Official Career Storm-Chapter 1394
Consul Cui Shibin and Consul Park sat down, Secretary Pan brewed two cups of tea, and then left the office.
Cui Shibin sipped at the hot air rising from his cup, not in a hurry to speak.
Zhou Zheng was the kind of person who couldn't hold things in, and he asked directly, "Is Consul Cui here about last night's incident?"
"Yes." Cui Shibin nodded slightly. "Secretary Zhou, do you know Song Guanchao?"
Zhou Zheng nodded, his expression serious, "I've already understood the situation, this matter..."
He hesitated for a moment, ultimately refraining from assigning blame, and instead turned the question to the other party, "How does Consul Cui propose to resolve this matter?"
If you really look at right and wrong, it's clearly Jin Yongjun's fault.
If he hadn't initiated harassment, there wouldn't have been any subsequent incidents.
But Song Guanchao directly hitting someone was clearly excessive as well.
However, Cui Shibin is a protective person; regardless of right and wrong, he only cares if his people were taken advantage of.
Moreover, as someone from the embassy, so what if his own people were at fault?
Only children distinguish between right and wrong.
Whoever has the bigger fist is the one with reason.
As the consul general, he wouldn't be afraid even facing the head of a provincial capital city, let alone the Provincial Committee Secretary.
After all, once this matter escalates, it becomes a diplomatic incident.
He knows too well the way officials in this country operate, everything is about maintaining stability.
Once it turns into a diplomatic incident, the main leaders of Jiangzhou City will inevitably be held accountable.
So, he felt very confident in his heart that no matter what demands he made, Zhou Zheng would not refuse.
Even if his demands were excessive!
"Consul Jin was assaulted, and the assailant must bear responsibility."
"I demand that the police arrest the assailant."
Zhou Zheng's heart sank, the situation had turned into the worst-case scenario.
Don't be fooled by him merely saying arrest, but under what circumstances would someone be arrested?
That would certainly be when a crime is committed.
In other words, once arrested, it would lead to prison time.
He wanted to see Song Guanchao imprisoned.
"I understand Consul Cui's request."
Zhou Zheng glanced at the time and said, "How about this, give me three days..."
Before he could finish speaking, Consul Park's phone suddenly rang.
Consul Park glanced at the caller ID and said, "It's Jin Yongjun."
Consul Cui gave a slight nod, and only then did Consul Park answer the call.
"Hello... okay, I understand."
A look of satisfaction spread across Consul Park's face as he hung up and said, "The police have already gone to make the arrest."
Arrest?
Zhou Zheng frowned, wanting to inquire further, but felt it inappropriate.
Inquiring about events in his governed city from someone at a foreign embassy was clearly unsuitable.
Consul Cui smiled, "Secretary Zhou, I hope you will handle this fairly."
"I will." Zhou Zheng's mind raced. If the police were making an arrest, there must be evidence.
If there was evidence proving that Song Guanchao indeed hit someone, then there was no need for him to continue being troubled.
Without lingering long, Consul Cui got up and left.
After they left, Zhou Zheng immediately called Liang Jianfeng.
"Director Liang, has Song Guanchao been arrested?"
"We're sending people over right now." Liang Jianfeng's tone was somber.
He had just received the phone call too.
The developments were unexpected.
Chairman Su of Jiang Shang No.1 had clearly sided with Wu Qiangwei, and all surveillance footage had been deleted.
The evidence of Song Guanchao hitting someone could not be found.
Logically, as long as the City Committee and Municipal Government supported Song Guanchao, no matter how much the Korean Embassy protested, Song Guanchao would be fine.
But just now, he received a call informing him that Jin Yongjun had taken a few of Wu Qiangwei's classmates to the police station.
Those classmates were willing to come forward as witnesses.
With witnesses, there was nothing that could be done.
He briefly explained the situation to Zhou Zheng, whose mood lifted, "Just follow the normal procedures then."
