One Night Bride: Master Blackwood's Substitute Wife-Chapter 861: Suspicion on the Phone
Sebastian Blackwood’s eyes didn’t even flicker as he naturally admitted, "As long as you know."
Ivy Kensington was almost fuming with anger.
This damned man, he still had the nerve to speak, clearly it was him who used her first.
Not wanting to discuss these pointless topics anymore, Ivy simply kept quiet.
Sebastian Blackwood had several examinations, but because the hospital belonged to Blackwood Group, the process was especially quick. Within an hour, all the tests were completed.
The last test was a dynamic blood pressure check, and Ivy didn’t follow him inside. Instead, she waited outside.
The phone in her pocket suddenly vibrated.
Ivy, feeling bored, was suddenly brought back to her senses.
Evan Lowell — these three big characters flashed on the screen.
For a moment, the phone vibrated in her palm, and Ivy stared at these three characters, but she didn’t know how to answer. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Should she tell him that she already knew the truth about the kidnapping incident?
But what would it change, even if she did say it?
What’s done is done, saying more would only be an excuse.
—— [Ivy, pick up the phone when you see this. I can’t reach you, I’m worried.]
The phone vibrating in her palm automatically hung up, and soon, a text message came through.
Ivy pursed her lips and looked at it for a minute or two, her eyes somewhat blank.
And at this moment, Evan Lowell called again.
This time, after hesitating for a moment, Ivy still pressed to answer.
"Ivy, why didn’t you answer the phone?"
On the other side of the phone was Evan Lowell’s concerned voice asking.
Ivy’s throat swallowed a little, ready to ask about the kidnapping incident, but in the end, she couldn’t quite bring herself to say it. Perhaps deep down, she subconsciously felt that Evan Lowell using her wasn’t something she found too hard to accept.
At least compared to Sebastian Blackwood using her, the fact that Sebastian used her was more unacceptable to her and made her angrier.
Ivy felt strange in her heart, momentarily absent-minded, and only reacted when Evan Lowell asked for the third time.
"Nothing... nothing, I just ran into a friend, went shopping with a friend, and didn’t pay attention to the phone in my bag."
"Friend?"
Evan Lowell seemingly questioned in confusion.
Apart from Sharon Langley, what other close friends did she have around her?
He seemed to have never heard of any.
Ivy said vaguely, "Just someone I met recently."
"So that’s it. Ivy, go ahead and shop with your friend then."
Hearing that he was about to hang up, Ivy quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to hang up, Sebastian Blackwood walked out of the examination room.
"Who are you talking to on the phone?"
The man’s voice was low, the clarity of his tone was such that it was easy to recognize.
Ivy glared at him, mouthing the words: "Shut up."
Then, covering the phone’s microphone, she hastily said to the other end, "We’ll talk later, I’ll be back soon, and we can talk then."
Evan Lowell on the other end seemed to fall into silence, then after a moment, he just responded with an "Alright, I understand."
The call ended, and cold sweat appeared on Ivy’s forehead.
Sebastian Blackwood squinted his eyes. Even before coming out, he heard the ringtone and knew it was Evan Lowell’s without needing to guess.
But what surprised him was Ivy’s actions.
Not once did she bring up the kidnapping incident with him?
Was it because she cared for Evan Lowell that she could overlook what he did wrong, or did she not care at all, so it didn’t matter?
The usually astute man found himself unable to fathom Ivy’s heart at this moment.
Ivy didn’t know what he was thinking, but seeing him looking at her intently, she involuntarily raised her hand and touched her face.
Was there something on her face worth looking at so seriously?
However...
