, you were an accomplice, weren’t you?"
Ye Zhilin dared not deny it, pleading desperately, "I was wrong. I was wrong, Miss Gu, please spare me?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Gu Jiayin sneered coldly, "Spare you? Who will compensate for all those years of humiliation I endured?" Her eyes glinted with a grim, killing determination. "Hence, you must die!"
The entire Qin Family must perish!
Gu Jiayin stepped forward, gripping Ye Zhilin’s neck with one hand, and suddenly applied pressure.
Ye Zhilin, terrified to the core, fainted instantly from the shock of being choked.
Surveying the ashen-faced Ye Zhilin, Gu Jiayin sobered for a moment. Although she wanted to kill Ye Zhilin, she couldn’t do it here, so she relaxed her grip and walked out of the room.
The maid who was attending to Ye Zhilin stood at the door, looking at her with a face full of panic.
This maid was the very one who had, during Gu Jiayin’s early days in the Qin Family, attempted to throw her out and gotten her wrist broken by Gu Jiayin.
Gu Jiayin stared straight at her, sneering coldly, "As soon as I walked in, I heard Aunt Ye screaming that my mother’s spirit was haunting her. Her mental state wasn’t good, and she fainted before I had a chance to speak to her."
The maid glanced inside worriedly, seeing Ye Zhilin quietly slumped in her wheelchair, her face ghostly pale.
The maid believed what Gu Jiayin said because Ye Zhilin often inexplicably claimed that Gu Qiyun was coming for her life. Because of this, Qin Zhennan had confined her to the basement of the villa’s backyard.
Thus, she didn’t suspect Gu Jiayin in the least.
Facing Gu Jiayin, she was as skittish as a bird that’s been shot at, "I understand, Miss Gu. I will call for a doctor to treat Madam."
Gu Jiayin curled her lips in a mysterious smile, though it didn’t reach her eyes, "Don’t you know that mind diseases need psychological treatment?" Seeing the maid’s puzzled look, she continued to pave the way for her plan, "Doctors can’t cure Aunt Ye’s illness."
The maid was captivated, intensely focused on Gu Jiayin, "What do you mean?"
Gu Jiayin quirked a wicked smirk, "She feels guilty about my mother, so she’s afraid every day that my mother will seek her out. So why not take her to the site where my mother drowned, to make offerings and repent? Persuade her more, and this mental illness will be cured."
Being a superstitious woman from the countryside, the maid was immediately convinced by Gu Jiayin’s words, although she didn’t dare take Ye Zhilin out due to orders from Qin Yiheng.
Gu Jiayin easily picked up on her hesitation, "Think about it. If you can cure Aunt Ye’s mental anguish, just imagine how grateful she’d be. Your days in the Qin Family would improve greatly."
As Gu Jiayin walked away, she patted the maid on the shoulder as they passed each other, "Think about it carefully."
...
After Gu Jiayin left, the maid pondered for a few seconds, growing more tempted by the idea, and eventually strode into the room.
She splashed cold water on Ye Zhilin’s face, rousing her from unconsciousness.
As soon as she awoke, Ye Zhilin frantically fumbled around, muttering unceasingly, "Don’t kill me, don’t kill me."
"Madam, it’s me." The maid comforted quickly.
Ye Zhilin clung to the maid’s wrist as if it were a lifeline, "Gu Qiyun came again. She wants to claim my life."
The maid patted her hand reassuringly, "Madam, don’t be afraid. There’s a way to send Gu Qiyun’s spirit away."
"What way?" Ye Zhilin’s eyes were frenzied.
The maid whispered into Ye Zhilin’s ear, leaving her excited and gripping the maid’s hand, "Then let’s go now."
"But," the maid hesitated, "The young master doesn’t allow you to go out. If I take you out, he’ll hold me accountable..."
"Don’t worry," Ye Zhilin said, "I’ll talk to the young master. I’ll say I forced you to take me out. It’s not your fault."
The maid finally relaxed, immediately collecting things for departure.
Gu Jiayin lingered behind the trees outside the Qin Family villa. Watching Ye Zhilin’s car driving away, she coldly smiled, "Ye Zhilin, today I’ll send you to hell."
...
The summer in Licheng City was rain-soaked.
The morning sky, once clear, was now gradually overcast.
Accompanied by the maid, Ye Zhilin had the car driven to the foot of the mountain beside the Luo River, ordering the driver to wait at the mountain base while she and the maid climbed the steps towards the cliff.
The section of river directly beneath the cliff was where Gu Qiyun’s boat sank years earlier.
The maid swiftly arranged offerings and lit incense candles.
Ye Zhilin knelt towards the river’s edge. Blindness rendered her world dark, amplifying the feeling that Gu Qiyun was watching her from behind, chilling her spine.
She clasped her hands together, kowtowing repeatedly, "Miss Gu, I was wrong. Please stop haunting me and go to Heaven. I’ll burn money for you, plenty of it."
The maid knelt beside her, echoing her sentiment obsequiously, "Yes, Mrs. Gu, please spare my lady. Go peacefully to Heaven."
Gu Jiayin emerged from the thicket, her eyes dark with murderous intent as she watched the two women kneeling at the cliff.
In her hand, she gripped a crocodile-skin whip.
The mountain stream flowed silently at her feet, dampening her shoes.
