One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 210: The Revolutionary Army’s Scheme
Chapter 210 - The Revolutionary Army's Scheme
In the manor's beautiful garden, Yamato and Kaya were chatting. Before long, the conversation drifted to Roya.
"Really? You like Roya too?" Yamato asked, her eyes wide with genuine surprise. She saw Kaya's rosy cheeks but didn't grasp the romantic feelings. Instead, she beamed, "I super love Roya too!"
"Ah?" Kaya blinked, a little surprised. Seeing Yamato's pure excitement, she couldn't feel jealous. She sensed only Yamato's happiness, as if she was sharing her own.
Kaya smoothed her hair and bit her lip. "Yamato-neechan, can you tell me about Roya?"
"Sure, sure!" Yamato nodded enthusiastically, like a little bird pecking at seeds. "Where should I start? Ah, I'll tell you everything!"
And so, Yamato began her story, starting with their meeting in Wano Country, their journey into the perilous Depths of the New World, and all the adventures they faced after returning to the Marine Branch. Yamato spoke with joyful detail. Even eating with Roya was a fun story, and she was thrilled to finally have someone to share these happy memories with.
She had been so lonely at the Marine Branch.
Kaya listened quietly, playing the perfect audience. When Yamato shared funny anecdotes, Kaya couldn't help but smile, understandingly. But when Yamato spoke of Roya facing danger, Kaya nervously clutched her clothes, her breath catching in her throat.
So, Roya-niichan has been through so much.
She also began to understand Yamato's feelings for Roya. It wasn't quite romantic love, but more like a deep trust and reliance, a comforting sense of security that filled Yamato whenever she spoke of him.
This Yamato-neechan is pretty easy to understand.
"What about me?" Kaya wondered to herself.
She realized, with a jolt, that she barely knew Roya at all, a thought that left her feeling flustered. The perfect Roya-niichan she held in her heart suddenly seemed so distant.
She longed to be by Roya-niichan's side like Yamato-neechan, but she lacked fighting skills, and her body was too frail. She feared becoming a burden.
Kaya, you have to try harder, or Roya-niichan will be snatched away!
Kaya tried to encourage herself, but her spirit quickly sagged. "Roya-niichan is so amazing, so many people must like him. I can't do anything, I'm so useless."
The young girl grew more and more downcast.
She was just a simple country girl, how could she ever compete?
"Hey, Kaya," Yamato said, her eyes twinkling. "You were really amazing just now! That dandelion trick was like magic!"
"Ah, was I?" Kaya asked, surprised.
"Super amazing!" Yamato nodded enthusiastically. "The others at the Branch often get hurt. If you were around, they wouldn't suffer so much!"
"Thank you, Yamato!" Kaya's eyes brightened a little.
Maybe she could go to the Marine and become a Doctor!

Meanwhile, inside the manor, in the formal reception room, Mr. Syrup, sensing the mood, excused himself, leaving Roya alone with the members of the Revolutionary Army.
Roya settled onto the sofa, his gaze sweeping over the group, finally settling on the beautiful woman leading them, her clothing rather revealing.
Her scant attire is quite pleasing to the eye.
"Not long ago, I heard the Revolutionary Army finally filled their long-vacant position of East Army Captain. You're the new East Army Captain, correct?"
"That's right, it's me!" Betty confirmed, a cigarette dangling from her lips. She raised a hand to adjust her goggles, her serious gaze locked on Roya, as if trying to see what made him tick.
Rumor said that Black Hair was an incredibly strong monster, and now she believed it. Normal Marines didn't possess such a terrifying aura. Just looking at him made the hairs on her arms stand up.
"Vice Admiral Black Hair, are you here to arrest us?"
"Unfortunately, I'm on vacation, so I have no plans to arrest you. Meeting you here is purely coincidental," Roya said with a shrug. "But since we've met, it wouldn't feel right to simply let you leave. After all, I am a Marine, and the Syrup couple are my friends."
"Tell me, what is your purpose in coming here? Depending on your answer, I will decide how to treat you." If he hadn't returned, the Syrup couple wouldn't have survived much longer. The Revolutionary Army showing up at this moment made it hard for him not to be suspicious of their motives.