"I understand."
After hanging up, Zhou Zheng was in a good mood.
He had always been annoyed with Song Guanchao, but Governor Lu had a good impression of him.
Plus, with Wu Qiangwei in the picture, he hadn't continued to make things difficult for Song Guanchao.
Who would've thought, it was Song Guanchao himself who triggered the mine.
However, it's for the best.
A troublemaker should be removed from the team early, it's a good thing for everyone.
...
"Director Song, please come with us."
The police entered the office and addressed Song Guanchao.
Song Guanchao was not at all surprised, leisurely tidying up his documents, he said, "Give me a moment, I'll handle my work handover, you two please have a seat."
The two policemen did not make things difficult for him.
They were aware of the events.
In their hearts, they supported Song Guanchao.
To them, those South Koreans were too arrogant, harassing women on their home turf and getting beaten up by Song Guanchao, yet still had the face to call the police.
Song Guanchao's actions were pure heroism!
But there was nothing they could do; with people willing to testify, they had to grit their teeth and bear it.
Song Guanchao called over Zhou Xingjian, "Director Zhou, I'm going to the police station to cooperate with the investigation. During my absence, I'll hand over my work to you."
"I won't be going to the Secretary-General or Mayor Wu, please convey this to them later."
Zhou Xingjian looked dazed, "Director Song, what happened to you?"
How did you get the police involved?
"Just a minor issue." Song Guanchao smiled slightly, completed his instructions, and stood up, "Let's go."
Watching him leave with the police, Zhou Xingjian immediately ran to find Wu Qiangwei.
Wu Qiangwei had already received a call from Liang Jianfeng and knew what had happened.
After hearing Zhou Xingjian's report, Wu Qiangwei said calmly, "I know. You can go back to work."
"Alright." Zhou Xingjian was extremely curious.
He wanted to know what exactly happened to Song Guanchao.
After he left, Wu Qiangwei fidgeted with her phone, wanting to make a call a few times, but eventually putting it down.
Since Song Guanchao said he could handle it, she decided to trust him.
...
"Director Song, we're here."
The car stopped at Pingtan District Da Fang Road Police Station, where Jin Yongjun had reported to the police.
Song Guanchao got out of the car and headed to the police station entrance, where a middle-aged man in his forties came out to meet him.
Upon seeing Song Guanchao, he frowned and scolded the two policemen, "Why isn't he in handcuffs?"
The policemen were about to explain, but Director Li waved them off, "Put the cuffs on him!"
The two policemen felt awkward, but since he was the director, there wasn't much they could say.
They could only take out the handcuffs, "Director Song, please cooperate."
"Of course."
Song Guanchao cheerfully extended his hands, allowing the police to handcuff him.
He stared at Director Li for a few seconds, thinking to himself, Zhang Yan still has some remaining influence.
Jin Yongjun choosing to report at this particular police station must have been under Zhang Yan's directive.
"What are you looking at?" Director Li saw him staring and scolded.
Song Guanchao smiled, "Let me remind you, Director Li, I'm currently just a suspect and still under investigation. I'm still the director of the City Government Office."
"I see you're not young either, focus on being the head of this station, and don't involve yourself in things you shouldn't."
Director Li's eyebrows knitted, then he suddenly sneered, "You've offended the embassy's consul; do you think you can come out of this unscathed?"
Song Guanchao seriously replied, "Director Li, your words are inappropriate. What do you mean by offended? Why, in your eyes, are people from the Korean Embassy superior to you? Have you been a dog for so long that you can't act like a human?"
Director Li was stunned by the insult, then enraged, raising his hand to hit, "How dare a scum who's about to go to jail talk to me like that?"
The nearby policemen quickly stepped in to separate them.
"Director Li, this is the lobby, and there are cameras."
The officer's words made Director Li restrain himself slightly.
He pointed at Song Guanchao, sneering viciously, "Let's see how you end up!"
