Chapter 194: Chapter 194: Slaughter – The Mechanical Race, The Demon Race Arrives
Rumble rumble rumble...
The thunderous roar echoed, and countless lightning serpents rained down from the Azure Dragon’s thunder domain, part of the Four Sacred Guardians’ formation. The attacks carried a paralyzing effect and worked just as well on these Mechanical Monsters.
Whoosh!
Right after that, another wave of attacks descended—flames filled the sky, streaks of golden sword aura, and black water roaring like a river.
These were the powers of the Phoenix, the White Spirit Tiger, and the Black Tortoise.
The Four Sacred Guardians’ formation was running at full strength, barely holding back the assault from the Mechanical Race’s army.
Still, the casualties among the soldiers were heavy. Even though they had discovered the Mechanical Race’s weakness, the soldiers’ attack power was just too low.
It took over a dozen people striking the weak point at the same time to destroy a Mechanical Monster.
What’s worse, every Mechanical Monster exploded upon death, causing even greater casualties among the troops.
Johnnie felt the pressure, too. If he wanted to kill these Mechanical Monsters, he had to control his Swordsmanship Technique with even more precision and hit their weak points.
Plus, the weak point on these monsters was random—it might be the head, or it might be the chest. There was never just one target, which made things even more difficult for him.
Bang!
He took down one of the Mechanical Monsters. There was a loud blast, and he lost another hundred thousand health points.
But with nearly three million health points, that amount of damage barely scratched him.
"Human, you’re courting death!" a cold mechanical voice rang out as three more Mechanical Monsters locked onto him.
"Hmph!" Johnnie snorted dismissively, completely unafraid. He unleashed the Cosmic Eclipse Blade and charged forward to take the fight to them.
The battlefield was absolute chaos.
Even the army of Demonic Creatures gave up attacking the city and turned their focus toward the Mechanical Monsters.
But the Magic Soldiers and Demonic Guards were utterly useless—they were even weaker than the regular troops.
At least the soldiers had coordinated command, concentrating their attacks on the Mechanical Monsters’ weak points.
The Demonic Creatures, on the other hand, just threw their attacks blindly, completely unaware of the Mechanical Race’s weaknesses.
Their attacks did almost no damage to the Mechanical Monsters.
Instead, more and more Magic Soldiers, Demonic Guards, and even powerful Demon Generals were dying in droves, devoured by the swarming crimson beetles.
"Is it our turn to make a move?" Some of the players watching from afar weren’t scared in the slightest. On the contrary, they were itching to join the fight.
"These monsters have slaughtered our comrades. Their crime is unforgivable! Warriors Guild, charge with me!" someone shouted angrily, leading the charge against the Mechanical Monsters.
The others quickly followed, roaring as they rushed in.
But as soon as their attacks landed, they froze in shock.
"What’s going on? Why aren’t they losing health?" a player asked, bewildered by the scene.
No matter how strong the Mechanical Monsters were, even if their attacks couldn’t break through the defense, there should still be a forced deduction of at least one health point.
But right now, their attacks hit, and the Mechanical Monsters didn’t lose a single point of health.
"Ah!"
Screams of agony echoed as many players were ruthlessly slaughtered by the Mechanical Monsters.
"Damn, what kind of monsters are these? Our attacks don’t even lower their HP—how are we supposed to fight them?" The players were stunned, and instinctively tried to retreat.
But more and more Mechanical Monsters surged forward, already locking onto them as targets.
"Shit, I don’t buy it! Are these guys really made out of solid iron?" someone cursed, unleashing a magic skill and raining fire from the sky.
Boom!
With a thunderous bang, a Mechanical Monster exploded right on the spot.
The player’s eyes lit up, and he exclaimed in surprise, "Fire magic! These things are afraid of fire magic!"
Everyone caught on quickly, and the mages in the crowd immediately started casting fire spells.
Meanwhile, the knights, warriors, and other melee class players stepped up to protect the mages.
Bang, bang!
Explosions sounded here and there, but the fire wasn’t nearly as effective as they’d hoped.
The Mechanical Monsters weren’t actually afraid of fire attacks. It’s just that fire-based magic has a wide range, so it sometimes hit their heads or chests—their weak points.
Plus, if a soldier managed to land a hit too, their head or chest would already be weakened, so the players barely managed to kill a few.
"There’s no experience points! What the hell are these monsters?"
Someone noticed something strange and asked in shock.
Killing these Mechanical Monsters didn’t give any rewards, except for the occasional mechanical energy core drop.
But only the Mechanical Race could use those, so they were totally useless to the players.
Johnnie got Mechanical Perception Attribute for every kill, thanks to his Lucky Master class bonus.
For ordinary players, killing these monsters was a complete waste of time.
A lot of players were starting to give up. They weren’t afraid to die, but dying for nothing just wasn’t worth it.
Boom, boom...
Energy cannons kept firing, and lightsabers flashed.
The attacks from these Mechanical Monsters were strange and powerful—regular players just couldn’t stand up to them.
"Are these things really machines? Do they even have life, or are they being controlled by someone?" someone couldn’t help but ask.
"Hell, these guys are way too strong. I’m done with this," another player said, giving up under the pressure.
But not many players actually left—they were still holding onto a sliver of hope.
