Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 714 - 710 He Really Disappeared (3)
"If you have something to say, just say it." Sophie’s voice was calm and distant, with a hint of unreality.
"Miss Smith, I’m not trying to discourage you, but your so-called search is like finding a needle in a haystack. You said someone took Third Young Master Land, then whoever could take him must be powerful and influential, right?"
Indeed, Irene Morton had the support of the formidable Morton Clan Group.
Moreover, even Nolan Davis and Luke Land hadn’t found Asher Land’s whereabouts. How could she dare to imagine accomplishing it by herself?
The reason they let her come to the United States alone was simply to make her give up. She couldn’t find Asher Land.
She painfully closed her eyes, tears rolling down from the corner. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
This is truly something beyond others’ empathy. How helpless and desperate she felt inside—how many people knew?
Events unfolded too quickly, catching everyone off guard. Has he really disappeared from her sight like this?
Her fingers clutched tightly around the seatbelt, her lips pale.
How could he be so heartless, leaving her like that?
...
She never gave up searching, and complete disappointment came half a month later.
In those two weeks, Nicole Chapman accompanied her to every major hospital, only to be met with apologetic ’sorry’ from everyone.
She sat on the floor of the hotel room, lights off, hugging her knees and burying her head in her arms.
In the silent night, her faint sobs seemed audible.
In her mind, his image appeared intermittently. She tried to grasp it; whenever she got close, he vanished again.
Uncertain of how long had passed, her crying turned to sleep because his presence was in her dreams. She wished never to wake, at least there, she could feel him, better than waking to emptiness.
Some people may never imagine what it’s like to lose the one closest and dearest, but fate seemed enamored with her, granting her repeated ’experiences.’
First was her mother, followed by her father, and now, ...
It was his turn.
The man who cherished and adored her might never appear in front of her again in this lifetime.
No more bickering every so often, no temper fits without reason, and no more playful antics or defiant behavior.
She truly was not accustomed to it.
After sitting for a long while, she finally stood up.
She picked up the coat from the hanger and left the room.
Taking advantage of the cold evening wind, she wandered alone on the deserted street. The fierce wind tangled her hair, and though her body was nearly frozen, she felt numb.
The roadway was slightly slippery, perhaps due to recent snow. A sedan lost control, veering off the lane, heading in her direction.
She froze where she stood, not intending to move.
An earsplitting screech of brakes filled the air; the car made an emergency stop, and yet inevitably hit her.
"Sorry, are you alright?" The driver hurriedly got out, eyes full of guilt.
Blood seeped from her knee, and she struggled to support herself, hands resting on the sedan’s hood, wincing in pain.
"I’ll take you to the hospital right away." The driver attempted to help her into the car, but she firmly refused.
