The New World, G-14 Branch.

A warship from the G-5 Branch sailed back into port.

Without wasting a second, Roya rushed Lu Yun to Egghead Island, carrying the massive 1.1 billion Beri research fund he'd snatched from the Golden City.

The rest will have to come later, in bits and pieces.

Vegapunk stared, jaw dropped, at the pink dragon kneeling before him. The scientist's massive forehead smacked against the cold ground.

"I knew it! A complete and utter failure!"

To anyone else, it might seem like just a slight difference in color. But to Vegapunk, that pink hue screamed deviation - a flaw in the very building blocks of his replica, a betrayal of the original Devil Fruit.

Failed. Utterly, hopelessly failed.

"Replicating a Mythical Zoan is even more of a headache than I thought," he muttered, pulling himself to his feet. No time to dwell on experimental flaws now. He'd have to shelve the "why" for later.

Too many projects clamored for his attention, like Roya's Transfer Ability experiment. The World Government was breathing down his neck about that one too.

But time was a cruel mistress, so projects were ranked, prioritized. By the standard schedule, Transfer Ability was twenty years out.

Unless ... Unless I get those clones up and running.

"Roya," Vegapunk said, "I'll get to it as soon as I can."

"Thank you, Doctor," Roya said, a sincere edge to his voice. "And please, keep this quiet."

Vegapunk nodded. "Understood." The Transfer Ability experiment was a powder keg, easily exploited. He shuddered at the thought of it unleashed on a grand scale.

Meanwhile, back at the G-14 Branch...

A warship from Marine Headquarters sliced through the waves, led by Vice Admiral Onigumo, a name whispered with dread, synonymous with ruthless, cold-blooded efficiency.

The G-5 Marines surged from their fortress, a tide of blue uniforms.

The revelation of Yamato's parentage - Kaido's daughter! - had rocked them. But time, shared battles, had forged a bond. To the Marines, Yamato was one of their own.

And the arrival of that Headquarters warship? It spelled one thing: arrest.

Unacceptable.

Onigumo, met by the G-5's defiant glares, icily produced the arrest warrant, holding it up for Smoker and the other officers to see.

"Kaido's daughter is hiding within the G-14 fortress! Arrest her, immediately!"

"Yes, sir!" barked the Marines behind him, ready to spring into action.

"White Blow!" Smoker roared.

In a churning cloud, smoke billowed, snaking around the harbor, binding the Headquarters Marines before they could even take a step.

Onigumo's eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger dancing within. The hair on his back writhed, coalescing into six extra arms. He drew the swords from his belt, a terrifying display.

Eight-Sword Style, ready to be unleashed.

"Rear Admiral Smoker," Onigumo's voice dripped with contempt, "this is an arrest warrant issued by Headquarters. Do you intend to defy orders?"

"Don't tell me what to do!" Smoker snapped, a nerve twitching in his jaw. "Not until Vice Admiral Roya returns. Nobody lays a hand on a Marine from the G-5 Branch!"

As if on cue, the G-5 Marines drew their weapons, a wall of steely resolve. An order from Smoker, and they'd fight tooth and nail, even against Marine Headquarters itself.

They might be a bunch of misfits, but they were Royal. That was the G-5's way of life.

"..."

Onigumo's face hardened, morphing into a demonic mask. He turned to Hina and the other officers, delivering a final ultimatum.

"Do you intend to defy Headquarters as well?"

"I'd rather not, but Hina is Vice Admiral Black Hair's subordinate now," Hina said, her voice steady.

"I haven't had to discipline a Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral yet!" Peacock chimed in, her tone as firm as her stance.

To back down now? They'd be pariahs, shunned by both sides. Nobody wants a fence-sitting subordinate.

Joining the G-5 meant sharing their fate, for better or for worse. They'd obey Headquarters' orders, but only after their commanding officer had arrived.

That was Marine responsibility, in its purest form.