That hope was the final reward for defending against the Beast Wave.
As long as they participated, if they got the Build a Country reward, it would all be worth it.
After all, players could respawn after dying. At most, they’d lose a few items or pieces of equipment—which was a price they could live with.
Even so, after dying and reviving, most players didn’t rejoin the battle. Instead, they watched from a distance.
They’d already done their part, so it counted as participating.
Most importantly, they just couldn’t stand up to these Mechanical Monsters. Their help was pretty much zero, so they pinned their hopes on Johnnie and the Chinese City soldiers to withstand the assault.

Thunderous booms kept ringing out around the city as more and more soldiers were killed.
Thankfully, the Four Holy Guardians Array was holding up, blocking the attack of the Beast Wave.
But Johnnie was under even more pressure now, with more and more Mechanical Monsters focusing on him and swarming his way.
Countless energy cannons rained down, each hit dealing almost ten thousand damage.
Even worse, his lifesteal attribute wasn’t triggering at all. With only basic health regeneration, there was no way he could offset the damage from the Mechanical Monsters.
"Damn it!"
Johnnie cursed, his gaze landing on the Demonic Creatures army that was also being slaughtered by the Mechanical Monsters.
Killing these guys could trigger his lifesteal effect, and at the same time, he could get free attribute points and stack the Cosmic Eclipse Blade’s passive.
Demonic Creatures and Mechanical Monsters were both being slaughtered by him nonstop.
Crack!
Suddenly, a faint cracking sound was heard.
Johnnie was momentarily stunned. He noticed that a Mechanical Monster he’d attacked with his flying sword now had a crack in its body.
He hadn’t hit the weak spot on its chest or head.
So the Mechanical Monster’s body wasn’t indestructible after all—it was just that his damage wasn’t high enough!
Johnnie’s eyes lit up. He saw hope.
At this point, his Cosmic Eclipse Blade’s passive damage was stacked over a thousand times, which meant he could deal close to three hundred million damage in one hit—barely enough to destroy the mechanical body.
These Mechanical Monsters had insane defense!
Johnnie was stunned. It seemed like only a god-tier powerhouse could destroy them.
He couldn’t help glancing at the other side of the battlefield.
Azure Dragon, Black Tortoise, and Maiev were fighting that enormous mech.
With three of them working together, they were barely managing to suppress the giant.
But the strength it was showing was only stage 9. Even a stage 9 legendary powerhouse shouldn’t be a match for a god.
The Mechanical Race couldn’t be measured using the Universe Continent’s power scale—these things were just too terrifying.
Boom!
A blast went off beside him as an energy cannon exploded.
Johnnie snapped back to reality and kept fighting the Mechanical Monsters.
With his Cosmic Eclipse Blade’s passive stacking up, he could finally threaten these mechanical bodies, and the pressure on him eased a bit.
Time ticked by, and in just a bit it would be twelve hours—the end of the Beast Wave attack.
Johnnie felt a glimmer of hope.
But nothing was set in stone. These Mechanical Monsters probably weren’t part of the Beast Wave, so even when it ended, they might not retreat.
"Johnnie, watch out! More enemies are coming!" Azure Dragon’s serious voice came through.
Johnnie’s brows furrowed. He quickly cleared out the Mechanical Monsters around him, then flew into the air with Flying Sword Control.
In the pitch-black night, he saw another army appear in the distance.
The Demon race!
He recognized them—they were the Demon race that had once colluded with the Doe Family.
The Demon race was nothing to sneeze at. They weren’t quite as strong as the Mechanical Race, but they were still out of the current players’ league.
Luckily, there weren’t that many—only about a hundred thousand.
Johnnie glanced at the battlefield. The soldiers had suffered heavy losses, but with the Four Holy Guardians Array in place, the monsters from the Mechanical Race couldn’t threaten the city.
Relieved, he left the battlefield and charged straight toward the Demon race.
The Demon race acted more like players, and they even had the ability to resurrect on the spot.
A bit tricky, sure—but for Johnnie, it was a good thing. He could slaughter them over and over to stack up his Cosmic Eclipse Blade’s passive.
He flew in fast and got a good look at their leader—it was actually someone he knew.
It was Lucius, the stage 9 powerhouse who had helped the Doe Family defend the city.
Lucius raised his hand slightly, and the army halted. He looked at Johnnie and said, "Johnnie, I don’t want to be your enemy. How about we talk?"
Johnnie looked at the hundred thousand-strong Demon race army and replied coldly, "That’s a funny way of showing you want to talk."
Lucius said, "Our Demon race can help you, or we can help the Mechanical Race. It’s up to you."
"Alright, let’s hear it." Johnnie didn’t attack right away. Instead, he summoned the Red Carp and kept attacking to make sure he stayed in combat.
Lucius knew some of his abilities, so he wasn’t surprised. He continued, "If your Montemar Empire joins the Demon race faction, I’ll help you fight off the Mechanical Race. The Demon race has special abilities—we can easily destroy the Mechanical Race’s core."
Is he talking about attacking through a wall?
Johnnie was a little curious. He could tell—the Mechanical Race’s weakness was obvious. Their mechanical core wasn’t strong. If you could break through the shell, destroying the core was easy.
But those shells had insane defense. It took over three hundred million damage from him just to barely break through.
