One Useless Rebirth-Chapter 208: Riding on His Coattails (1)
Translator: Sissy That Walk
In the end of April, was nearly half finished, they had officially entered the early stage of publicity, He Bai was invited by the crew to shoot their posters.
This job was not particularly hard thanks to his shooting experience for ’s Army>, plus Di Qiuhe was the male lead, the two always had chemistry, it only took him a day to finish the job which was scheduled for two days.
“Someone from a museum gave you a hard time?”
Di Qiuhe took him to the best restaurant nearby, he asked He Bai while he was serving him some tea.
“You heard it from Junjie?” He Bai drew the snacks plate near to him, he served Di Qiuhe a pistachio, then he had one himself, “Not exactly a hard time, he just questioned about my ability with a bad attitude, that’s all.”
Di Qiuhe served him the cutlery and he frowned harder, “You did the right thing, no way you are going to work with them, not with that attitude he was showing, don’t worry, I have some contacts, will find you a better museum.”
“No.” He Bai shook his head and he flipped Di Qiuhe’s forehead, “I don’t want anyone to archive that photo, let’s keep it ourselves, the photo wall on the third floor at home is half empty.”
Di Qiuhe caught hold of He Bai’s hand and he was about to say something when the waitress knocked on the door, and there came their dishes.
The two let go of each other’s hand and He Bai dived in, while Di Qiuhe was fidgeting, he did not enjoy the food, he kept staring at He Bai like he had something to say.
They ordered fresh juice as dessert after the feast.
Di Qiuhe threw himself at He Bai and grabbed his hand.
A piece of tofu fell off from He Bai’s chopsticks.
He Bai rolled his eyes.
“Puppy, puppy, why aren’t you letting anyone archive my photo? Because you want to archive it yourself, you don’t want anyone to have my photo but you?” Di Qiuhe asked desperately, his eyes were sparkling.
He Bai gave him a sideways look, and replied coldly, “No, I don’t want the kids in the museum feel scared by your photo.”
“Puppy, good kids don’t lie.” replied Di Qiuhe.
“Childish Di, good kids don’t waste food.”
Di Qiuhe looked at the table, he saw the tofu, and he made a face, “I’m not as important as a piece of tofu in your eyes?”
He Bai served Di Qiuhe a piece of pancake and stuffed it into his mouth, he said in a cold tone, “Behave yourself! Come eat your food, we are apart for one day and you are running wild now.”
“A lot of days… …” Di Qiuhe retorted in a low voice.
He Bai pulled his ace card, “Sigh, now that I’ve finished work, I might as well leave tonight.”
“No way!” Di Qiuhe grabbed him with his long arm, then he used the other hand to draw the plate closer, “Here, have the whole plate, you can’t just leave tonight!” then he added, acting all serious, “and you can have all of me, all you can eat.”
“Hmm, where are your abs, has someone gained some weight?” He Bai teased him and he sighed, “I only want to eat fresh meat.”
Di Qiuhe’s body turned stiff, he let go of He Bai, then he straightened his clothes and sat straight. With it he began to eat properly.
He Bai smiled on seeing him finally start to eat, he served him a piece of ribs, patting his head.
He Bai returned to school the next day.
He was grabbed by Niu Junjie on entering the dormitory, he got rid of Junjie promptly, “Wait, don’t shake me again.” then he stepped back for several steps, “Okay, now you can talk to me.”
Niu Junjie withdrew his hands, he was now way less excited by He Bai’s reaction, “There are some rumors spreading on campus, people begin to talk nonsense like you are turning down the museum because you don’t think it’s good enough for you, and you only want to work with overseas museums. Some students started to accuse you of worshiping things foreign and fawning on foreign countries, and you are clearly biting off more than you can chew.”
Chenjie also turned around from his table, he adjusted his glasses and added, “The president of the photography club posted something like your personality doesn’t match your photography skills, the only reason you have some accomplishments now is because you have a good supervisor, you always ask your supervisor to train you after class, which is a burden to your supervisor, Professor Xu. He says you are arrogant and cocky, there are a lot of comments saying that’s true, but they all chose to be anonymous.”
Wang Hu clicked on the mouse and added what he had got, “There are some people posting things like you are ungrateful to our school, you leave all support you have got from school behind, you did not even think about giving back now that you had some accomplishments, yet you asked for more from the school. And they even slandered you, they said the only reason you agreed to attend this Art Festival was because the counsellor had promised you something in the certificates exams in the first place.”
“There are even more outrageous posts saying you were able to rank the first in the quarter-final all thanks to Di Qiuhe, you were riding on his coattails. There are other contenders from our university too, but they are all very low key, and you hired paid posters online to create hype for yourself.” Niu Junjie sneered, “Listen to them, they are making up stories like they believed it was real, to put everything in a nutshell, they were all jealous, I bet this has something to do with the curator of that museum.”
He Bai was dumbfounded, he asked with disbelief, “Let’s leave everything else for now, how would anyone believe the counsellor had promised me something in the certificates exams? How foolish are they?”
No one could meddle in certificates exams which were supervised by the third party.
That was some bullshit posts, and people bought it?! And which president of the photography club?
“Well, not many people believe that.” replied Chen Jie.
“But we have to say there are a lot of people who are genuinely jealous of you.” Niu Junjie rubbed his chin and continued, “It used to be all right, but it became kind of severe since you bought a house and commuted by car, hired a driver and a bunch of assistants.”
Wang Hu took a glimpse at the brand new lenses on He Bai’s table, and he sighed, “Plus now you are able to have all those equipment, no wonder there are people have turned green with envy.”
Chen Jie added, “We know you are low-key, but haters are always going to be haters.”
He Bai was speechless.
Niu Junjie shrugged, “So, have you got a plan?”
