Chapter 330: Mold Breaker Activates—You Call This a Dragon Dance?
The atmosphere within the arena had reached a fever pitch, the air thick with the static of anticipation and the lingering scent of ozone. Cynthia, the Champion of the Sinnoh League, stood tall, her long blonde hair swaying slightly despite the lack of a natural breeze. Her presence alone was a masterclass in poise, yet a sharp edge now cut through her usual elegance.
"However, your winning streak ends here," she declared, her voice ringing out with a clarity that silenced the murmuring crowd.
With a practiced flick of her wrist, she tossed a Poké Ball into the center of the dusty stadium. A flash of brilliant red light erupted, and a sleek, powerful land-shark dragon materialized with a deafening, earth-shaking bellow. Its body was clad in deep blue scales, its arms ending in scythe-like fins that glinted with a lethal edge.
ROAR—!!!
The sheer momentum of its entrance sent a shockwave across the arena, making the stone tiles tremble. Even the hardened Marine generals watching the broadcast from Blake’s tavern felt a phantom weight settle on their shoulders. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Such incredible pressure!" Fleet Admiral Sengoku muttered, his eyes narrowing as he gripped his rice cracker. "That beast... it possesses an aura of pure carnage. It’s certainly no weaker than an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit user!"
Across the field, Lilly remained as impassive as a statue, her small frame a stark contrast to the monsters she commanded. She didn’t flinch. She simply raised her hand, her voice a cold whisper that carried across the wind.
"Come out."
BOOM—!!!
The Pitch-Black Demon Dragon descended once more, its massive, dark form blotting out the arena lights. The two "dragons" faced off, and for a heartbeat, time seemed to stop. Tyranny clashed with composure; the raw, unbridled arrogance of the sea met the icy, tactical calm of the land. Their opposing fields of pressure ground against each other, manifesting as invisible gales that tore at the arena’s surface.
"Oh?" Cynthia’s golden eyes flickered with a genuine, rare spark of surprise as she appraised the black dragon. What an interesting, heavy aura... it feels less like a Pokémon and more like a force of nature. "In that case, let us respond to this respect with our strongest form."
She reached for the teardrop-shaped Key Stone pinned to her collar, but Lilly’s command struck first like a lightning bolt.
"Gyarados," Lilly commanded, her voice void of warmth. "Mega Evolve."
Hum—!!!
The Mega Stone dangling from Kaido’s neck resonated with the Key Stone on Lilly’s wrist, erupting in a column of blinding light. Dazzling chains of evolution energy lashed out, binding the trainer and the beast. Inside the glow, Kaido’s silhouette shifted and swelled. His muscles coiled and hardened, his originally "slender" frame expanding into a juggernaut of armored scale and raw power. Lava-yellow patterns seared their way across his ink-black hide, and the fins along his spine elongated into a row of jagged, razor-sharp blades.
[Ding! Gyarados has Mega Evolved into Mega Gyarados!] [Type Change: Water/Dark!] [Ability Change: Mold Breaker!!!]
The mechanical announcement echoed through the minds of everyone in the shop. Sengoku leaned forward, nearly spilling his drink. "Mold Breaker? What kind of power is that?"
Blake, leaning casually against the bar with a steaming cup of coffee, let a small, knowing smirk tug at his lips. "It’s an ability that allows one to ignore the ’rules’ of the opponent’s defenses," he explained smoothly. "In other words, certain flashy little tricks will be utterly meaningless before him."
In the arena, Cynthia didn’t wait for the dust to settle. "Garchomp! [Dragon Rush]!"
Garchomp lunged, its body enveloped in a sapphire-blue shroud of draconic energy. It became a blue comet streaking across the dirt, aiming to pulverize everything in its path. Kaido, however, only watched the incoming projectile with a gaze full of crimson disdain.
Worororororo...
The low, rumbling laugh of the "Strongest Creature" shook the air. He didn’t even bother to brace himself. "[Crunch]!"
BOOM—!!!!
The collision was like a mountain collapsing into the sea. A violent shockwave of energy rippled outward, shattering the nearby spectators’ screens. At the point of impact, Garchomp’s scales flared with a dull red light—its [Rough Skin] ability intended to shred anything that dared touch it. It was the ultimate deterrent for physical fighters.
But Kaido didn’t flinch. [Mold Breaker] tore through the defensive trait as if it weren’t there. His massive jaws clamped down on Garchomp’s torso, ignoring the jagged scales entirely. Cynthia’s composure finally cracked as she saw her partner take the full brunt of the counter.
Wororororo—!!! Kaido’s laughter was a thunderclap of mockery. Is this the best the ’Champion’ has to offer?!
"Garchomp! Fall back!" Cynthia cried out, her tactical mind resetting instantly. She realized that in a test of pure, unadulterated strength, Kaido was a monster that defied the logic of her world.
Garchomp beat its wings, retreating dozens of meters, a deep, bleeding bite mark marring its chest. "Such power..." Cynthia whispered, her brow furrowed. "His strength is even greater than a standard Mega Evolution... But battle is not just a contest of muscle. Garchomp! [Dragon Dance]!"
Garchomp began to spin, its movements a rhythmic, high-speed blur as a crimson aura surged around it, boosting its lethality and speed. Kaido watched the display, his eyes glowing with an even deeper contempt. You think you know how to dance?
Wororororo...
Lilly raised her hand, her voice as sharp as a blade. "[Dragon Dance]."
Hum—!!!
An aura of absolute terror erupted from Mega Gyarados. He didn’t spin; he didn’t dance in any traditional sense. Instead, he lowered his gargantuan, monstrous head, his body sinking into a predatory crouch. His muscles vibrated with a frequency that hummed in the bones of everyone present.
Suddenly, ripples of invisible Conqueror’s Haki began to pulse outward like tidal waves.
Zzt—! Zzt-zzt—!
Jagged streaks of black lightning tore through the air, coiling around his massive body like serpents. This wasn’t just a stat boost from the system—it was the overwhelming presence of a Yonko, the King of Beasts, manifesting in the Pokémon world.
"Wh-What is that?!" the announcer screamed, his voice breaking. "It’s the same move, but the pressure is suffocating! I can’t breathe!"
Cynthia’s face turned pale as she felt the aura of the black dragon skyrocketing. She knew that if she didn’t act now, the match would be over in a single strike.
"This is bad! Garchomp, stop him at any cost! [Dragon Rush]!!!"
Garchomp ignited, transforming into a blue comet once more, faster and more desperate than ever before. It threw itself toward the static-charged black dragon with every ounce of resolve it possessed.
