Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Stellar City, The Lord of the City – Grayden

Crysic hadn’t even had the Stone of Comprehension of the Way of the Sword to help her, and yet, in such a short time, she was almost reaching The Realm of the Sword’s Heart.

It seems she has quite a talent for The Way of the Sword.

"Johnnie guru, and me too. I’ve already reached The State of Sword Mind, and I’m currently pushing into the Sword Spirit Realm." Bellina said, her face full of excitement.

Johnnie opened his mouth, unsure of what to say.

He hadn’t even broken through the Sword Spirit Realm yet, and now Bellina might be ahead of him.

"Keep it up." he said, encouragingly. After Dylan and the others entered, he immediately started the Sword Immortal advancement trial.

Johnnie saw there was nothing more for him to do here, so he gave Crysic a few words of advice before leaving The Secret Realm of the Sword Tomb and heading to Stellar City to complete the mission from Gaia, the Lord of the City.

He returned to Twin Cranes City, hopped onto the Teleportation Array, and arrived directly in Stellar City.

Stellar City was a level 4 city, with stage 5 monsters all around the outside.

Inside the city, there were many players, most of them at stage 4, late or stage 5, which made them some of the top players in the game.

Johnnie had been stuck at stage 5, level 1 for a long time, and many players had now caught up with him.

This gave other factions hope, thinking that Johnnie was only strong in the early game, and that he had fallen behind as the game evolved.

Still, many people believed he was just stuck on some special tasks.

After all, Johnnie’s performance had left a deep impression, especially when he single-handedly held back the Beast Wave army during the establishment of The Chinese City.

...

Johnnie didn’t care about any of the rumors. Even though he was stuck at stage 5, level 1, he was still an unbeatable force.

No one except a few strong people from the Universe Continent could stand against him.

Johnnie didn’t want to waste time, so he walked confidently toward the city governor’s residence.

"Stop!" Two guards from the city governor’s residence blocked his way. They were both at stage 5, level 10.

They stared at Johnnie and coldly said."The city governor’s residence is a restricted area. Players are not allowed to approach."

"I’m Johnnie. I want to see Grayden." he said without making a scene, clearly stating his purpose.

"Johnnie?" The two exchanged a look, their expressions shocked. Johnnie had made such a big noise, so they had definitely heard of him.

One of them said."Wait a moment, I’ll inform him right away."

He said that and immediately ran off.

The other soldier remained blocking the door, his expression cautious.

Johnnie didn’t rush to act. He just waited calmly.

Not long after, the soldier returned and said."Master Grayden has agreed to see you. Please follow me."

He made a gesture of invitation and led Johnnie into the city governor’s residence.

The city governor’s residence of a level 4 city was vast, but there weren’t many decorations or furnishings.

Johnnie looked around curiously. The trees and rock formations gave a sense of quiet and peace.

The soldier led him directly to the back garden of the city governor’s residence.

Here, the artificial hills and ponds made it even more tranquil.

Yet the soldier seemed a bit uneasy, constantly watching his surroundings and quickening his pace toward a pavilion a short distance away.

"Master, there’s a strong suppressing force here that I cannot penetrate. Be careful." Maiev’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

A strong suppressing force?

Johnnie was puzzled, but he didn’t ask further. At his current strength, killing Grayden would be easy.

In the pavilion, a thin old man stood by the railing, feeding fish in the lake.

This man was the lord of Stellar City, Grayden.

Stage 7, Legendary!

Johnnie sensed his cultivation, and was slightly surprised. He had thought Grayden was only at the peak of Stage 6, Legendary, but it turned out he was a Stage 7 powerhouse.

Still, it was nothing for Johnnie.

"Johnnie, I’ve heard a lot about you." Grayden greeted him with a smile and waved his hand, signaling the soldier to leave.

The man bowed and quickly left the area.

Johnnie felt a bit puzzled. It was as if there were monsters here that wanted to eat people.

Was he afraid of this Grayden?

Johnnie observed him closely. His body was thin, but his spirit was sharp. He didn’t look like a cruel or wicked person at all.

Seeing that Johnnie was silent, Grayden continued."Are you here to take a mission from me? But I don’t have any suitable missions for you."

"No." Johnnie shook his head and got straight to the point. "I received a mission. Someone wants to kill you."

"Kill me?" Grayden paused for a moment while feeding the fish, then looked at Johnnie. His expression didn’t show much fear at all as he asked."Who dared to attack me? Can you tell me who it is?"

His expression returned to normal, and he continued feeding the fish in the lake.

Johnnie didn’t hide anything and said."It was The Lord of the Astral City, Gaia. He seems to be trying to Build a Country and is afraid you’ll interfere. He gave me a mission."

"Gaia, that guy really has big ambitions." Grayden said without being surprised. He continued."I’m curious, what reward did he give you?"

