Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Jealousy

Chloe Sterling glanced sideways at Jasper Lockwood. His handsome face was cold, and a bone-chilling frost seemed to radiate from him in an instant.

She quickly looked away and turned to the woman. "Yes, I know."

"So he found you? You didn’t come back with Sir, did you?" the woman asked again.

"No. Auntie Vera, there’s not much between Silas Coldwell and me."

The woman froze for a moment, then turned to look at the tall, handsome man beside Chloe Sterling. His expression was cold and clearly unhappy. She instantly understood what was happening and gave a hollow laugh. "Oh, I see. Well, I have to get back to something, so I won’t bother you any longer."

Chloe Sterling smiled. "Alright."

The woman hurried away.

Chloe Sterling felt a little awkward. After a moment, she said, "Are you tired? Why don’t we get back in the car?"

Jasper Lockwood pursed his thin lips and hummed in agreement.

The two of them got back into the car. Just as they were about to reach the villa, Jasper Lockwood suddenly called out, "Henry Chamberlain!"

Henry Chamberlain immediately responded, "Second Master, what is it?"

"Go to the house over by Creative Plaza."

"Huh?" Henry Chamberlain paused, stunned. "Second Master, are we going to be staying there?"

"That’s right! After this, I want you to come back here and move all of our things over there!"

"...Yes, sir."

Chloe Sterling looked at Jasper Lockwood in surprise, at a loss for words.

Jasper Lockwood had guessed that Silas Coldwell owned a house nearby, and that the woman they just met was likely one of his servants. It was obvious Chloe had been there before, which was why the woman recognized her. He didn’t want to witness another scene like that, so he decided to simply move.

Sensing Chloe’s gaze, he glanced over at her and said with a perfectly straight face, "I just remembered the other house is more comfortable. Besides, it’s not too far from the Lancaster estate."

Chloe Sterling saw through his excuse but didn’t call him on it. She simply nodded. "Okay."

In truth, they both knew perfectly well what was going on. Jasper knew his excuse was flimsy, and Chloe was simply playing along.

A short while later, the car pulled into the driveway of another villa.

They both got out of the car. Chloe looked at the house before them. It had a European-style architecture, similar to the other villa.

"Let’s go in," Jasper Lockwood said.

"Okay." Chloe followed him inside.

"Second Master, Madam, I’ll head back to get your luggage," Henry Chamberlain said.

"Go on." After speaking, Jasper Lockwood turned back to Chloe. "Let’s head in."

"Okay."

They had just stepped through the main doors into the living room when Jasper suddenly stopped. Seeing this, Chloe immediately asked, "What’s wrong?"

Jasper Lockwood suddenly pinned her against the door, his deep, sharp eyes fixed on her.

Chloe swallowed. "Let’s go upstairs..."

Before she could finish, he abruptly lowered his head and kissed her.

Back in their room, the heat finally faded from Chloe’s face. She stood on the balcony, looking down at the yard. Jasper was sitting in a white wicker chair by the pool, exuding an air of lazy, noble elegance as several of his men reported to him.

Chloe pursed her lips, her mind replaying that possessive, forceful kiss.

’This man’s jealousy is honestly a little terrifying.’

The next day, Jasper Lockwood went to the branch office again.

Chloe Sterling didn’t go out; she stayed home to develop prescriptions. While Old Mrs. Lancaster’s condition wasn’t difficult for her to treat, the circumstances were unique, requiring different formulas to manage the initial and later stages of her recovery.

「Crestfall.」

Phoebe Sinclair arrived early at her family’s hotel.

After learning from the staff that Silas Coldwell was having breakfast in the restaurant, she went over with a friend, intentionally choosing a table not far from his.

"Phoebe, what’s wrong? You don’t seem to be in a very good mood," Chloe Kensington asked, deliberately glancing in Silas Coldwell’s direction.

Phoebe Sinclair let out a soft sigh. "It’s nothing. Thank you for coming to keep me company."

"Oh, don’t be so formal with me. Tell me, what’s really bothering you? Is it because of President Lockwood?"

Phoebe Sinclair said nothing.

Chloe Kensington said, "Looks like I guessed right. Phoebe, in my opinion, you have no reason to be upset. There’s no way President Lockwood actually likes that woman from the countryside. He’s just using her to get the shares Old Master Lockwood holds. Once he has them, he’ll definitely kick that Chloe Sterling to the curb!"

Phoebe Sinclair said, "But he’s being very protective of her right now. And Chloe Sterling was at the bid the other day, too."

"She went to the bid with President Lockwood?! What would a country bumpkin like her even understand! But I guess that makes sense. If he didn’t make it look convincing, Old Master Lockwood would never believe him. Even though President Lockwood already controls the Lockwood Group, there are still people gunning for his position. If he can get that twenty percent of shares from the old master, his status in the group will be completely unshakable. As for that Chloe Sterling woman, she has no money and no power. He can get rid of her whenever he wants."

Phoebe Sinclair nodded. "You have a point. It’s true, if he gets that twenty percent of the shares from Old Master Lockwood, his position in the group will be untouchable. That’s why he has to protect that woman and make sure she stays obediently by his side for two years."

"Exactly! You just watch. In two years, that woman will be completely out of President Lockwood’s life. I refuse to believe a man as lofty as President Lockwood could fall for a country bumpkin."

The two of them continued discussing Jasper Lockwood and Chloe Sterling until Silas Coldwell finished his breakfast and left the restaurant.

Chloe Kensington immediately asked, "Phoebe, will this really work?"

A sharp glint flashed in Phoebe Sinclair’s eyes. "Of course it will! Silas Coldwell wants to go against Jasper Lockwood, which means he’ll do anything to stop him from getting those shares. The easiest way is to target Chloe Sterling. We just made a point of mentioning that she’s nothing but a powerless country bumpkin with no money. That way, Silas will have no reservations. He might even have her killed."

Chloe Kensington smiled. "Good point. But won’t that actually prevent President Lockwood from getting the shares?"

After a brief pause, Phoebe Sinclair said, "Once Chloe Sterling is dead, I’ll go to him. I’ll offer to enter a fake marriage to help him get the shares. As long as he agrees, I’ll slowly turn our marriage into a real one."

"Yes, that’s a great idea. Then we just have to wait for that monster to make his move on Chloe Sterling. I hope he acts fast and doesn’t keep you waiting."

Phoebe Sinclair’s lips curled into a smirk. She was confident Silas Coldwell would make a move on Chloe Sterling. After all, he had once deliberately told her that the Nocturne Group offered assassination services.

Silas Coldwell and Jasper Lockwood’s conflict had been escalating recently. He might just get angry enough to personally order Chloe Sterling’s assassination.

He had seen Chloe Sterling sitting beside Jasper Lockwood at the bid. It wouldn’t be difficult for a man like Silas Coldwell to find information on her.

「In the hotel hallway.」

Silas Coldwell strolled casually, a subordinate at his side. "Boss, that Sinclair woman was obviously saying all that for you to hear."

Silas Coldwell chuckled. "Of course. She doesn’t have the guts to touch Jasper Lockwood’s woman, so she wants me to do her dirty work."

"She probably never imagined you have a connection with Miss Chester. There’s no way you’d touch Chloe Sterling."

Silas Coldwell snorted. "Who says I won’t touch her? Sooner or later, I’m going to take her away!" He paused, then added, "Later, go find a house and buy it. I’m done staying in this dump. Since we’ve opened a branch in Crestfall, it’s time we had a proper residence."

"Yes, sir."
