Chapter 1944: Chapter 1944: Hayes Edwards Extra (101)

At this time, the neighborhood has also quieted down, with only the occasional person returning from outside.

Mother Edwards heard the noise and came to open the door, only to be startled when she saw Hayes Edwards carrying Grace Winter.

Hayes Edwards explained, "She’s asleep."

Mother Edwards finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Let Grace sleep in the guest room tonight. I wouldn’t be comfortable with her sleeping alone over there."

Hayes nodded and carried Grace Winter to the guest room.

Mother Edwards helped to make the bed and then shooed Hayes out after he put her on it. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

After the Spring Festival, it becomes inevitable to visit relatives and offer New Year greetings. Hayes Edwards never liked these things, and since Grace Winter was home this time, Mother Edwards didn’t make him go along.

"Take Grace out more, don’t just stay at home all day. There are groceries in the fridge, remember to cook, don’t order takeout for Grace to eat, and also..."

Mother Edwards gave a pile of instructions, to which Hayes nodded and then escorted Father Edwards and Mother Edwards to the elevator.

The elevator door had just closed when Grace Winter came out of her room with a freshly made cake in her hands, "Where are Aunt and Uncle Edwards?"

Hayes Edwards said, "Just took the elevator, they’re visiting relatives."

"I see." Grace Winter looked down at the cake she just made, "I was just going to offer them some cake."

Hayes Edwards walked over and took the cake from her hands, "They’re not home, so offering me some is the same."

Grace Winter exclaimed "Ah" and was then led inside by Hayes Edwards.

Hayes Edwards thought that during these five years, Grace Winter must have put a lot of effort into baking cakes, as the taste was even better than those of brand-name cakes bought outside.

"I didn’t have many friends abroad, so I would bake cakes myself whenever I had nothing to do." Grace Winter rested her chin in her hand, looking at Hayes Edwards across from her.

Having eaten nearly half, Hayes Edwards stopped upon hearing this sentence, "Since you didn’t have many friends, why didn’t you come back?"

Grace Winter paused and smiled, "I was worried about my grandma."

Hayes nodded and asked no more.

Winter vacation, long or short, he remembered Grace Winter saying that she would be leaving once the holiday was over.

For the next few days, Hayes Edwards took Grace Winter out nearly every day, going wherever there was excitement, and at night, he would accompany her to set off fireworks downstairs.

Among a group of children, Hayes Edwards seemed out of place.

Several children passing in front of him gave curious glances, and there was even a mischievous kid who deliberately threw a small firecracker over.

But the firecracker was nonchalantly kicked back by Hayes Edwards, and timing it just right, it exploded at the feet of the mischievous children, frightening them so much they didn’t dare approach Hayes Edwards again.

After that, each time Hayes Edwards brought Grace Winter to set off fireworks, those children would scatter away quickly as if they’d seen a big demon king.

Grace Winter found it amusing, "Hayes, why are you acting like such a child?"

Hayes Edwards pressed his hand on her head, "Because I have to play with you, this little kid."

Grace Winter laughed and smacked his hand away, "I’m not a little kid."

"Alright, you’re not, I am." Hayes Edwards opened the bag of fireworks in his hand, laughing, "So now this little kid wants to light some fireworks, do you want to consider accompanying me?"

He gazed at her, his light brown eyes full of laughter, a carefree and vibrant youth, always housing a soul that yearns for freedom.

She smiled with her eyes curved, saying, "Sure."
