Chloe Sterling walked out of the lab and sent a message to Julian Xavier, telling him about the substance’s effects.

The results were about what Julian Xavier had guessed. He replied: [Okay, got it.]

Chloe Sterling: [Look into it thoroughly.]

Julian Xavier: [I’ve already started looking into it. If I find out who’s messing with this kind of stuff in my bar, I’ll kill them.]

Chloe Sterling smiled but didn’t reply.

It was already noon, so Chloe Sterling decided to go downstairs and get something to eat.

Just as she stepped out of the lab building, a familiar figure suddenly appeared.

Damian Rivers walked over with a smile. "Chloe, long time no see."

Chloe Sterling looked at him in confusion. ’Serena Lockwood already knows my identity, so Damian Rivers must know too. Why would he still come looking for me?’

"Why are you here?"

Damian Rivers said, "To find you, of course. I said it had to be the best two out of three."

After a moment of silence, Chloe Sterling asked directly, "Didn’t Mrs. Rivers tell you about me?"

"She did." Damian Rivers laughed enigmatically. "It’s just a transaction. What’s the big deal?"

"A transaction?"

"Isn’t it? No wedding, no public announcement. Isn’t that because your marriage is just a transaction?" Damian Rivers’s eyes glinted shrewdly as he looked at Chloe Sterling. He continued leisurely, "You’ve only been in Crestfall for half a year. After leaving the Sterling family, you turned around and married Jasper Lockwood, the head of the most powerful family in the city... Chloe, you really are one of a kind."

Chloe Sterling’s lips curved into a smile. "I suppose that interpretation is reasonable."

Damian Rivers added, "I know Jasper Lockwood is probably in it for the shares, but I’m especially curious... Chloe, what is it that you want? What do you hope to get from President Lockwood?"

"What does that have to do with you?"

Damian Rivers looked at her and said seriously, "Chloe, liking him is an even worse choice."

Chloe Sterling said coolly, "Young Master Rivers, whether it’s a good choice or not has nothing to do with you."

"I’m concerned about you. You don’t know Jasper Lockwood at all. He might be a little taller and better-looking, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be a good partner." After a pause, Damian Rivers added, "Besides, I’m a handsome, six-foot-one guy myself, you know!"

Chloe Sterling: "Not as handsome as Jasper Lockwood."

Damian Rivers: "Then you have bad taste!"

Chloe Sterling glanced at the time on her phone, her patience wearing thin. "Get out of my way. If you keep blocking me, don’t blame me for what happens next."

Damian Rivers knew he was no match for her in a fight, but he still refused to move. "Are you going to lunch? Let’s go together. My treat. We can have a proper talk..."

Before he could finish, Chloe Sterling shoved him aside and walked away.

Damian Rivers watched her retreating figure, his eyes filled with frustration. ’He never imagined that Chloe Sterling was the woman Jasper Lockwood was rumored to have married.’

Jasper Lockwood sat in his car, having witnessed the entire exchange.

The distance was too great for him to hear their conversation, but he could clearly see that Chloe Sterling and Damian Rivers knew each other.

Just then, two female students passed by, whispering to each other.

"Isn’t that Young Master Rivers? He’s here for Chloe Sterling again. He’s pretty persistent."

"It must be nice to be that pretty. She has so many guys chasing her."

"Yeah, first Young Master Xavier, and now Young Master Rivers. She’s probably spoiled for choice."

The other girl giggled. "If it were me, I’d take them both. They’re both so handsome, after all!"

"Haha, you’re so shameless."

"I’m just saying. It’s not a crime."

Henry Chamberlain muttered, ’Are all girls so boy-crazy these days?’

Jasper Lockwood pressed his lips together, his handsome face unreadable.

Feeling a chilling aura emanating from behind him, Henry Chamberlain cautiously turned his head. "Sir, should we follow your wife? Or should we go after that Rivers kid?"

Jasper Lockwood had originally planned to wait for Chloe Sterling to come down so they could have lunch together, but she had told him she already had plans.

Chloe Sterling just smiled and said nothing more.

Before long, the table was laden with various cuts of meat, and the two began to grill and eat.

Maya Jacobs popped a piece of meat into her mouth, savoring it. "The new project starts next week. We’re about to get busy again."
