One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 142: Ace Arrives

Honeycomb Island, a place deep in the New World, was buzzing with life. This was the main turf of the legendary Whitebeard Pirates, one of the fearsome Four Emperors who ruled the seas.

Down at the port, the Moby Dick, Whitebeard's massive ship, was the center of a roaring victory party. The crew had just crushed a group of pirates who dared to challenge them, and now it was time to celebrate!

"Gura rā ra!" Whitebeard boomed, throwing back a huge gulp of wine. He couldn't always indulge like this because of his health; the ship's doctor usually kept a close eye on him, even limiting his sips. But tonight was special.

He held the latest newspaper in his hand, his eyes scanning the headlines.

"A powerful new kid is making waves!" he announced, his voice carrying over the music and laughter.

"Pops, you talking about Fire Fist Ace?" one of the division commanders asked. They were all sitting nearby, and Whitebeard's words immediately sparked their interest. It wasn't often that their captain praised a rookie.

"I hear Ace is a Logia-type Devil Fruit user!" another chimed in.

"Ever since he set sail, Fire Fist Ace has been picking fights with strong pirates left and right. Once he gets to the New World, he might come after us!" a third added, a hint of excitement in his voice.

"And he's so young!"

The commanders were intrigued. This year, two rookies were stealing all the attention!

One was a rising star in the Marines, a guy with black hair who had quickly climbed the ranks to Rear Admiral by defeating pirate after pirate.

The Whitebeard Pirates didn't know much about this "Black Hair" guy. Information was scarce, mostly limited to brief newspaper reports.

He seemed like a strange and ambitious Marine rookie, but he hadn't accomplished anything truly spectacular yet.

The other rookie was "Fire Fist" Ace.

In just six months, Ace had taken down numerous famous pirates, making it clear his goal was to challenge the strongest.

Young, strong, and driven.

Plus, he had the incredible advantage of being a Logia-type user.

Ace's fame skyrocketed, far surpassing Black Hair. All the big powers in the New World were watching him closely.

"Gura rā ra, don't underestimate him," Whitebeard said, taking another swig of wine. He looked at Ace's face in the newspaper, a familiar face that stirred old memories.

"Roger..." he muttered almost to himself.

So similar, too similar!

He had fought alongside and against Roger for decades, knowing him as well as anyone. Ace looked almost exactly like Roger did when he was younger.

And his strength...

Achieving such fame at such a young age was no ordinary feat.

And that name, "Ace"... If it were just a coincidence, it would be too much of a coincidence.

Roger's sword had also been named "Ace."

Ace is Roger's son! Whitebeard thought, the realization solidifying in his mind.

"Pops? Pops?"

"Hmm?" Whitebeard blinked, snapping back to the present. He saw his sons looking at him with concern. A smile spread across his face.

"Gura rā ra, drink up!" he roared, raising his cup.

He needed to prepare for what was coming, for the future of the Whitebeard Pirates.

Near Thunder God Island, also located in the New World, the warships of the 11th Division were waiting silently, weathering a fierce storm.

"Keep a sharp lookout!"

"Report any pirate ships immediately!"

On the mast's watchtower, twice the usual number of sentries strained their eyes, scanning the surrounding waters.

Inside the conference room, the officers were gathered, their faces grim.

"According to our intel, the Spade Pirates reached Sabaody Archipelago a week ago and managed to escape the Marines. They could show up in the New World any day now!"

Traveling from Sabaody to Fish-Man Island, then from Fish-Man Island to the New World, usually took about a week, including the time to coat the ship for underwater travel.

But, the Spade Pirates might have stopped at Fish-Man Island for a bit. After all, it's a beautiful place, perfect for sightseeing.

Roya nodded slowly.

After waiting for more than half a month at G-5, Ace is finally coming.

But catching Ace wouldn't be easy; he'd need some luck. There were three main shipping routes in the New World, and he didn't know which one Ace would take.

The magnetic field around Thunder God Island was the most chaotic, making it seem the most dangerous. Therefore, it was most likely Ace would head to Thunder God Island.

He had also positioned G-5 warships along the other two routes, just in case.

All he could do now was wait.

Late that night, the storm began to die down.

Near the Red Line, a ship suddenly burst from the ocean depths, like a breaching whale. It crashed back onto the surface, its sails emblazoned with a skull and crossbones featuring a spade.

"Pop!"

The bubble coating the ship shattered.

"We're here! The New World!" the pirates cheered, their voices filled with excitement.

After sailing for over half a year and overcoming countless hardships, they had finally reached the New World of their dreams.

"Captain Ace!"

"Yeah!" Ace stood at the bow, his hand shielding his eyes from the sun.

He turned to his crew, giving them a wide, confident smile.

They looked back at him, their faces full of anticipation.

"Captain, where do we go next?"

"Hmm, let me think..." Ace said, glancing at the Log Pose. His eyes locked onto the needle pointing towards Thunder God Island.

His crew's faces fell. It was impossible to miss what Ace was thinking.

"Captain Ace!" Skull, the navigator and intelligence officer, tried to change his mind with a sly grin. "I hear Mister Island is famous for its chili peppers! Your favorite Soul Severing Peppers come from there!"

"Really?" Ace's eyes widened.

He loved spicy food, the hotter the better.

The kind that made you breathe fire.

"Of course! It's true!" As an intelligence officer, Skull had gathered lots of information about the New World while they were at Sabaody, especially about the starting points of the three shipping routes.

"They say Mister Island has tons of spicy gourmet food, and it's also the closest route if you want to challenge Whitebeard!"

"Then let's go there!" Ace declared immediately.

One of his biggest goals was to defeat the legendary Whitebeard and make his name known across the world.

"Bru-bru-bru..."

The sound of a Den Den Mushi ringing filled the air.

The pirates tensed, their expressions turning serious.

In the pirate world, there were many traps that used Den Den Mushi to call for help, and answering them without permission could easily reveal your location.

"Be careful--"

"Kacha!"

"Hello, this is Ace!"

Before anyone could warn him, Ace answered the Den Den Mushi and announced his name without hesitation.

The crew stared, dumbfounded.

Idiot! Who told you to answer it?!

"Help! We're under attack by pirates! Can you come and save us?" a voice cried from the Den Den Mushi.

"Hello? Where are you?" Ace asked anxiously.

"We're on Mister... Aaaaah!"

"Kacha!"

Along with a scream, the Den Den Mushi suddenly went dead.

"That must be Mister Island!" Ace exclaimed, turning to his crew with urgency. "Someone needs help! Let's go save them, quick!"

"Calm down, Ace!" Deuce, the vice-captain, looked at Ace with a helpless expression. His captain was great in so many ways, but he trusted people too easily.

"This is probably a trap!"

"Eh? A trap?"

Ace blinked, quickly calming down. He scratched his head, smiling apologetically. "Sorry! But let's still go check it out, what if someone really needs help?"

"."

The pirates smiled helplessly.

Their captain's temperament was as fiery as the flames he controlled, always a little clumsy, but also as warm and passionate as fire. That was the biggest reason they were willing to follow him.

"Set sail, Spade Pirates!"
