Igor was eager to understand why Kadi was able to resist control. Everyone else here had had their thoughts invaded by this Dark Force, yet only Kadi had managed to retain his own thoughts in their entirety.

Could it be because Kadi was a monster, making his thought patterns different from most other people?

Igor didn't know. They were in a precarious situation. They had time on their hands, but it felt futile.

It seemed as though it was a story with a predetermined ending for Igor and his companions...

The inevitable conclusion felt disheartening; Igor could barely bring himself to face it.

The emergence of Kadi was heartening for Igor. He felt there was a glimmer of hope in this predetermined ending. Even if they had no way of currently contending against their adversary, they could definitely throw their opponent's plan into utter chaos.

They had done things like this before; they had experience, they had confidence.

Causing chaos was Kadi's forte, after all.

After Kadi's appearance, these were the most recurrent thoughts in Igor's mind. For him, a chance for victory meant disrupting the opponent's rhythm.

Of course, he also believed that the seniors had their own means of dealing with this adversary. But now that all of them had been stripped of their emotional expression and ability for Information Sharing, they were in a completely passive situation.

Since Kadi had managed to contact him, he had to make use of Kadi to establish communication with the other seniors.

This seemed like an impossible task, considering all the controls were currently in the adversary's hands. But Igor remained confident, sensing the endless Spirit Power fluctuations within Kadi.

What was happening with Kadi was unclear to Igor, but it was indisputable that Kadi was unlike ordinary people when it came to Spirit Power sharing and storage.

Igor suddenly thought about the recent event where Kadi had played a peculiar role.

He recalled the process of contacting the Little Black Hands, where Kadi had served as a Medium. Although he still didn't quite understand what this Medium entailed, he felt Kadi had an innate and significant connection to things related to Spirit Power.

As for the nature of this relationship, that was something they would have to figure out in due course.

Right now, he was more curious about how Kadi was channeling this unique ability.

Unfortunately, Kadi himself had no idea what was happening either.

"What should we do next?" Kadi had grown impatient a while ago and had always wanted to seek Igor's help. Having finally found the opportunity, he certainly was not going to let it slip away.

"I need a lot, a lot of information," Igor murmured weakly, sensing Kadi's urgency.

"I've always wondered why I'm perfectly all right," Kadi said, also concerned about his own anomaly. "That Dark Force spoke a lot of odd things to me during our conversation, many of which I still don't understand."

"Everyone is unique in their own way, and it's these differences that shape you and me," Igor stated calmly.

Kadi half-understood. Igor's statement seemed logical, but he couldn't quite pinpoint exactly why.

If Kuyi Tulan were present at that moment, he would refute Igor's statement. Kuyi Tulan had always been planning a mission called "Purification." His goal was to build a special army for the Kayne Empire. In this army, every soldier would follow commands without question, devoid of any emotion, and perform tasks without any extraneous activities...

Of course, Igor did not know about Kuyi Tulan's plan. His musings were just a response to their current circumstances.

This Dark Force wants to assimilate everyone, transforming them all to become like the darkness itself—capable of mercilessly devouring everything. It has made all of them lose their emotions, robbed them of their expressiveness. Ultimately, doesn't it just want to turn everyone into Puppets?

Igor didn't want to become someone void of self-consciousness. This assimilation was no different from murder. For him, the pursuit of liberty was essential. Even though he knew there was no such thing as absolute freedom, the ability to act according to one's own free will was the essence of being.

Kadi quietly narrated all the scenes of his conversation with the Dark Force to Igor. He felt this might be useful, as Igor's analytical capabilities were much stronger than his own, so he had to recount every single detail.

He even detailed the stories from the ancient trees that he had heard. Some were dull, some lively, but undeniably, all of them were long-winded.

Igor listened quietly. They had more than enough time now to listen to many stories; after all, the journey to the Eternal Tranquility Realm was a long one. This surplus of time felt both frustrating and abundant.

Igor had never expected the various derivative effects brought by the Ant Connection Spell. Kadi's casual exploration of this spell technique and its considerable derivative results were indeed magical.

However, the stories Kadi narrated were even more astonishing to Igor.

The Dark Force had actually devoured the souls of nearly a thousand people...

Moreover, it seemed to have retained the memories of every single person devoured. That was truly perverse!

Could this being be a monster that survived by collecting others' memories?

No wonder it was relentlessly devouring everyone.

Igor carefully pondered this. He wanted to understand what was hidden within these stories.

Especially since the old woman of his Scale of Faith had been using stories to stall the Dark Force. Therefore, he believed that dealing with this monster had to be connected to these stories...

It seemed the stories had become the key to defeating this Dark Force.

Igor was exhausted. But I must stay strong. This isn't the time for me to retreat. Gradually, he found a glimmer of an idea.

The Dark Force claimed it never fought; it only assimilated. This, in a sense, suggested its attack strategy was singular...

Especially when it came to Physique Technique. The Dark Force was probably extremely lacking in this aspect.

Although Igor was almost spent, he felt gratified. This long period of perseverance hasn't been in vain, and I still have Kadi with me.

No, I can feel that the seniors are also standing by my side. On this path of resistance, I'm not alone, not in the slightest.

Thank you all for being with me.

Igor was overwhelmed with emotion. Even though we can't see any hope right now, having so many people united to fight against this Dark Force is fulfilling. Even if failure is our ultimate destiny, I'm not alone on this path.
