One Night Bride: Master Blackwood's Substitute Wife-Chapter 823: Acting
"Evan Lowell!"
Ivy Kensington was utterly shocked, completely unprepared for Evan Lowell to protect her like this.
For a moment, she stood bewildered on the spot, staring at his injured arm, not knowing what to do.
"Oh my God! That’s terrifying! Someone actually got hurt."
"He’s really a good husband, knowing to protect his wife in times of danger!"
"Quick, take him to the hospital. Don’t let your husband bleed too much."
The onlookers were equally astonished, chattering animatedly amongst themselves.
The kidnapper had already been subdued by the bodyguards Evan Lowell had brought along, pinned to the ground, struggling incessantly, and his Swiss army knife had been confiscated.
"Call the police, let them handle it."
Evan Lowell ordered coldly.
A few bodyguards immediately dragged the kidnapper away, "Yes, Eldest Young Master Lowell!"
Soon, the kidnapper was taken out of everyone’s sight, getting into a black van meant to transport him away.
"Hey guys, the kidnapping act is over. When is the payment going to be settled?"
In the van, the kidnapper pulled off his mask and hat, eagerly inquiring.
For this drama, he had been kicked by Eldest Young Master Lowell, and it hurt like hell.
The kidnapper rubbed his kicked stomach, grimacing in pain.
Evan Lowell’s assistant was also in the van. Hearing this, he warned, "The money will be transferred in due time, you won’t get shortchanged, so don’t rush it! And keep your mouth shut, or else... ha."
The assistant let out a cold laugh, the implication clear as a bell.
Of course, the money wasn’t going to be transferred so quickly; if someone with an ulterior motive investigated, wouldn’t everything be exposed?
Evan Lowell wasn’t that foolish; even if he were to send the money, he wouldn’t use an account under his name.
"Alright, alright, I’ll just wait then."
The kidnapper nodded, not daring to ask further. As long as he eventually received the money, it was fine with him!
...
On the other side.
Ivy Kensington watched in shock as blood flowed steadily from Evan Lowell’s arm, her eyelashes blinking several times, unable to react.
"Why are you so foolish?"
She furrowed her brows tightly and said softly moments later.
The kidnapper’s knife would have missed her even if it had struck, and she didn’t expect him to shield her, now with such a serious injury to his arm, her heart was full of guilt.
But Evan Lowell looked at her with gentle eyes and said, "Ivy, you’re my fiancée, I couldn’t just stand by and watch you in danger."
His eyes were filled with sincerity as he looked at her, and Ivy Kensington pressed her lips together, suddenly not knowing what to say.
After a while, she said, "Let’s go to the hospital, I’ll help you dress the wound."
"Alright."
Evan Lowell responded, his lips gradually curling into a smile.
Ivy Kensington was soft-hearted, and as long as he used this incident, she wouldn’t leave his side for some time.
...
At this moment, after Ivy Kensington left the presidential suite, Sebastian Blackwood did not chase after her.
Because a sudden sharp pain struck his heart, it took him a few minutes to finally steady himself.
His cold, handsome face was already covered in a fine sheen of sweat.
"Master Blackwood!"
Owen Rhodes arrived to see this scene and was taken aback!
"Are you alright? Is your heart acting up again?"
Owen Rhodes asked anxiously.
Although the knife didn’t fully pierce his heart back then, it still placed a varied degree of strain on it, and since the treatment abroad wasn’t fully completed before he returned to the country, this impact occurs intermittently.
