Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Endless Illusions, Breaking Free from the Illusion
"I want to see just how strong these illusions are." Johnnie looked at the few girls rushing toward him, completely ignoring them, and focused, trying to control the illusions to disappear.
But nothing changed.
"Johnnie, we’ve been worried about you these past few days. We’re glad you’re safe." Crysic grabbed his arm, her joy clearly visible on her face.
Johnnie, however, frowned. He knew all of this was fake, and he wasn’t out of the illusion yet.
Also, the strength of this illusion had gone beyond his control, and he couldn’t make it disappear.
It seemed like they were trying to stop him from getting closer to the Core of the Secret Realm.
Johnnie sneered. He thought to himself, and the Void Sword appeared in his hand.
"Crysic, I’m about to see you again." he said calmly and, without hesitation, slashed the girls down.
Zing...
The surrounding scene changed, and the illusion didn’t disappear. Instead, a new illusion appeared.
"Johnnie, you’ve suffered so much these past years."
His deceased parents appeared again.
"Ah." Johnnie sighed and lifted his sword again.
"Johnnie, you’re getting more and more reckless. How dare you attack us!" A furious voice roared, and his parents’ faces turned monstrous, attacking him.
Johnnie sneered. He could feel that the surrounding illusions had become extremely agitated, completely out of the ordinary.
It seemed like the other side was getting extremely nervous.
Growl, growl...
A series of furious roars echoed, and countless monsters appeared, endless in number, completely surrounding his figure.
Johnnie remained unmoved and closed his eyes immediately.
He knew they were all illusions and wouldn’t hurt him.
But these illusions were too strong, and he could no longer control them to disappear.
It seemed the Core of the Secret Realm was nearby.
Johnnie knew they were trying to trap him in the illusion and stop him from moving forward.
If he couldn’t break the illusion, then he wouldn’t pay any attention to it.
He shut his eyes tightly, ignoring the roaring and the whistling of weapons around him, letting the illusions attack as they pleased.
His body felt a lot of pain, and the sensation was incredibly real.
Johnnie didn’t budge. Relying on his sense, he slowly walked deeper into the mist.
"Human, you’re going to die!" Suddenly, a furious roar echoed.
Johnnie opened his eyes sharply. He recognized that voice too well.
In front of him, a creature appeared—half human, half beast, with a human body and a snake tail. Its face was cruel, and it radiated a terrifying aura.
Pluto!
The first god to invade Earth in his previous life, the one who brought a catastrophic disaster to humanity.
"Hmph, another illusion!" Johnnie raised his sword and put it down, looking unimpressed.
The snake-like demon had an extremely terrifying presence, and the aura it emitted was very similar to Pluto’s.
But he knew, deep down, that it was still an illusion, formed based on his memories.
Whoosh!
A strong wind blew, and Pluto charged forward, his mouth wide open, trying to swallow him in one bite.
Johnnie showed no respect, closed his eyes, ignored everything, and kept moving forward.
A strong stench came over him, and he felt dizzy, as if he had been swallowed by Pluto’s belly.
He remained completely calm.
If a god being really wanted to attack him, he could probably kill him with just a single thought.
"Human, you won’t die well. I won’t let you go..."
In the mist, Pluto’s furious roar echoed and then gradually faded away.
Johnnie paid no attention and kept moving forward.
Zing!
A fluctuation of spatial power.
[Ding, you have entered the Fantasy Palace]
The prompt message flashed, and Johnnie opened his eyes. The mist disappeared, and he found himself in a palace.
Was this where the Core of the Secret Realm was located?
"Human!" Suddenly, a deep voice echoed through the hall: "You are strong, but you still can’t leave this realm. I’ll give you a chance—stay here quietly, or I’ll make you disappear forever!"
In the hall, a spirit appeared, floating in mid-air, with claws extended, staring coldly at Johnnie.
[Guardian of the Illusions, Level Unknown, Attribute Unknown]
Johnnie couldn’t see the exact attributes of the creature, but it was definitely far stronger than him.
But he wasn’t the least bit afraid. This was a spirit, and the Void Sword could easily suppress it.
"No!" Johnnie frowned, looking at his Void Sword, but there was no change.
He clearly remembered that whenever he faced a spirit, the Void Sword would become especially excited.
This was still an illusion!
Johnnie realized it, his expression turned serious. This time, he almost fell for it.
"I’ll see what this Core of the Secret Realm really is." he took a deep breath, focused his mind, and completely emptied his thoughts, then kept moving forward.
"Stubborn fool. If that’s the case, then you’ll disappear forever." a roar came, and the fierce spirit lunged forward.
Johnnie didn’t move, didn’t resist at all, and kept walking forward.
Zing!
In an instant, he felt a chill all over his body, and his body was wrapped by the spirit. His life force quickly faded, and that feeling of nearly dying returned, making him want to fight back deep down.
But the Void Sword in his hand remained unchanged, reminding him that all of this was just an illusion.
Johnnie kept moving forward.
