Only Wisdom Awakened-Chapter 169: Snow-White
"You… know who ’they’ are?!"
"Yes, I think so"
The man immediately grabbed Hans’s shirt from behind and begged:
"Please, tell me! I need to know! I have the right to know!"
"No.
We will talk about it when that barrier of yours will be able to take one punch from me."
’Th-the barrier?
If it’s just that… It won’t take me much’
He let go of Hans’s shirt before walking away muttering something to himself.
’What the hell got into him?’
Hans thought.
’I did bullshit quite a bit since I’m not sure, but it was all to fasten his growth, I may need him to protect this place or to cast a barrier for my family in the future, so it’s better if he upgrades quickly.’
Little did Hans know, for Henriksson, knowing that information was as important as discovering the culprits behind his family murder.
Both his brother and his father had died due to the monsters, and he had never even met his mother.
Destroy what had taken it all away from him, that was his initial objective.
Then, with the passage of months and years inside the Immortal Construction agency, he had lost his path, giving up.
He thought never in his life he would’ve been able to take revenge, but now, he had a chance to at least discover who his target was.
’The barrier, I must… improve the barrier’
Hans had just unconsciously transformed a genius into a monster by giving him the needed motivation.
"Whatever, I’m sure he’ll sort things out just fine.
Now, what should I do?
Oh! That’s right, I promised Ember to take her for a hunt, and I shouldn’t go back on my words.
Hans once again ventured Into the woods surrounding the Academy campus, searching for an open gate to clear.
However, when he was about to release his mana into the air to scout the surroundings, he felt something stopping him.
It wasn’t a strong feeling of oppression, but more like stepping on a string.
He could feel that if he had released his mana, an alarm would’ve gone off.
"Ugh! Is this something like a mana sensor?"
I guess they must’ve placed it to cover the whole woods after the last assault.
Damn! I don’t know where to find a gate now.
Should I just forget about it?"
That seemed like the best option, but by doing so, he would let down his little friend’s expectations.
"Sigh… Nah, I would feel horrible if I did something like that.
Since I’m free today, I’ll just go to LA and raid one of the gates there."
Hans returned to his apartment where he picked up Ember, and after a brief walk, he reached the parking lot of the Academy, where a few luxurious cars were parked.
However, none of them belonged to him.
"Cone to think of it, I was studying for my driver’s license, I guess I won’t need it now that I can allow myself to employ a full crew for the jet.
Maybe I should get a secretary just like Ava.

What would I make them do tough? I don’t even have much going on right now, not much that can be resolved by an assistant i mean."
"Should I call a taxi?"
Hans was bothered by having to wait such a long time, so he instead decided to get to the city in his own way.
He was about twenty-five miles from Los Angeles at the moment, so instead of going there, he decided to visit a smaller and slightly closer city:
Santa Monica.
He hid with {stealth} and picked up Ember before lifting his body in the air with {telekinesis}.
Coupling {telekinesis} and {repulsion}, it didn’t take more than five minutes for him to get to his destination.
Even if such a method was not efficient for battles since it wasn’t really precise and didn’t allow much control of his body in the air, it was still really efficient for medium-distance travel.
Once back with his feet on the ground, Hans opened his phone and searched on the app for a gate to clear in the vicinity.
{Mission to close the gate:
Gate rank: E
Gate name: Snowy Plains
Additional information: inhabited by blue wolves, ferocious creatures who like to hunt in packs.
Reward: 80 % of the loot sold from the gate.}
He had chosen this one because he wanted to let Ember have fun against opponents of her own tier.
Had he chosen something like a C-tier gate, it would’ve been impossible for his little friend to do anything.
Also, the gate seemed to be centered around a cold biome, so maybe that could’ve helped her blend in with the environment and camouflage for an eventual ambush.
Hans clicked on the prompt:
[accept] and the mission was immediately handed over to him.
"Let’s go have some fun then"
In the meantime, in a branch of the Association, an employee was checking the message he had just received.
"Ding!"
…
After reading for a few seconds, he talked to his boss.
"Boss, someone booked a new gate raid"
"Which one?"
"The one we registered yesterday, the snowy plains"
"Oh, was it… E-rank?"
"Yeah, they also requested a bus for the delivery of the looted materials afterward"
"Alright, I will go and inform the transportation team"
"Thanks, the coffee’s on me late-"
Before he could finish the phrase, his eyes fell on the name of the person who had taken up the commission, stunning him.
"What?! I can’t hear you, come on say it again"
Teased his boss.
But the only response he got was from the stuttering man, who got up from his seat amazed.
"H-hans Richter…"
"Uh? What about him?"
"N-no, I mean, the person who took up the gate raid mission!"
"Uh? What would an S-rank like him do in an E-rank gate anyway? You must’ve seen it wrong, get up let me see"
Thinking his colleague had read the name wrong, the boss took his place and spelled out the letters one at a time.
"H. A. N. S. R. I. C. H. T. E. R
Hans Richter.
See, I told you it was just a similar-
Wait what?!"
"God dammit it’s really him!"
"What the hell is he doing here anyway? Wasn’t he in Greenland a few days ago?"
"Uh… that’s right! The Academy isn’t far from here"
"So that’s it! This is one of the closest cities to the Academy, he must’ve come here to release a bit of his stress."
"Alright but… does an E-rank gate even help in relieving his stress?
I mean, I’m pretty sure he could end it with a single spell"
"Thats… I don’t know, it’s always the rich people who do strange things, I guess we’ll be able to tell once we become rich"
"If only it was that easy…"
Whined the boss.
In the meantime…
Inside the gate, a group of five blue wolves were scouting the forest.
Between the naked trees, they could smell the scent of something unfamiliar.
"Sniff sniff" the leader of the group seemed to scout through his nose, before gesturing for the others to follow him with his head.
’Come on... just like you did a few months ago...’
Thought Hans, who was watching from a few meters away while covered by {stealth}.
As the wolves walked towards him, the sound of a branch snapping was heard, and the beasts were alerted, causing them to raise their heads towards the tall trees.
After a few seconds, the silence was replaced with a desperate howl from one of the five, who had been attacked by surprise.
Between its blue thick fur, was a white snow snake, which was violently munching with its sharp fangs on the wolf’s throat, while its body was wrapped around one of the animal’s front paws, to prevent a sudden counter-attack.
The moon snake’s race skill: {moon bite} which she possessed since birth, kicked in, slowly freezing the body of the wolf from the inside, making it collapse.
Only after the carcass fell to the ground did the other beast charge towards the reptile.
Evading the claws and the fangs of four wolves at once was no easy feat, especially since Ember’s main stat wasn’t dexterity.
But her immaculate white skin and flexible body allowed her to confuse the opponents and avoid getting stepped on.
Slithering through the paws of the wolves, Ember bit them one by one, and after a few seconds, their movements had already slowed down.
As soon as the opportunity came, she climbed up the body of the leader before twirling around its throat and finally choking it.
The rest of the opponents, intimidated by the death of their leader and half-handicapped by the frost poison in their bodies, couldn’t even muster the strength to run away, and died after a few seconds of battle.
"I see, it seems like even after such a long time…
My little queen still hasn’t lost her touch"
