Chapter 120: Chapter 118 Inhumanity [1 more update]
"Mm! I came to check on you." Jane Spencer looked at the girl’s panicked expression and pretended to answer nonchalantly.
Yet, her heart was as clear as a mirror. Maya Spencer’s reflexive behavior completely gave them away. If nothing had happened between them, why would Maya instinctively pull the blanket over her body upon hearing her voice? It seemed that they had indeed crossed the final line.
As a result, her gaze immediately turned to Liam Spencer, looking quite sour, as if questioning him about his intentions.
Liam Spencer met his sister’s gaze with indifference, raised his right hand, and gently ruffled Maya’s hair, speaking softly, "The ship will dock in an hour, get up quickly and get ready."
However, he fully understood what his sister’s gaze was conveying. It was merely her observing Maya’s actions and deducing what they had done. So be it! If she dared to ask, he dared to admit it. He had always been a man who owned up to his actions.
Maya listened to his reminder, her eyes darting around, noticing that both she and Liam were fully dressed, realizing she had overreacted. She tried to appear calm, lifted the blanket, put on her slippers, and responded with a simple "Mm!"
Then she looked at Liam and said, "Thank you for last night, Third Brother."
"Mm!" The man responded softly, accepting her gratitude. He thought she was thanking him for jumping into the water to save her last night, not knowing she was grateful for him taking her into his room, preventing her from being harmed while unconscious again.
Jane Spencer watched their harmonious interaction, feeling quite awkward for them, wondering if they themselves didn’t feel that it was inappropriate for siblings to sleep in the same bed?
Not wanting to continue witnessing their couple-like exchange, she said a bit unhappily, "You two carry on, I’m going out."
"Take care, Sis!" Maya cheerfully ushered her out, eager for her to leave quickly. Liam remained unresponsive.
After she left, Maya exploded, grabbing the man’s wrist, questioning him, "Liam, are you crazy? I’m still sleeping in your bed, how could you open the door for Sis? You should at least wake me up and let me hide!"
The man looked at Maya’s futile complaints, shook off her small hand that was gripping his wrist, reached out his long arm, quickly embraced her waist, pulling her into his arms, staring down at her eyes, he commanded, "Call me Third Brother!"
He didn’t like her calling him by name so recklessly, especially with such force.
Maya, staring into the man’s unfurious eyes, was unwilling to compromise, still pouting, she looked up at him and complained, "What if Sis finds out, we’re done for. You should’ve woken me up to hide."
Little did Maya know, last night Liam carried her into his room in front of everyone. What’s the point in hiding? It would be redundant.
Liam looked at the girlish sparkle in her eyes, listening to her soft voice, it melted his heart. Holding her waist with his left hand, he pinched her chin with his right hand, lowering and touching her lips, he said, "I’ve said it before, in my room, there’s no need to hide."
"Liam, can’t you have some decency? Didn’t you see that even Sister Jane was embarrassed for us?" Maya turned her head, avoiding his lips, to show her displeasure.
The man watched her little move, repositioned her face, bit her lip, and commanded, "Call me Third Brother!"
Maya gave in, not understanding why when it came to their relationship, they were never on the same page.
Feeling the man holding her tighter and seeing the fiery gaze in his eyes, Maya swallowed nervously, cautiously uttering, "Third Brother!"
"Mm!" From his tone, Maya could sense that he was in a good mood today. Yet, she didn’t know that it was because she had awakened safely, and the heavy weight on his heart had finally lifted.
Then, Liam released her chin, lifted his right hand to the back of her head, pressing her small face against his chest, holding her tightly.
Leaning into Liam’s embrace, Maya could even hear his heartbeat. At that moment, her arms hung awkwardly, with nowhere to place them. The man’s inexplicable tender embrace embarrassed her. It didn’t fit their relationship because this embrace was too gentle, without any other intentions, just a simple embrace, with no prelude to anything else.
After a while, Maya raised her small hands, placing them on his waist, giving him a slight push, her face slightly red, she reminded, "I need to go back to my room to pack my things."
In truth, she had nothing to pack; she just wanted to avoid Liam.
But the man completely ignored her request, hugging her tighter, toppling over onto the large bed behind them, pressing his face against hers, saying, "Stay and sleep with me."
Last night, upon hearing the news of her falling into the sea, he was terrified and watched over her all night, now physically exhausted. Seeing her well, made him sleepy.
In an instant, Maya was dumbfounded, wondering if this man even had any humanity left. She had just escaped the jaws of death last night, and he wouldn’t even let her catch her breath. Couldn’t he wait for a day? Why insist on sleeping with her now? She was unhappy!
Finally, Maya’s displeasure was written all over her face, raising her hands and pressing them against his chest, she coldly said, "I just returned from the gates of hell, can’t you let me catch my breath?"
The man looked at her cold little face, his mood naturally sour, yet he couldn’t bring himself to be angry at her, recalling how she had said she was scared last night. His anger dissipated, he removed her hands from his chest, hugged her tightly, and planted a kiss on her small face, saying, "What are you thinking? I stayed up all night and I’m tired."
"Oh!" Suddenly, Maya became shy as she realized she had overthought, her face blushing even more.
Liam watched her shy face, rolled off her, hugging her close, resting his chin on her head, gently closing his eyes, starting to fall asleep. With her by his side, he felt at ease.
However, the girl nestled in Liam’s arms was wide awake, her mind a whirlwind of chaotic thoughts, too many concerns to consider. Who exactly threw her into the sea last night? How should she explain her relationship with Liam to Sis?
Maya wasn’t really afraid of her relationship with someone being exposed as shameful, but she feared being expelled from the Spencer Family by her grandfather. All her efforts over more than a year would be in vain. Therefore, she had to be cautious.
Thinking about these troubling matters, time flew by, and the yacht prepared to dock. She nudged Liam awake, and they quickly changed clothes, ready to disembark.
Maya opened the door, only to be met with a slap from Madam Reid, who was blocking the doorway.
Instantly, Maya was stunned, wondering if Madam Reid was avenging Sienna Carter.
