Chapter 241 - Don't Misunderstand, I Just Want to Cut You!

Sabaody, Island 31.

The earth was ripped apart, leaving huge, jagged cracks. You could glimpse the ocean far below, its surface slowly turning to ice.

"Damn, that attack was brutal!"

Aokiji struggled out of a fissure, a thin trail of blood trickling down his cheek. The way he looked at Roya had completely changed; gone was any hint of casual disregard.

He'd heard tales of Roya's strength, yes, but he hadn't truly believed them. He hadn't taken the fight seriously enough and had paid the price, caught completely off guard.

Now, Aokiji understood. If he wanted to defeat Roya, he would have to unleash his full power. No more holding back.

"Aokiji, my friend, I have an idea."

Roya's gaze locked onto Aokiji. "Since you don't want to join me in getting rid of Akainu, how about this: you resign as Admiral. Then I'll take your place, become an Admiral, and work under Akainu. What do you say?"

"..."

Aokiji's face clouded over, his expression darkening.

He couldn't understand Roya's game. Why would he try to work with him, only to then suggest he abandon his position and side with Akainu? It was all so confusing.

What's his real aim? What is he really after? The uncertainty made it impossible to figure out Roya's true plan.

"Roya, what is your purpose here?!"

"Purpose?"

Roya grinned, pointing towards the heavens.

"It's about the same as yours."

"Could it be!"

Aokiji was visibly shaken.

Ever since the tragic events at Ohara, he'd begun to question the World Government's idea of justice.

Twenty years had passed, and the more he learned, the more he realized the World Government was not just. But he felt powerless to change anything, which was why he was the way he was.

Is Roya the same?

No, this guy wasn't just questioning the World Government; Aokiji could sense the terrifying ambition that burned within him.

"Enough talk, let's fight!"

Roya unsheathed his sword, the blade gleaming in the light.

As far as he was concerned, the three Admirals were all the same. He was willing to work with any of them. His first step was to become a Marine Admiral, then he'd consider what came next.

Besides, it didn't really matter who became Marshal. He wanted to replace the Celestial Dragons, which went against the very reason the Marines existed. Many, many people would die as a result.

Even if Aokiji became Marshal, he couldn't just stand by and let him do whatever he wanted.

"Watch out, Aokiji!"

A dangerous smile spread across Roya's face. Using his Observation Haki, he locked onto Aokiji. His body tensed, and with a sizzling sound, he vanished.

The shining blade appeared right in front of Aokiji's eyes!

"So fast! Just as I expected!"

Aokiji was stunned, but this time he was ready. He quickly raised his right arm to block, a layer of ice rapidly forming across its surface.

"Clang!"

The blade struck the ice!

Immediately, the ice froze the blade and began spreading towards Roya's arm.

The power of a Logia-type wasn't just controlling natural elements; they themselves were those elements, especially dangerous ones like ice and fire.

Touching them was like touching raw danger!

Bright arcs of electricity crackled around Roya's body.

"Sizzle!!!"

With an ear-splitting crackle, the ice shattered, and dozens of electric arcs spread outward, engulfing the area!

Aokiji sensed the danger and quickly jumped back, but the spreading electricity still caught him.

His entire body went numb!

"It's... lightning!"

Aokiji exclaimed in disbelief.

He finally understood how Roya could face him with such confidence. With his lightning powers, Roya truly possessed the strength to match an Admiral!

Even among the powerful Logia types, lightning was one of the best, easily as strong as the powers of the three Admirals.

He used ice to weaken the lightning, huh?

Roya studied Aokiji. A thin layer of ice coated his skin, protecting him from the full force of the electricity.

But that didn't matter; he hadn't planned on winning with just electrocution.

"Here I come!"

Roya stepped forward, his body instantly transforming into a bolt of lightning, placing him right next to Aokiji. His speed was faster than any physical technique.

"Clang!"

The ice blade clashed with the other blade!

Aokiji didn't hesitate; the moisture in the air quickly condensed.

"Ice Spears!"

Two spears of ice shot towards Roya.

"Too slow."

A smile played on Roya's lips. With a flash of lightning, he seemed to teleport behind Aokiji, his blade aimed at Aokiji's kidneys.

Unlike light, lightning could move in a curved path. It wasn't as fast as light, but it was much more flexible.

But even the fastest speed had its limits.

Because of the speed of his nervous system, it took Roya about 0.001 seconds to complete his movement and adjust to the change in space. That tiny bit of time, plus the time it took to attack, gave his opponent a chance to react.

Aokiji sensed the attack from behind, and a wall of ice erupted from the ground.

But a blade flashing with lightning appeared right in front of his eyes!

Roya had changed his attack again!

Aokiji didn't have time to react. The tip of the sword pierced his abdomen. Even with his Haki defense, blood gushed out.

"Damn it!"

Blood trickled from the corner of Aokiji's mouth. Cones of ice shot up from beneath his feet, forcing Roya back. The wound on his waist quickly froze, stopping the bleeding.

This was the first time he'd fought a lightning user, and he was having trouble adjusting.

"Sizzle..."

All he could hear was the sound of electricity.

Aokiji looked up, his eyes widening.

Countless sparks of lightning filled the air around him, surrounding him like a beautiful, starry sky.

Roya raised his blade, leaving behind a trail of afterimages as he walked.

"This starry sky has a hundred lightning cores, all connected. Basically, I can move freely between them."

"Oh, and these afterimages aren't just illusions created by speed. They're Lightning Clones with minds of their own!"

Lightning Clones!

He was using lightning to create clones and replicating his brainwaves into them, giving them the same thoughts and fighting skills he had until their energy ran out.

Roya walked towards Aokiji.

"Lightning Punishment: Hundred Shadow Circulation!"

In an instant, countless Royas appeared from every direction, charging at Aokiji and attacking almost at the same time!

"Pfft!"

Aokiji held his arms up, Armament Haki covering nearly his entire body, but bloody gashes kept appearing. He was quickly turning into a bloody mess.

He wanted to fight back, but he couldn't figure out which Roya was the real one. The energy coming from each afterimage was almost exactly the same.

What's going on?

Observation Haki was useless. It seemed like every Roya was real, and their attacks were really hurting him, but that couldn't be possible. There had to be only one real body.

"Pfft!"

His back and arm burned at the same time, and blood splattered on the ground!

Aokiji gritted his teeth, trying to come up with a plan.

The only thing he was thankful for was that Roya's attacks were so fast that they weren't powerful enough to break through his Haki. But he was still being slashed hundreds of times a second.

It was like being slowly tortured to death!

If he couldn't find the real Roya, he'd just have to destroy all of them, destroy the entire starry sky made of lightning!

"Ice: Giant Sea Urchin!"

"Boom!!!"

A giant sea urchin hundreds of meters tall appeared in the center of the island, its body covered in ice spikes that destroyed everything around it.

Roya landed on one of the ice spikes, breathing out a plume of mist. Goosebumps popped up on his skin.

"Hiss, so cold!"

He rubbed his arms.

He had a big speed advantage when fighting Aokiji. It was one of his greatest strengths, but he couldn't let his guard down.

The temperature was dropping fast, far below freezing. And as the fight went on, it kept getting colder.

If it dropped below -50 degrees, his body would definitely freeze up, and his mind would slow down, giving him away.

"Roya!"

Aokiji emerged from the ice. Even though he was covered in wounds, he still seemed strong. His eyes were still sharp.

"Your lightning power isn't just this, right?"

"Of course not."

Roya grinned.

"Aokiji, my friend, I'm just enjoying cutting you!"
