On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 107: A Poisonous Rose with Thorns
Chloe Sterling took a step forward, approaching Silas Coldwell, and said, "You forced my hand." With that, she waved her hand lightly in front of his face.
A faint fragrance wafted toward him. Silas Coldwell immediately felt his limbs go weak, and the ring in his hand instantly fell to the ground. Just as he was about to lose his balance, a bodyguard rushed over to support him.
"Chloe Sterling!" Silas Coldwell’s face darkened as he roared in anger.
Chloe Sterling’s expression was calm. She said to the bodyguard, "Take your boss away. Remember to cover his face. Wouldn’t want him to lose his prestigious reputation."
The bodyguard was furious but didn’t dare to speak. After all, even his incredibly powerful boss couldn’t handle this woman. If he tried to force things, it would be suicide. So, he obediently helped his boss back to the car.
The jaws of the people around them nearly hit the floor.
"What did Chloe Sterling do? What happened to that man?"
"Sh-sh-she just waved her hand in front of his face, and it was like he lost all his strength."
"A... a drug? That’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone reject a suitor like that. It’s kind of terrifying!"
Everyone knew Chloe Sterling was a strong fighter, but they never expected her to have a trick like this up her sleeve for when she faced someone even stronger.
A true poisonous rose, thorns and all!
Chloe Sterling bent down and picked up the ring from the ground. When the bodyguard got out to close the trunk, she handed the ring to him. "This belongs to your boss."
The bodyguard glanced at his boss in the car, whose face was as dark as a thundercloud. He hesitated for a moment before taking the ring, then got back in the car and left.
Amidst the astonished crowd, Chloe Sterling and Julian Xavier walked toward the lab.
"Chloe, who was that man just now? What... did you do to him?" Julian Xavier was also a bit surprised. It was the first time he had seen Chloe Sterling use such a method.
After a moment’s pause, Chloe Sterling said, "He’s not from Crestfall. I just used a little Enchanting Fragrance."
"Did you develop it yourself?"
"Mhm."
Julian Xavier suddenly chuckled. "You don’t use that trick on everyone who bothers you, do you?"
Chloe Sterling said leisurely, "Not necessarily. Sometimes I’m a bit more direct and just beat them down."
’Since I can’t beat Silas Coldwell in a fight, this was my only option.’
Julian Xavier: "..."
’Good thing he only thought of her as a little sister and never had any inappropriate ideas.’
In the car, Silas Coldwell was so angry he could have ground his teeth to dust. In his entire life, the only person he had ever stumbled before was Chloe Sterling, yet he was still completely helpless against her.
’He’d found so many Pharmacists, and every single one of them talked a big game, but they were all useless in the end. Not one could crack her Enchanting Fragrance. If he could just neutralize this damn Enchanting Fragrance, taking her with him would be a piece of cake.’
The bodyguard was driving and asked cautiously, "Boss, are you... feeling any better?"
Silas Coldwell’s face was grim. He pressed his lips together and said nothing.
Seeing this, the bodyguard didn’t dare to make another sound.
After about half an hour, strength gradually returned to Silas Coldwell’s limbs. He ripped the sunglasses off his face, his expression still full of hostility.
"Send me that photo from earlier!"
He spoke so suddenly that the bodyguard jumped. "Yes, sir," he replied immediately. The car stopped at a red light, and the bodyguard quickly picked up his phone and sent him the photo.
Silas Coldwell received the photo and opened it. His deep eyes stared quietly at the image of himself and Chloe Sterling.
The more he looked, the more he felt that this woman should belong to him, not Jasper Lockwood. His eyes grew deeper and darker, his possessiveness and competitive drive thoroughly ignited.
The car pulled into the villa’s driveway and stopped.
His subordinate, Zane Stratton, immediately came over and opened the car door. "Boss, you’re back."
Silas Coldwell got out of the car with a grim face, not saying a word.
Seeing this, Zane Stratton glanced at the bodyguard who got out of the car after Silas. The bodyguard remained silent; of course, he wouldn’t dare say anything that would damage the boss’s image in front of him.
"Have you found a new Pharmacist?" Silas Coldwell suddenly asked.
Zane Stratton replied at once, "We have. He’s inside waiting for you."
"How confident is he that he can crack Lynn Chester’s Enchanting Fragrance?"
"He said he’s ninety percent confident."
"Hmph. They all say that." Silas Coldwell’s eyes narrowed. "Not a single one of them has been any use," he said in a low voice.
Zane Stratton looked awkward. He quickly added, "This one really seems to have some skill. Boss, why don’t you meet with him first?"
Silas Coldwell started walking toward the villa, and the other two immediately followed.
「Lockwood Group.」
Henry Chamberlain walked into the CEO’s office, cautiously observing the big boss’s expression. "Second Master."
Jasper Lockwood’s gaze was fixed on his computer screen. "What is it?" he asked faintly.
"Uh..." Henry Chamberlain chose his words carefully before replying, "Silas Coldwell is back in Crestfall. He... he went to The Medical College to see the Madam again."
’He really didn’t dare to mention that Silas Coldwell had shown up with a trunk full of roses and publicly declared his love for Chloe Sterling with a diamond ring.’
Hearing this, Jasper Lockwood’s gaze darkened, and his eyes shifted to him. "When?"
"Just this afternoon. But the Madam’s attitude toward him was as cold as ever. Not only did she get physical, but she also used the Enchanting Fragrance on him. Silas Coldwell had to be helped back to his car by his bodyguards."
"Why did Chloe get physical? What did he do?"
"Er... The Madam has a bit of a temper, you know. She probably hates that Silas Coldwell keeps pestering her. That’s likely why she used the Enchanting Fragrance on him—to humiliate him in public so he won’t dare to show his face again."
Jasper Lockwood scoffed. "If a single dose of Enchanting Fragrance was enough to stop him, he wouldn’t be in Crestfall right now."
Henry Chamberlain: "..."
Just then, Jasper Lockwood’s phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number.
He recognized it as Silas Coldwell’s number at a glance—he had investigated it before. Jasper Lockwood’s phoenix eyes narrowed as he picked up his phone and opened the message. A photo immediately filled his screen.
Jasper Lockwood’s handsome face instantly darkened.
Seeing the sudden change in his expression, Henry Chamberlain didn’t know what was going on, but he had a bad feeling.
Sure enough, the next moment, Jasper Lockwood’s gaze, sharp as a blade, shot toward him. Henry Chamberlain’s heart trembled, and he felt the surrounding temperature plummet. An icy chill shot up from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
Jasper Lockwood’s thin lips parted, his voice cold and chilling. "Henry Chamberlain, you dare to hide things from me now!"
Henry Chamberlain glanced at his phone. ’That message must have been serious,’ he thought. ’It must be about Silas Coldwell and Chloe Sterling. The boss knows what happened at The Medical College.’ He quickly bowed his head. "I was wrong, sir. I just didn’t want you to be upset after finding out."
"How thoughtful of you!"
Feeling his boss’s fury, Henry Chamberlain felt his knees go weak.
"What exactly did Silas Coldwell do at The Medical College? Speak!"
They had people keeping an eye on The Medical College, so Henry Chamberlain knew everything that had happened that day. He didn’t dare hide anything more and recounted every detail: how Silas Coldwell had a trunk full of roses, a banner that read "Chloe Sterling, I love you," and how he had presented her with a diamond ring in public.
’With every word he spoke, his despair grew, and he could almost feel his boss’s murderous intent.’
After finishing his trembling account, Henry Chamberlain cautiously lifted his head to glance at his boss.
The man’s handsome face was inscrutable, revealing not a single trace of emotion.
