No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1949: Hayes Edwards Extra (106)
The score on the court was very close, and the cheers off the court never stopped.
This atmosphere made Grace Winter feel excited as well, yelling together with everyone at the court, "Hayes, go for it!"
There were many people cheering for Hayes Edwards around her, especially a few girls in the front row, yet Grace’s shout of "Hayes" was particularly special.
Hayes Edwards wasn’t known for having a good temper; he was cold and was rumored to be a "kindergarten bully" since kindergarten. No matter how handsome he might be, no one dared to provoke him easily.
Let alone give him a nickname.
Even the nickname "campus heartthrob Edwards" was only called in private.
So Grace Winter’s shout of "Hayes" appeared particularly abrupt.
It seemed that Hayes on the basketball court heard her voice too. He turned and looked over, and in the audience, as if sensing her, he immediately saw Grace Winter waving at him.
For a moment, his heartbeat stopped, then was wrapped in joy after the surprise, and a smile instantly spread across his face.
Many people in the front row followed his gaze, and seeing it was a girl, they couldn’t help but feel surprised and envious.
"That must be campus heartthrob Edwards’ girlfriend. Never seen her at our school."
"This one’s prettier than the school beauty from next door who confessed last month. Who said campus heartthrob Edwards’ girlfriend wasn’t good-looking?"
"Wasn’t everyone on the forum saying handsome guys can’t get beautiful girlfriends and that campus heartthrob Edwards’ girlfriend must be ugly and plain? This is an awkward slap in the face."
The whistle blew, signaling halftime.
Hayes Edwards didn’t even drink water and ran directly to the audience seats, and Grace Winter ran to the barrier, looking down at him, making a megaphone with her hands and said, "Hayes, play well, I’m cheering for you."
Hayes looked up at her, noticing the dimples on her cheeks, feeling as if he was soaked in a jar of honey, "Okay, I’ll win first place for you!"
Today happened to be the final basketball game, with the two previous winners competing for first place.
Halftime ended, and Hayes Edwards returned to his position.
In the second half, Hayes scored repeatedly, hitting two consecutive three-pointers, completely suppressing the opposing players.
The game was exhilarating and satisfying.
Grace Winter cheered for Hayes Edwards on the sidelines, almost waving two small flags in her hands.
Hayes sneaked a glance at the audience and almost laughed at Grace Winter’s adorable appearance.
The opposing players felt they were being underestimated!
But regardless, with such a large score gap, Hayes Edwards’ team eventually claimed victory.
The game ended, and amidst the enthusiastic applause at the sidelines, the players from both teams shook hands amicably.
The captain of the opposing team held back his frustration, "It’s different having a girlfriend watch your game, huh."
Hayes accepted it calmly, smiling nonchalantly, "It is quite different. After all, with a girlfriend watching, losing would be pretty embarrassing."
The opposing team’s captain was so frustrated his face turned dark.
Meanwhile, Grace Winter had already run down from the stands and was waving at him from the side of the basketball court.
Hayes didn’t care about his stuff, tossing his water bottle into a teammate’s arms and dashed over.
"Hayes, you’re amazing!"
Grace Winter, with a cross-body bag, looked like a rabbit when she jumped, her smile sweet.
Hayes restrained his urge to pull her into his arms, reaching out to ruffle her hair, "I told you, I’d win first place just for you."
