Chapter 321: Willpower Breakthrough! The Modified Iron Mountain Lean Shakes Pewter Gym

The air in Pewter City felt heavy, saturated with the scent of pulverized granite and the ancient, stagnant dust of the mountains. For Lilly, this was the daunting threshold of her journey—a trial of stone that felt far too solid for her fragile resolve.

"The Gym..."

She stood before the massive, monolithic doors of the Pewter Gym, her small hands white-knuckled as she twisted the fabric of her skirt. Every instinct screamed at her to run, but the heavy weight of the Pokéball in her arms felt like an anchor. With trembling fingers, she tapped her Pokédex, seeking some shred of comfort in the data.

[Pewter Gym. Leader: Brock. Specializes in Rock-type Pokémon.]

Rock-types... The realization hit her like a physical blow. She looked down at the Pokéball containing her only partner, a Magikarp. Water is strong against Rock! A tiny spark of hope flickered in her chest—a desperate, fragile flame of "fighting spirit" that urged her forward. Steeling herself, she pushed against the cold stone doors.

The interior was a cavernous arena, lit by flickering lamps that cast long, jagged shadows across the rocky terrain. In the center stood a man who looked as though he had been carved from the very mountains he championed. Brock stood shirtless, his muscles rippling like tectonic plates, his eyes sharp and unyielding.

But it was the shadow behind him that froze Lilly’s blood. Coiled like a sleeping mountain was an Onix—a titanic serpent of grey boulders, its sheer mass radiating a suffocating, geological pressure.

"O-Onix..."

Lilly’s legs turned to lead. The "hope" she had felt moments ago was extinguished instantly, replaced by a primal terror that made her teeth chatter. This wasn’t a game; it felt like a death sentence.

"I want... I want to give up..."

Tears pricked her eyes as she spun around, desperate to escape the suffocating aura of the gym. But before she could take a single step, a sharp click echoed through the hall, followed by a violent burst of light. The Pokéball had forced itself open.

Slap. A crimson Magikarp flopped onto the dusty floor.

Kaido had arrived.

He didn’t bother looking at Brock or the towering stone snake. His dull, dead-fish eyes were fixed solely on Lilly. There was no sound, no roar of Conqueror’s Haki, yet the void in his gaze was more terrifying than any scream. It was a cold, absolute ultimatum from the "Strongest Creature" of another world: Run, and you die.

Lilly’s entire body locked up. She felt as though a spectral blade were pressed against her throat. She understood then—with the clarity of the doomed—that the fish was far more dangerous than the mountain.

"I... I won’t run..." she whispered through her sobs, turning back to face the arena.

Brock watched the exchange with a bewildered frown. He had seen many trainers, but never one who seemed more afraid of her own Pokémon than the Gym Leader. The Magikarp on the floor didn’t look like a mindless fish; it looked like a demon trapped in scales.

"Are you certain you wish to challenge me?" Brock’s voice was like grinding gravel.

"I... I’m sure!" Lilly screamed, her voice cracking with the effort of defying her own fear.

"Very well," Brock replied, shifting into a low stance. "Then witness the crushing weight of the earth! Go, Onix!"

"ROAARR—!!"

The Onix lunged, its massive body churning the earth as it circled the arena. Each movement sent tremors through the floorboards.

"Go... go! Magikarp!" Lilly pointed a shaking finger.

Kaido didn’t move. He lay on the dust, staring at the Onix as if it were a mere earthworm. To him, this "giant" was a pathetic joke.

"Onix, use [Rock Throw]!"

Brock’s command unleashed a hail of jagged boulders that whistled through the air like artillery shells.

"Watch out! Get away!" Lilly cried out in panic.

But Kaido remained motionless. In his previous life, he had welcomed the strongest attacks of the world’s elite; he wasn’t about to dodge a handful of pebbles thrown by a child.

[Thud! Thud! Thud!]

The stones smashed into Kaido with enough force to shatter steel, yet they simply bounced off his red scales, crumbling into dust upon impact. Not even a single scale was chipped.

Back in the Dimensional Shop’s bar, the rowdy atmosphere had vanished into stunned silence. Garp’s half-eaten senbei fell from his hand.

"Is that... is that seriously a fckng Magikarp?" Garp barked, his eyes bulging.

Sengoku didn’t answer immediately. He leaned forward, his glasses reflecting the blue light of the broadcast. "No... the shop has sealed his powers, but it cannot erase the soul. That is the physical essence of Kaido of the Beasts! Even in that form, his ’Strongest Creature’ instincts have turned those scales into impenetrable armor".

On the screen, Kaido cast a sidelong glance at Lilly. His eyes were scathing. Do you see, you pathetic brat? This is how a warrior stands. Now, give me a real command!

Lilly flinched, her mind racing. "U-Use [Splash]!" she yelled, calling out the only move her Pokédex had listed.

[Splash!]

Kaido flopped once. It was a humiliating, useless gesture that made Brock’s lip twitch.

"If you won’t take this seriously, then neither will I," Brock said, his patience thinning. "Onix, use [Bind]!"

The stone serpent struck with serpentine speed, its massive body coiling around Kaido’s small frame and squeezing with enough pressure to crush a tank.

[Creeeeeak—]

The sound of grinding stone filled the gym. Lilly screamed in despair, certain her partner was being turned into paste. But inside the coil, Kaido was almost bored. This is it? This doesn’t even compare to King’s fire or the weight of the sea.

He activated his recently acquired skill.

[Endure]!

His body became as dense as a neutron star. No matter how much Onix tightened its grip, Kaido remained unyielding. The stone snake began to tire, its muscles quivering with the effort of trying to break an unbreakable object.

"Impossible!" Brock shouted. "Onix, release him and use [Tackle]!"

The Onix uncoiled and reared back, its massive head slamming forward like a falling mountain.

[BOOM!!!]

The impact sent Kaido tumbling across the arena like a kicked stone.

[It’s super effective!]

Kaido grunted as he came to a stop, his vision swimming. The Rock-type energy had bypassed his external durability, jolting his very insides. A sharp, burning pain flared in his gills.

"Karu..." he growled, a sound more like a predator than a fish.

"Don’t stop! Use your full-power [Tackle]!" Brock commanded.

As the Onix charged again, its head growing larger and larger in Kaido’s vision, a dormant volcano of rage erupted within the fish’s soul.

I am... Kaido!

I will not be humiliated by a pile of rocks! If this body is weak, I will force it to be strong!

Move, you useless piece of sht!!!*

He poured his entire existence—his memories of the Azure Dragon, the weight of his mace, and the fury of a thousand defeats—into his tiny, finned frame. He envisioned his signature move, the strike that had ended empires.

[Thunder Bagua]!

Suddenly, the air in the gym seemed to vibrate.

[Ding!]

[Due to the Host’s willpower breaking past its limits, physical instinct has been overridden!]

[Magikarp has mastered a new skill: Tackle!]

Kaido didn’t wait. He coiled his body on the ground like a high-tension spring. He didn’t jump; he exploded forward. He used the principles of the Iron Mountain Lean, channeling his entire mass and momentum into a single, shoulder-first strike.

"KARUUUUU!!!!"

A red blur streaked across the ground, a miniature meteor of pure violence. The two combatants collided with a sound that shook the very foundations of Pewter City.

[CRACK!!!]

The sound of shattering stone echoed through the gym. It wasn’t the fish that broke. The mountain-sized Onix was hurled backward, its massive head snapping back as it crashed into the far wall in a spray of gravel.

Brock stared in horror. On the Onix’s hardened jaw, a massive, jagged crack had appeared where the tiny fish had struck.
