On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 125: A Discovery
Leaving the competition venue, Esther Sterling got into her family’s car and immediately had the driver take her to the Rivers Family estate.
News that Esther Sterling had been injured after being set up by another contestant had already spread online. The girl who framed her was being relentlessly flamed by her fans and other netizens.
Ruby Lynch saw the news online and was just about to call Esther Sterling when she saw her limping into the villa.
"Esther, you’re really hurt."
Ruby Lynch immediately went to help Esther to the sofa. "Is it serious? Did you go to the hospital?"
"It’s fine. It’s not that serious."
"Does President Sinclair know you were injured?" Ruby Lynch asked.
Esther Sterling suddenly smiled and nodded. "Yes, he knows. He even came over personally. And it was on President Sinclair’s orders that the woman was disqualified and the whole incident was made public."
Hearing this, Ruby Lynch was both shocked and delighted. "President Sinclair handled it himself? He cares about you that much! Did he do anything else when he saw you were hurt?"
"With so many people watching, what could he do? But he did go to the audience to watch my performance. I think he must care about me."
Ruby Lynch nodded. "That’s wonderful. You could say it’s a blessing in disguise."
"Auntie, I have to win first place in this competition. No matter what it takes, I must get more opportunities to get close to President Sinclair."
"Don’t worry, I’ve already sounded out Director Sheffield. First place is pretty much guaranteed to be yours."
"I don’t want ’pretty much,’ it has to be me." Recalling what Tristan Sinclair had said in the lounge, Esther Sterling frowned and added, "Auntie, you don’t know, but that Claire White was deliberately showing off in front of President Sinclair today. He had a good evaluation of her performance, too, and he even told Director Sheffield to be fair and impartial."
"Claire White?" Ruby Lynch thought for a moment, then remembered who she was. A malicious glint flashed in her eyes. "Don’t you worry. Auntie will take care of her for you."
At her words, the frown on Esther Sterling’s face smoothed away, and she chuckled. "Thank you, Auntie."
"No need to be so polite with your auntie." Ruby Lynch laughed lightly. "Why didn’t you tell your mother about this first?"
"My mom doesn’t have your methods. If you hadn’t helped me before, that bitch Chloe Sterling would have been the death of me. Once I’m with President Sinclair, I’ll make that bitch’s life a living hell!"
Ruby Lynch smiled. "That day will come."
「Two days later.」
Chloe Sterling went to visit Jean Kensington and the baby.
The moment the door opened, Jean Kensington said, "What have you been so busy with these days? You finally remembered us."
Her tone was like that of a wife complaining about her workaholic husband.
Just then, a man in a delivery uniform appeared behind Chloe Sterling. He gave Jean Kensington a strange look, then glanced at Chloe, and asked, "Miss, should I bring this inside?"
As he spoke, he pointed to a large box behind him.
Chloe Sterling replied calmly, "Yes, bring it in."
"Okay." The man picked up the large box, carried it into the house, and then left.
Staring at the huge box, Jean Kensington asked, "What’s this?"
"A kid-sized Ferrari. It’s for the baby."
Jean Kensington raised an eyebrow. "A toy car?"
Chloe Sterling said, "It’s a ride-on, the kind you can drive around the apartment or the neighborhood."
Hearing the commotion, the baby ran out from his room. "Godmom!"
Chloe Sterling beckoned to the little guy. "Come here, son. Look at the car your godmom got you."
The little guy came running on his short legs, asking curiously, "A car for me?"
"Mhm, it’s just like the one we saw another kid driving in the neighborhood. Godmom bought you a Ferrari. When you’re all grown up, I’ll buy you a real one."
The baby’s lips curved into a smile. "Thank you, Godmom."
Chloe Sterling pinched his little cheek. "Let Godmom open it for you."
The baby nodded. "Okay."
As Chloe Sterling unboxed it, she said, "Orchid Labs has already finalized next year’s limited-edition new product. Do you want to go to the launch event?"
Jean Kensington came over to help her and, hearing the question, shook her head. "Nope."
The answer was expected. Neither of them liked to join crowds. Chloe added, "I’ll set one aside for you, then."
Jean Kensington smiled. "Okay."
The packaging was quite secure, but they finally finished unpacking it. A brand-new mini Ferrari emerged from the box.
Jean Kensington immediately crouched down and said to the baby, "Son, you can drive this car, but no modifications, and don’t go anywhere dangerous."
The baby nodded. "Okay."
Chloe Sterling raised an eyebrow. "This kid’s car can be modified?"
Jean Kensington said, "Other kids can’t, but Adrian Kensington can."
Chloe Sterling looked at the little guy and gave him a thumbs-up. "Awesome."
The baby said, "Mommy, I won’t modify it. Don’t worry."
"Such a good boy." Jean Kensington patted her son’s head. "Go on and play, then."
The apartment was large enough that driving the kid’s car around inside was no problem at all.
Watching her son play happily, Jean Kensington’s face showed a trace of worry.
Noticing this, Chloe Sterling asked, "What’s wrong? Why the long face?"
Jean Kensington said in a low voice, "I discovered something recently."
"What is it?"
"The baby is secretly looking for his father."
Chloe Sterling: "...Did he find him?"
"No, not yet. It’s not that easy." After a pause, Jean Kensington said softly, "Chloe, am I being too selfish? Depriving the baby of his right to a father’s love."
She had never looked for the baby’s father. She couldn’t face the memory of that night, nor could she face a strange, unknown man, so she had always deliberately pushed those thoughts away. But she had ignored the baby’s feelings. Every child wants to be loved by their mother and father, and he was no exception.
But at the thought of that night, the color drained from Jean Kensington’s face. "But I really don’t want to... to go looking for that man!"
Seeing her somewhat pale face, Chloe Sterling took her hand and said gently, "That’s not selfish. You’re already doing a great job. Even if you found him, there’s no guarantee he would accept all of this, and even less of a guarantee that he could give the baby the fatherly love he wants."
After calming down for a moment, Jean Kensington suddenly said, "What if... I find the baby a stepfather?"
Chloe Sterling: "Uh... I guess that’s an option, but you have to make sure you like the guy and that he’ll genuinely be good to the baby."
Jean Kensington’s hope deflated instantly. "That feels a little difficult."
After a moment’s thought, Chloe Sterling said, "Why don’t you consider Chase Langdon? My senior’s character is absolutely solid, and he really likes the baby."
Jean Kensington: "There’s absolutely no spark between us. We’re just bros, okay!"
Chloe Sterling: "..."
Jean Kensington ran a hand through her hair. "Forget it, forget it. Let’s not talk about this. I’ll just take it one step at a time."
At noon, the two of them took the baby out to eat.
While waiting for their food, Jean Kensington got up to go to the restroom.
Chloe Sterling was looking after the baby by herself, pouring him a glass of juice.
Just then, Tristan Sinclair walked into the restaurant with several subordinates. Noticing the pair, Tristan said to the men beside him, "You guys go on ahead. I’ll be there in a moment."
"Yes, President Sinclair."
The men headed to a private room.
Tristan Sinclair’s lips curved into a smile as he walked toward Chloe Sterling and the baby.
