Official Career Storm-Chapter 1401
This thought, once it emerged, couldn't be repressed no matter what.
Although rationally he knew the possibility was very slim, thinking it over, this was the only thing they had been involved in recently.
Whether it is or isn't, it must be verified.
"Consul Cui, something just occurred to me."
"What is it?"
"That Song Guanchao..."
He told Cui Shibin about the threats Song Guanchao made that day.
After listening, Cui Shibin thought he must have gone mad.
"You're saying he not only knows Minister Zhang but can have him remove us all with just a phone call?"
"I..." Consul Park also felt what he said was too absurd: "But... there's nothing else going on recently except this. Moreover, he did actually say those words at the time."
"I, I think..."
The more he spoke, the weaker his tone became: "I think maybe we should ask, just in case?"
"Just in case?" Cui Shibin scoffed, about to refute it, but strangely, he felt there might indeed be such a possibility.
Just as he said, what if?
Cui Shibin pondered, "You go verify it."
"Alright!"
Consul Park breathed a sigh of relief; in fact, even if Cui Shibin had disagreed, he was still planning to go.
If it really involved Song Guanchao, things might still have a chance.
After parting from Cui Shibin, Consul Park called Jin Yongjun.
"Where are you?"
"At home."
"That Song Guanchao, which police station is he at?"
"What's happened?"
"Come to the consulate immediately, see Director Zhao first, then go to the police station with me."
"Director Zhao?"
Consul Park had no patience to explain further, hanging up right after he spoke.
Twenty minutes later, Jin Yongjun arrived.
When he walked out of the office with vacant eyes, Consul Park said, "Come with me."
Reaching the parking lot, Jin Yongjun asked, "Consul Park, what's going on?"
"I don't know," Consul Park replied, "Drive to the police station."
"Why are we going to the police station?"
"I suspect it's Song Guanchao's doing!"
"Him?"
Jin Yongjun looked full of confusion, thinking Consul Park must have gone mad.
Consul Park said, "He must have someone backing him."
He didn't really believe Song Guanchao knew Minister Zhang, that was too far-fetched.
Even if Song Guanchao held a high position, compared to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, they were worlds apart.
But he thought surely someone was backing Song Guanchao, otherwise how could he have spoken such threatening words?
Jin Yongjun wanted to say more, but Consul Park impatiently said, "Drive!"
"Oh."
Jin Yongjun didn't dare to speak further, quietly driving to the police station.
Director Li's face turned into a fawning smile the moment he saw them, looking nauseatingly obsequious.
"Consul Park, Consul Jin, what brings you two here?" Director Li said, slightly bent over, as if acting inferior.
Consul Park said, "Bring Song Guanchao over, I have something to ask him."
"Sure, sure, have a seat and a cup of tea, I'll bring him right over."
Director Li arranged for the two to sit in a small meeting room, pouring them tea, serving them well.
They were feeling impatient but couldn't say anything.
Song Guanchao was leaning in the holding room, chatting to kill time with other detainees.
A policeman came over, knocked on the door forcefully: "Song Guanchao, come out."
As soon as Song Guanchao stepped out, he was handcuffed. He didn't bother asking where the police were taking him; he had already guessed in his mind.
The police took him to a small meeting room, where Director Li came over and said expressionlessly: "The consulate's two consuls want to see you, better behave."
Song Guanchao looked him over, smiling with a hint of scorn: "Whether I'll behave or not, but surely their attitude will be good."
Director Li scoffed: "Of course! They're consuls of South Korea, far more refined than you."
"Heh." This guy was beyond help, still thinking foreigners were superior in this day and age, truly spineless.
Song Guanchao made no attempt to hide his disdain: "Director Li, you've been kneeling too long."
Director Li cursed: "Song Guanchao, you'd better behave yourself!"
If it weren't for Wu Qiangwei and Liang Jianfeng visiting last time, just for what Song Guanchao said, he would have shown him a thing or two!
"Hmph!"
Director Li glared fiercely at him before opening the door.
Facing Consul Park and another, he immediately put on a fawning smile: "Consul Park, Consul Jin, I've brought him over."
Worried that Song Guanchao might attack them, or say something unpleasant, he didn't leave after bringing him over.
But just as he sat down, he heard Consul Park say: "Director Li, there's something we need to discuss with him, please step outside."
Director Li said: "He's a criminal suspect, with a history of assault, I..."
"Please step outside," Consul Park interrupted him.
"Well... alright."
Director Li had intended to display his competence in front of them, but since they insisted, he couldn't stay.
Once Director Li closed the door, the two saw Song Guanchao lean back, putting his legs up on the table, clearly showing he didn't give them a second thought.
This immediately infuriated Jin Yongjun: "Put your legs down!"
"Shut up!" Consul Park barked, glaring at him.
Then, turning to Song Guanchao with a forced smile: "Mr. Song, have you been to South Korea?"
Song Guanchao didn't answer, instead asking: "Aren't you no longer consuls now?"
Hearing this, the two felt their minds explode.
They instantly realized they had made the right call coming here!
It was because of him that they were removed from their posts!
Their hearts were a mix of rage and relief.
Rage because of Song Guanchao's ruthless actions, relief because they finally found the cause!
Once their emotions settled, a faint fear arose again.
They suddenly realized the backing behind Song Guanchao must have terrifying power to directly contact Minister Zhang.
If they couldn't gain his forgiveness, they might never be reinstated.
And when they returned to South Korea, who knew how Minister Zhang would handle them?
Thinking of their precarious future, Jin Yongjun dared not put on any airs.
"Mr. Song, I apologize to you!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Jin Yongjun stood up immediately, bowing at ninety degrees with genuine sincerity.
Consul Park also bowed, apologizing.
Song Guanchao sneered: "Forgot what I said?"
They lifted their heads, remembering his words.
Realizing his anger hadn't subsided, they panicked: "Mr. Song, what will it take for you to forgive us?"
"Heh."
Song Guanchao didn't answer, his legs falling to the ground as he stood up and walked out.
Director Li was outside waiting; he seemed puzzled to see him come out so quickly.
The two followed from behind: "Mr. Song..."
Song Guanchao interrupted them: "I've given you chances, more than one. Since you wanted to fight me, take your losses."
With that, he headed back to the holding room.
The two gritted their teeth, realizing Song Guanchao wasn't going to forgive them, their hearts in chaos, unable to control their expressions.
Director Li stood in place, looking bewildered.
Why were these two consuls addressing Song Guanchao with such respect and humility?
What on earth had happened?
