Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Why are you blaming us, old man? It is simply because of Wei Ranshu

Lin Huahua had just found out she also had a tail and ears. And yes that was questionable, because she has been in this world for a few hours.

Yet she somehow never noticed it. She stared at her reflection in the water and she could not help but be fascinated by her cute white rat ears.

They were fluffy, and fun to poke out. She also had a long white tail that was really pretty.

Maybe next Halloween I should tell dad to make me such a cute realistic costume.

While Lin Huahua was busy admiring her new look she failed to see her males and a few people who had come along with her father staring at her like she was crazy.

"Did our princess hit her head?" One of the guards who had come with Lin Huahua’s father asked the other one by his side.

And the other one replied "No, her males must have neglected her again and now she has finally gone crazy"

They were still gossiping when their king shot them a side glance and they both kept quite immediately.

"Lin Huahua!" Her father barked making her flinch and realized people were still around her.

Lin Huahua moved back from the water and finally took in her environment. It was simply because she had seen this her rat father in this world.

She immediately realized she too had animal features.

"Hua, do you want me to die early! Why would you run away from the village again, you know how dangerous it is for a female to be out alone in the forest. What if Mu Qingyi had been late to save you! What would I say to your mother?!" Lin Weishan shook with anger as he spoke.

It was clear that he cared greatly about his daughter and did not want to see harm come to her.

Lin Huahua at the moment did not know how to respond. She planned on leaving this simulation soon. But for now while she was still stuck here she could try fixing her relationships.

At that moment, she saw Mu Qingyi in the far distance approaching with what look like a dead animal and she almost screamed was remember that that would be the wrong reaction.

Then she turned back to her father "Pa— I mean father I am sorry, I won’t run away from home next time" Lin Huahua said softly bowing her head.

"Must you be so stu— What?" Lin Weishan started screaming again ready to scold Lin Huahua but he froze the moment he realized that Lin Huahua had not went against him.

Instead she accepted she was wrong and apologized?!

Everyone froze from shock even the guards looked at their princess like she was crazy. Did she just apologize?

"I told you she must have hit her head" one of them said.

Hu Baiyu, Feng Yiren and even Mu Qingyi who had just arrived looked at her like they were seeing a ghost.

Lin Huahua looked behind her, were were they all looking at her like she was crazy?

Lin Weishan lost his balance because the shock was too much for him to bear. But the next moment he turned his attention to the males by Lin Huahua’s side.

"Y-you, what have you three done to my precious daughter?!" He screamed with anger and almost lounged at them.

Thank Heavens Lin Huahua was quick to react and stand in front of the men protectively.

"Ah father! They did nothing wrong to me, do attack my mates!" Lin Huahua had a protective stance as she stood with her arms spread at front of the males.

Lin Weishan had been preparing himself to explode at the three males again, but the moment Lin Huahua stepped forward with her small arms spread out and her eyes wide with determination, his entire body froze.

"You... you are protecting them?" he whispered under his breath, sounding like someone whose entire worldview had just been kicked.

The anger on his face slowly collapsed into something complicated. It was almost as if someone had slapped him with a new reality that he did not know how to process.

Has my daughter finally grown up? Or is the sun rising from the west today?

His chest tightened with a strange flutter of hope. He almost placed a hand over his heart to check if it was still beating correctly.

Hu Baiyu, stared at Lin Huahua with eyes that trembled slightly. There was a soft, almost questioning rumble in his throat.

"Rrr..."

He leaned forward a little, his blue eyes shining.

She is... protecting me? Is this real? Or did blood loss make me hallucinate something beautiful?

Even his tail made a tiny movement behind him, twitching with happiness. He desperately wanted to rest his head on her lap, but he held back.

Feng Yiren, the fox, immediately narrowed his eyes at Lin Huahua. His ears perked, then slowly flattened with suspicion.

"...What are you doing, female?" he muttered quietly, not loud enough for her father to hear but loud enough for Baiyu and Mu Qingyi to catch.

His fox tail flicked sharply behind him.

He leaned closer to Hu Baiyu and whispered, "She is acting weird. Very weird. I do not trust it."

Why is she suddenly soft? Why is she suddenly sweet? What trick is she planning? I know females. This is suspicious...

Mu Qingyi, who had returned from hunting, stared at her with his jaw slightly open.

"Hua’er...?" he said softly, genuinely lost. "You... you are protecting us?"

The hunted animal nearly fell from his grasp because his hands were shaking. His eyes filled with emotion he could not describe.

Is she finally accepting us? Or is this another dream? Please do not be a dream. Please let this be real.

Lin Weishan was still processing everything when Feng Yiren suddenly muttered under his breath, clearly annoyed.

"Why are you blaming us, old man? It is simply because of Wei Ranshu."

Lin Huahua blinked rapidly and turned toward him with confusion written all over her face.

"Why... did you bring up that peacock?" she whispered. "What does he have to do with anything?"

Tsk, Is he trying to create trouble? Is he trying to pull me into something? This fox is dangerous. Someone remove him. Why is he smiling like that?

Her father’s eyes darkened instantly. His expression shifted so violently that even the guards stepped back.

"You are still thinking about that peacock?" Lin Weishan asked, his voice trembling with suppressed irritation. "Fine. Since you want to have him, we are bringing him to you."

"Pa... what are you saying? I never said—" Lin Huahua tried to respond, but her voice was cut off.

At that exact moment, two guards emerged from behind the trees, dragging a man whose clothes were torn and feathers missing. His long hair was messy, his face covered in bruises, and his eyes dull with exhaustion.

The guards shoved him forward.

The man collapsed on the ground with a painful grunt.

Lin Huahua let out a small terrified squeak.

"Ah...!"

Her eyes widened in fear as she stumbled backward.

What... what is that thing? Why is he looking at me like that? Why does he look like he just fought ten dragons? That is not a normal peacock. That is a demon peacock. Nope. No thank you. Goodbye.

Without thinking, she grabbed Mu Qingyi and hid behind him like a frightened child.

Mu Qingyi stiffened, shocked again, but his body moved protectively on its own.

"It is alright, Huahua. You are safe," he whispered gently.

Lin Weishan looked at his daughter hiding and felt his soul leaving his body.

Is she scared of the peacock? Or is she suddenly attached to the deer? Why is today like this? Am I cursed?