"Behehehe, eight-armed freak!" Barto squeaked, brandishing his barrier like a shield. "Mess with us, and Roya Boss will tear you apart when he gets back!"

"..."

Onigumo shot Barto a chilling look, then pulled out a Den Den Mushi.

The G-5 was a force to be reckoned with. Their numbers might not match other branches, but they were more than one lone warship could handle.

He'd anticipated resistance, planned for it. He wasn't without backup.

"Brrr Brrr ~ ~"

A brief conversation, and then... chaos. Five Vice Admirals, a flood of Marines, swarmed from the G-14 Branch, surrounding the G-5. Warships, like steel predators, ringed the coast.

The numerical advantage had flipped in an instant.

The G-14 Fortress was a vital hub. Though still under construction, it housed a formidable force, far surpassing any standard G-series base, especially in the number of Vice Admirals stationed there.

"I want no part in this internal squabble," Doll said, a cigarette dangling from her lips, as she led her subordinates away from the brewing storm.

Onigumo had an arrest warrant, the backing of Admiral Akainu, the authority to conscript them.

But she refused to get involved. A slap on the wrist later was a small price to pay. Royalty, in her book, lay with the G-5.

What the other Vice Admirals did, however, was beyond her control.

The warship's cannons swivelled, aiming directly at the G-5 Marines on the coast.

"Hey, this is not good!" Barto whimpered, his face paling.

He knew his limits. His barrier could barely shield a hundred, maybe two. The G-5 numbered over two thousand.

Smoker's face was grim.

Outnumbered, outgunned, morale crumbling... They were facing annihilation.

Then, Onigumo picked up the amplified Den Den Mushi, and his voice boomed across the bay. "All gunners, target the coast! Commence bombardment in ten seconds!"

"What?!"

Horror twisted the faces of the G-5 Marines. Even Onigumo's own subordinates were reeling in disbelief.

"Vice Admiral, are you insane?" an officer shouted. "The G-5 Branch Marines are our colleagues!"

"Bang!"

The sharp crack of a gunshot echoed across the coast.

Everyone froze, staring in disbelief at Vice Admiral Onigumo, who had just shot his own officer.

Why?!

"The G-5 Branch is harboring criminals, defying Headquarters' orders!" Onigumo roared, his voice laced with venom. "They are now enemies of justice!"

"Hesitate for even a moment, and let those criminals escape? How will you live with yourselves? Don't underestimate justice!"

"Open fire!"

At his command, the warship cannons roared, spitting a torrent of shells towards the G-5 Marines huddled on the coast!

"Ahhh, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" Barto screamed, his voice cracking with terror. His barrier, a flimsy shield against such overwhelming power.

Smoker and Hina stood frozen, stunned. They hadn't believed Onigumo would actually dare to attack, to annihilate them all!

Then, a figure descended from the sky, a white-haired girl with eyes blazing with fury. "I cannot agree with anything you say!"

"Binding Ice Fang!"

A wave of icy breath swept across the coast, encasing the artillery shells in shimmering, frozen tombs!

"She finally appeared! Kaido's daughter!" Onigumo snarled, his eyes locked on Yamato. The troops behind him raised their rifles, loaded with specialized prison bullets.

Then, the sky darkened.

"Roar ~ ~ ~ ~"

A thunderous roar ripped through the air. Dark thunderclouds churned, and a colossal pink dragon emerged, two figures standing atop its head.

"Vice Admiral Black Hair is back!"

"Black Hair Boss!"

"Wuwuwu, you're finally back!"

The G-5 Marines erupted in cheers, relief flooding through their ranks. They had truly feared the end.

Roya raised a hand, pointing a finger directly at Onigumo, his eyes like shards of ice.

"All Marines of the G-5 Branch, listen up!"

"Kill that bastard for me!"

"Ooooh!!!" The G-5 Marines surged forward, a tide of fury unleashed.