"A piece of the Map of Heaven and Earth, and the Fossil of Creation on you." Johnnie said calmly, watching Grayden’s reaction.

"A piece of the Map of Heaven and Earth?" He let out a cold laugh and said."Johnnie, you’re an adventurer, strong in battle, but you’re out of the loop. Don’t be taken advantage of by others."

"Oh, what do you mean?" Johnnie asked, puzzled. But from the other’s reaction, he was sure that Grayden had the Fossil of Creation.

Grayden threw the last of the fish food, brushed the dust from his hands, and walked into the pavilion. He pointed to a stone bench beside him and said."Gaia wants to Build a Country. I won’t stop him. He sent you to kill me for another reason."

"Continue." Johnnie sat down. He didn’t believe a word Grayden said, but he wasn’t in a hurry to act.

Grayden asked."Do you know what’s outside Stellar City?"

"Yes, the Land of Confusion." he replied. He had some knowledge of the Land of Confusion. It was home to various races and filled with powerful beings. In the previous life, the Land of Confusion wasn’t fully opened until the later stages of the game, and it brought a lot of disasters to the Universe Continent.

Grayden nodded and continued."You probably don’t understand the Land of Confusion well enough. It’s sealed off from several powerful races, and my job is to guard the Land of Confusion. If the seal is broken, the Universe Continent will face a catastrophe." freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Johnnie frowned."So you’re saying Gaia has teamed up with the strong ones from the Land of Confusion?"

"It’s very likely. Otherwise, why would he send you to take me out? If I die, the city will fall into chaos, and then the demons from the Land of Confusion will invade. The Universe Continent will be destroyed. Johnnie, you can’t let that bastard use you." Grayden said seriously.

"Is that so?" Johnnie didn’t fully believe him, and said coldly."Even if you’re telling the truth, I still have to complete this mission. Gaia gave me a good reward. But don’t worry, if the demons from the Land of Confusion really invade, I’ll find a way to stop it."

He stood up, ready to attack Grayden.

"Wait." Grayden quickly stopped him. "I don’t know what Gaia offered you, but I think we can make a deal."

"Deal? You want me to kill Gaia?" Johnnie guessed his intention.

Grayden nodded."Exactly. You’re after the Fossil of Creation on me, right? If you kill Gaia, I’ll give you two Fossils of Creation."

Johnnie didn’t move."I could get it from you anyway. Plus, he gave me the information about a piece of the Map of Heaven and Earth. And most importantly, if I don’t complete the mission, I’ll get a punishment."

"The Map of Heaven and Earth fragment? He’s trying to get you killed." Grayden said coldly. "I also know about that piece of the Map of Heaven and Earth. It’s in the Land of Confusion. With your current strength, entering there would be certain death."

"In the Land of Confusion? Are you sure the information you have is the same as Gaia’s?" Johnnie asked suspiciously.

"Positive." Grayden nodded firmly. "It’s not a secret to us, the lords of the city. And I can tell you the exact location right now. When you reach Stage 7 or higher, I’ll open a seal and let you go in. As for the mission punishment, killing Gaia will cancel it."

[Ding, The Lord of Stellar City has issued a mission to you: Kill the Lord of the Astral City, Gaia. Reward: 2 Fossils of Creation, information about a piece of the Map of Heaven and Earth. Accept? ]

The prompt appeared.

Johnnie didn’t accept immediately. The reward was the same as Gaia’s, and there was no point in wasting time going back and forth.

He said."I’m a man of my word. Since I accepted Gaia’s commission, I won’t back out halfway."

Grayden smiled faintly and raised two fingers."Two pieces of information about the Map of Heaven and Earth. One of them is right here in the Universe Continent. You can explore it with your current power."

"Alright, deal!" Johnnie didn’t hesitate at all. He waited for the mission prompt to change and then chose to accept.

Grayden smiled and continued."Johnnie, you made the right choice. I think we can continue working together in the future, like taking over the Land of Confusion."

Taking over the Land of Confusion?

Johnnie frowned. This guy’s ambition was even bigger than Gaia’s.

The Land of Confusion was vast, even more than the Universe Continent, and filled with powerful beings. It was definitely not something a Stage 7 powerhouse could even touch.

"Okay, then let’s wish us good luck with our cooperation." Johnnie said, and after accepting the mission, he said his goodbyes and left.

Grayden smiled and nodded. Only after Johnnie left did his smile disappear, and his expression turned dark and deep.

"Why didn’t you let me kill him?" A low, hoarse voice suddenly came from the lake. The water stirred, and a massive whirlpool appeared. The fish that were feeding were instantly swallowed.

Grayden leaned on the railing and said calmly."He’s a player. You can’t kill him. If our relationship is exposed, it will be bad for the next steps."

"Then we could just trap him in the Land of Confusion." the low voice continued.

Grayden shook his head."What’s in it for us? It’s better to let this guy stir up trouble in the Universe Continent. That’s more beneficial to us."
