Chapter 826: Chapter 822: Why Do You Only Come at Night?

Alexander’s small body blocked the doorway, and although it was no real barrier, he stubbornly stood there for quite a while.

"What’s this? Not planning to let me in?" Asher Land leaned down with interest, looking at the little guy with a stubborn face.

"Uncle, why do you always come in the evenings?" Alexander pouted his little mouth.

"Don’t you worry about me." Even to a five-year-old, Asher Land’s arrogant and domineering aura was unmistakable.

Sophie Smith was genuinely afraid of the interaction between the two fathers and sons, and she tugged on Asher Land’s sleeve, signaling him to be more mindful in his speech.

"Alexander, make way, we need to go in." Sophie coaxed softly, "Didn’t you promise mommy that you wouldn’t make her sad and disappointed anymore?"

Alexander fiddled with his little head. Yes, he knew his mommy liked his uncle, and not wanting to disappoint her, he shouldn’t oppose him.

After much consideration, Alexander finally moved his small body aside, making a path for Asher Land.

Asher Land strode into the living room, his tall, straight back and cold, unfeeling demeanor giving the impression of a returning king. His aura was so strong that most people would back off, but Sophie, used to being around him, didn’t find it unusual. However, it was different for Alexander. Even though it was his home, when Asher Land stood there, he felt restrained and didn’t dare to approach.

Asher Land looked at Alexander standing behind him, unable to help but frown.

Did he really look that intimidating?

He sought an answer from Sophie, who sincerely nodded her head.

He scanned the room and noticed a partially assembled racing car toy on the coffee table.

The assembly seemed to be in trouble, with evident signs of taking apart and putting back together.

He walked over, half-bending his tall stature, casually picked up some small racing car parts, and set to work.

When Alexander saw Asher Land assembling the racing car, his little eyes were immediately drawn to him.

His steps involuntarily moved toward Asher Land; at first, he stood beside him, but then, feeling standing was a bit tiring, he sat on the floor, propping his head with his little hand, watching every step Asher Land took in assembling the car with utmost focus and attention.

Sophie felt relieved and happy to see the father and son getting along so harmoniously for once.

While Sophie was cooking in the kitchen, Asher Land, having finished assembling the car for Alexander, suddenly came over.

Seeing her earnestly preparing a meal for him and their son, he couldn’t help but let a smile play on his lips.

Though her actions seemed awkward, she still put her heart into it.

She appeared a bit overwhelmed and couldn’t manage everything at once, prompting Asher Land to step in and leisurely watch her for a while.

"Is there anything you need help with?"

"Are you sure you can help me?" Sophie shook her head, "You better leave, I can manage on my own."

"Don’t trust me that much?" he raised an eyebrow.

"..."

Indeed, she didn’t trust him much.

As it turned out, Sophie’s intuition was correct; she shouldn’t have trusted Asher Land. However, seeing his vowed, confident look, she reluctantly assigned him a simple task.

"Chop the peppers." Sophie placed a few washed green peppers on the cutting board and handed him the knife.

So, Young Master Land ’obediently’ complied, but not three seconds later...
