Chapter 111 - That’s a ripoff!

The shop owner stood from his stool and crouched over the counter, picking up one of the blades. He turned it over in his hands, humming.

"They're older and well-used," he noted, squeezing the handle. "The tempering shows they were cooled in salt water as it was forged, suggesting Fishman origins. And they've been freshly polished, even if they have some wear. I'd price each at 25,000."

"You know your stuff, old man," Zoro nodded, Tashigi's eyes widening at the information of the swords' origins.

"Where'd you get Fishman swords?" she asked. And that made all of them blink.

"We ran into a small patrol of them," the swordsman lied.

"Yeah... They climbed onto our ship to attack us, but we managed to fight them off." Coby added.

"You must be a strong fighter to do that," the woman praised with a nod. All of them internally sighed that she bought the story.

"Th-That blade," the shop owner swallowed, a shaking finger pointing at the Sword at Zoro's belt. Akaiittou Nozarashi. "Th-That's a nice blade. Certainly, a higher quality than these. I can give you 200,000 for it. What do you say?"

"No," Zoro answered simply.

"You push a mean bargain. 300,000!"

"It's not for sale."

"600,000, final offer!"

"I'm not selling it."

"750,000, then! I need it!"

"Is that what I think it is?" Tashigi interrupted. But then she shook her head, "No even though it looks like the Nozarashi... it's not."

"Of course, it's not the Nozarashi... that blade is no more." The shopkeeper said, "but that might be one of the best clones out there... which swordsmith did you get it from? It looks new. How long have you been using it?"

"Sorry, not for sale." Zoro cleared.

"Come on, I just want to know."

"That also includes the info."

The sword shop owner clinked his tongue, but nodded anyways. "Oh, whatever," the owner waved, disheartened. "I gave you the offer for the used swords. Between that and the 200,000, that gives you 300,000 to work with. The cheapest stuff I have to offer are the swords in the barrels over there. 50,000 each."

"But if those are the cheapest you have, why are you giving us half that for the swords we brought?" Coby questioned.

"That's a ripoff!" Johnny and Yosaku said at the same time.

"I need to make money, young man," the man shot back. "Plus, they're old. They've probably only got another couple years' use unless you've got a blacksmith to reforge them, and for these, you'd need to go to Fishman Island in the Grand Line. I sure as Hell aren't. Take it or leave it."

"We'll take it," Zoro responded, cutting off Coby's sharp reply. "Hey, start looking."

"But-!" Zoro turned, giving Coby a look. "Fine..."

"Um, if I may, why do you need three swords?" Tashigi asked. "The only person I know of who would carry that many would be the bounty hunter Roronoa Zoro." She spat the name as if it burned her tongue. "Is he an idol of yours or something?" The three of them looked between Zoro and Tashigi.

"You could say that," the swordsman shrugged, not amused. Tashigi's nose crinkled in distaste. "I frequently break swords because I can't afford ones that can stand up to my strength."

"Now that's ridiculous," the woman replied. "I don't mean to offend you, but you'd have to be inhumanly strong for that. That or you have to always have bad blades you don't care for."

Zoro turned to glare at the black-haired woman, but it was Coby that cut him off this time.

"It sounds like you don't like him. Roronoa, I mean. Have you met him before?" Coby said, getting things off tension before Zoro says something unwanted.

"I don't need to," Tashigi sniffed. "He's a bounty hunter who kills people for money. Anyone who does that can't be called a true swordman. The only things worse than a bounty hunter are the pirates they hunt."

"Oh, so you are saying being a marine is better than them?" Coby asked innocently.

"Of course."

"Yeah, sorry miss... but either you are completely delusional or stupid. I hope it's not the latter. Marine being justice is a dream that you are only able to see while you are asleep..." Coby replied, making all of them look at him. "Wake up and try to see things for what they are. I see marines as nothing more than the watchdogs of the world nobles that call themselves god and commit horrifying deeds." Coby said in a flat tone, but there were some heat in his voice.

More so after when the crew found out that the World Goverment was trying to use bounty hunters to cut down Luffy. And with what he found out after joining the crew Coby wasn't a fan of those men.

"Tha..." but before Tashigi could say anything Zoro bonked Coby on the head.

"I hope you don't mind... he has had a rather bad experience with the marines, the poor boy wanted to be one you see. But now, he's better working as a merchant with us, rather then running around the sea hunting down pirates." Zoro said, making up lies before the girl could question otherwise.

Still, Zoro just unintentionally said that being a merchant was better than being a marine.

But it seems that Coby's word left a mark on the Kuina lookalike. "Well, not all marines are bad..." she said softly before turning around and looking through catalogs of swords to keep herself busy.

But her mind was still echoing Coby's words. It was given that not everything the boy said was wrong... but still.

Now that the girl was busy in her own head the rest of the straw hat pirates scattered around the shop to find their weapons.