While the Revolutionary Army had a good reputation, their recruitment was not selective. It included many pirates and others of questionable character, and they were desperately poor.
When basic needs aren't met, it's hard for people not to have questionable motivations.
"East Army Captain Betty!" The warriors behind her stepped forward, drawing their swords, glaring at Roya. How could they reveal the Revolutionary Army's plans to a Marine so easily?
"Calm down, stand back," Betty said softly, stopping her subordinate's aggressive behavior. Ever since Roya appeared, she had been trying to assess their chances in a fight.
The answer was impossible to predict.
But one thing she knew for sure: the Vice Admiral Black Hair before her possessed the power to kill them all!
Betty fought down her unease and said calmly, "We came to Mr. Syrup seeking financial and material support. We have no other intentions."
"I see," Roya said, nodding slightly.
That's certainly the Revolutionary Army's style.
The Revolutionary Army often lacked funds. In addition to robbing nobles and other means, seeking aid from wealthy people was one of their common tactics.
To put it bluntly, they were beggars.
Roya stroked his chin. Judging by Mr. Syrup's earlier behavior, there shouldn't be any issues, but glancing at the several Revolutionary Army ships docked at the port, he felt something was amiss.
Even begging had its rules.
From what he knew, the Revolutionary Army usually asked not for money, but for supplies. They had once resupplied at the Shimotsuki Dojo. Normally, they would only take enough to fill one ship, avoiding being too greedy, but there was more than one ship at the port, so they had clearly come prepared.
Even if the Kaya family was wealthy, they couldn't just keep fleecing them dry, right?
Roya's mind raced.
Nothing significant had happened recently, and the Four Seas were relatively stable, but a very important event was approaching for the Revolutionary Army.
The World Conference was about to begin!
At that time, all of the Marine's power would be focused on escorting royalty and protecting the Holy Land, leaving them with little energy to deal with the Revolutionary Army.
For them, the World Conference was the perfect time to launch a revolution, an opportunity that only came once every four years.
And war cost money!
Roya looked at Betty, his eyes gleaming with interest, and asked with certainty, "Which countries are you planning to overthrow during the World Conference?"
"Swish!" Betty's expression changed instantly.
The warriors behind her also drew their weapons, swords and pistols aimed at Roya's head, their palms sweating nervously.
"Looks like I guessed right," Roya said, raising an eyebrow.
I actually guessed right. Are the Revolutionary Army usually just messing around, but this time they are prepared to play big?
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang out!
Roya raised his hand, his index and middle fingers pinching the flying bullet. His cold gaze turned to the man behind Betty who had fired the shot.
Betty and her companions also turned to look.
"Joe!"
"Sorry, I... I flinched!" The man trembled, shaking his head frantically, his face pale. He really had been so nervous that his hand had slipped!
"Then I'll give it back to you!" Roya said coldly. With his fingers still pinching the bullet, he flicked his hand toward the man, instantly piercing his shoulder.
"Aaaaaah!" The man screamed, clutching his shoulder as he fell to the ground.
Betty's hand stopped in mid-air, a bloody hole in her palm. She had sensed Roya's attack but had failed to block the bullet.
Her Haki had been pierced!
"Army Commander Betty!"
"I'm fine, go take care of Joe!" Betty said, standing in front of her partner, her gaze extremely serious.
The brief clash of Haki had made Black Hair's strength clear to her. She couldn't defeat him with her power alone.
She had to find a way to notify Dragon!
Roya slowly stood up and approached Betty, looking down at her.
"Don't worry, I'm not interested in your Revolutionary Army's actions, and I won't tell the higher-ups about today's conversation."
"But I have a little suggestion. As the Revolutionary Army's new East Army Captain, you could act a little more assertive. Don't let people look down on you."
"Also, your sense of style is very good, I like it!"
With that, Roya patted the East Army Captain's shoulder and calmly walked toward the door, ignoring the few people who were on guard.
Betty couldn't help but turn her head back.
"Black Hair!"
Roya waved his hand without turning back.