Whoosh!
A strong wind blew, and the cold feeling from the soul faded. The palace disappeared, and he was still in the mist.
But ahead, there were streaks of colorful light glowing, and the mist was painted in colors, like a dream. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Was this the Core of the Secret Realm?
Johnnie quickened his pace and rushed toward the light.
It was a seven-colored jade stone, exuding a mesmerizing charm. He only looked at it for a couple of seconds, and he almost fell into it.
Johnnie was certain this was the Core of the Secret Realm, but how should he refine it?
He was confused and approached it, gently touching the jade.
Zing...
A dreamlike light flashed, and Johnnie’s entire life, from birth to the present, flashed before his eyes like a movie, quickly scrolling through his memory.
[Ding, you have discovered the Core of the Secret Realm. Do you wish to refine it? After refining it, you will be able to control the Endless Mirage]
The prompt appeared, and Johnnie’s eyes lit up.
"Refine it!"
He chose to refine it without hesitation.
Zing!
In an instant, the seven-color jade stone merged into his body.
[Ding, you have fully mastered the Endless Mirage]
Johnnie felt a complete sense of control over everything around him. He thought to himself, and the endless mist disappeared, revealing the layout of this space—a vast, empty land with nothing in sight.
"I’ll go back to the real world first." Johnnie thought to himself and directly cut the game connection.
After refining the Core of the Secret Realm, he could log out anytime he wanted.
"Johnnie, what the hell happened? Why won’t you wake up?"
A voice of crying came from beside the bed.
Johnnie regained his consciousness and slowly opened his eyes.
"Johnnie, you’re finally awake?!" Cecilia cried in surprise, and immediately threw herself into his arms.
"Johnnie!" Lina and the others saw this and finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Johnnie, I thought I’d never see you again. I don’t want to go through this separation again. Promise me, don’t go back into the game, okay?" Crysic grabbed his arm and begged him with a humble tone.
Huh?
Johnnie slightly frowned. Something was wrong.
What did Crysic mean by saying she didn’t want to experience separation again?
In the previous life, they had experienced a separation, but not in this one.
Illusion!
This was still an illusion!
He thought about what had happened when he touched the seven-color jade stone, and the entire course of his life, from birth to now, flashed before his eyes like a movie.
This wasn’t his memory at all—it was the jade stone stealing his memories.
All the girls were created based on the deepest parts of his mind.
Johnnie kept his expression calm and smiled, saying, "Okay, once I deal with the Doe Family, I’ll stay with you forever."
"Really, Johnnie? We can help you too. Now we’re all martial arts disciples, and we’re really strong." Cecilia said happily.
Johnnie nodded, and his smile was completely cold.
He was now certain that everything around him was still an illusion.
The only person who knew about his plan to deal with the Doe Family was the old head of the Wind Family, Felix. He had never told anyone else about it.
But the girls had no surprise at all upon hearing it.
That was a terrifying illusion.
Johnnie felt a bit scared in his heart. He could feel that if he continued to fall into it, he might lose the ability to tell reality from illusion.
He had to find a way out of here as soon as possible!
Johnnie thought to himself, and the Seven Sword appeared in his hand.
This made him even more certain—this was still an illusion.
The Seven Sword recognized him as its master, but it couldn’t be summoned in the real world without attribute fusion.
Johnnie made a quick decision and immediately slashed the girls down.
Zing!
The surrounding scene changed again, and he appeared in the mist once more, with the jade stone glowing with a dreamy light.
Johnnie could feel that everything before him wasn’t an illusion but something real.
"Damn it, I’ll see what you are!" He cursed, raising his Void Sword and slashing toward the seven-color jade stone.
Boom!
The seven-color light trembled, and the scene changed. An army of alien creatures, along with Crysic and the others, his parents, and everyone he knew all appeared, their faces twisted in anger, claws and fangs bared as they rushed at him, trying to stop him from destroying the stone.
"Hmph!" Johnnie sneered, closed his eyes, ignored the attacks, and continued to swing his sword toward where the seven-color jade stone was in his memory.
Boom!
All the figures around him flickered, as if they might vanish at any moment.
He became even more certain that this seven-color jade stone was the Core of the Secret Realm. If he destroyed it, this secret realm would disappear.
Johnnie saw hope, and his attacks became even more intense.
"Human, don’t fight anymore. I’ll let you leave." suddenly, a terrified voice rang out. All the illusions in front of Johnnie vanished, and he found himself back in the mist once again.
The seven-color jade stone now had cracks running through it.
Zing!
At that moment, a fluctuation of spatial power occurred, and Johnnie’s body vanished.
In the next second, he appeared in the middle of a forest.
This was where he had been taken into the Endless Mirage by that Eddie.
"Did I really leave?" Johnnie frowned, already beginning to lose track of what was real and what was an illusion.
Ding!
At that moment, a private message notification popped up. There were dozens of unread messages—mostly from Crysic and the others, as well as Dylan, Aaryn, and Felix.
